  1. The UXe has out dated CHADEMO port, wouldn't work at a Tesla charger, and increasingly even other suppliers like Gridserve and Osprey aren't supporting CHADEMO. The RZ isn't a great EV, but its much better than the UXe.
  2. Filled up the IS300H for the first time in 6 weeks.....£99 and the thing was only just full!! How are you guys who do proper millage in combustion car managing?! I have told me wife to essentially stop using the IS300H and to use EV unless we have no choice. Am amazed so many people are still able to run RangeRovers etc, they must be getting on £200/tank.
  3. As a current Tesla owner, previous BMW owner I find the thought of having any kind of extended warranty on our IS300H to be quite amusing. Our IS300H is going to be 8 years old at the next service/MOT. Apart from tires and air filter, it's literally not needed any thing repairing or replacing. It's still on its original 12V battery and I've started to only get an oil change every 2 years as its not ever needed a single drop of oil adding outside of the oil changes.........the Tesla and my old BMW on the otherhand, even the official manufacturer extended warranties have 'get out' clauses written into them longer than Shakespeares complete works :). The realibily of our IS300H is simply beyond belief.
  4. I pay no road tax either on my car, are you going to ban me from driving? Pedestrians walk on the roads, cross roads, they have no insurance, may we should only allow those with walking insurance cross the road? Classic cars have no need for MOT, ban them from the roads too?
  5. I feel like some of you guys have some real anger issues!! The reason why cities all over are closing off roads is to get people out of their cars. Believe it or not it does make a difference to cyclists.
  6. Just imagine how much hydrogen would cost now as a fuel for a car, even if you could find it. Meanwhile half way through this month, and including charging our electric car, we have used a NEGATIVE amount of grid electricity. The answer to the current rising fuel costs is very obvious, wean off our dependence on fossil fuels, it cannot happen quickly enough.
  7. Actually EVs are very easy to repair. The local garage literally down the road replaced the PTC heater in our Model X recently (a 'known' fault') with zero issues. In the states independent garages can do essentially entire drive train swaps on EVs (so different battery + motors). Everything on an EV, suspension essentially, is the same as any other car, but workshop access to bolts/fittings is often easier as there isn't a massive engine + oil lines every where.
  8. We did 750 miles recently at the national speed with no issues on range. What I also find 'fun' about 'fast' is accleration and smaller roads. Mway driving at 70mph is as dull as it get, and these days for those kind of roads am glad for Autopilot. However for short bits of fun speed, the EV is fantastic. Am sure you know the feeling seeing the fuel gauge drop every time you go WOT especially in a Scooby.....sub 10mpg at WOT isn't going to go unnoticed at near £2/l for fuel, versus even at worst 10p per mile on fuel for an EV doing the same thing. The amount of noise and drama made versus inability to pull away from a 6 seater SUV is pretty comical.....so slow and expensive to run, why would you buy an combustion performance car over an EV??
  9. And with the way electricity prices are also going up, we can all probably predict which way used prices on these Teslas will go. Its more amazing any owner of these cars would even want to sell them right now, 'free' fuel for essentially forever, honestly why would you give that up??
  10. I think you will find tax incentives, cheap running costs are the actual reason many of people (like my self) jumped on the EV bandwagon very early. I was actually half looking at an GS-F, F10 M5, XJR supersport back in 2016 before the light bulb moment hit me on how EVs would me access to fast cars that cost next to nothing to run, for similar initial purchase costs as high performance combustion cars. I distinctly remember even going to the local Lexus dealer to have a look at the newly released GS-F, to ensure I wasn't going mad paying the same ££££££ for an EV. With the way fuel prices are going even our relative efficient IS300H is getting painful to refuel, where as the running costs of our EV remains comical in comparison. Just done a big holiday road trip in our EV, and because we were early adopters we have 'free for life' charging at Tesla Superchargers. That + ability to charge off solar for 'free' at home means over the last months, doing 1,300 miles has cost only £31 in fuel, or around 2p per mile. I dare not work out how many miles I would get from an GS-F right now for £31....Which probably explains why despite the almost identical purchases price back in 2016, our EV has barely depreciated by £15k in 5.5 years whilst a GS-F has lost £35k. I suspect by the end of this year our EV will probably APPERICATE in value, and honestly who would want to run a V8 saloon that does 20mpg daily?? Add in all other incentives we got for getting an EV early (bought our first EV in 2015), like x3 free chargers installed at x3 different addresses, free electricity for about 12 months as a government trial back in 2017, free wheels/home battery as part of a referral program with Tesla.....Getting an EV early has been the best financial decision I've ever made when it comes to car purchasing!!! And I haven't even claimed any tax benefits, some people who know how to game the tax system will have had coming up to a decade of totally free EV ownership I suspect. But I do actually care abit about reducing my energy foot print which is why I go to work on this these days.....But what's amazing about the running cost of EVs is, by the time I've taken into account the cost of stuff like panniers, locks, lights, reflective jackets, I've had to buy for the pedal bike, over the 2.5 years running our 2.5 ton, 6 seater, sub 5 second to 60mph has been CHEAPER to run/own per mile!!!!! Absolutely crazy situation 🤣
  11. Hold on, so Lexus made an EV that cannot remain connected to a central server without the 12V battery been drained even though the traction battery is huge??!!! I only just had to replace the 12V battery in our Tesla at 4.5 years old, and the Tesla is literally 'online' 24/7. Even than the car told me it was essentially constantly charging the 12V from the traction battery automatically to avoid any none staring issues, so gave me plenty of time to get the replacement done. Lexus/Toyota better make some serious investments in software teams if this is the current level of software development!
  12. We've just come back from a family holiday to France. We went there in our EV that was manufactured in 2016, along in convoy with friends who had just bought a brand new ID4 Pro. Not 10 years difference but half way there. The ID4 had 15% more range than our older EV and charged faster to 90%, but the reality was there was pretty much zero difference in travel time....and our cost for using Tesla DC rapid chargers was free whilst the ID4 was costing around 18p per mile. The range difference between the cars actually would be reversed if we had ordered the 'larger battery' version of our car. Whilst in France we actually came across another RHD smaller battery Model X, same year as ours, so it seems like 'older' EVs are getting plenty of usage. We are off on a 3000 mile road trip to Norway in 5 weeks, why would we ever consider selling our EV when it gives access to 'free' fuel essentially forever?? Tesla recently offered to swap our 5 year old X for a brand new Y for zero net cost, but why would we do that? Yes the Y has more range, but the X already has more than enough range for out needs, and we will loss access to 'free' fuel, 'free' life time connectivity, and the Y simply is just dull compared to the drama our X. Far from been disposable EVs have the potential to become the 'car for life', especially as battery replacements are now becoming an option. In the US, the Model S is already 10 years old, and for a price ($15k) Tesla will fit a brand new battery into a 10 year old car that will give it MORE range than the yet to be released Lexus RZ!! - Infact this is exactly what am planning to do with our X when it hits 10 years old, interms of ownership time, already over half way there :).
  13. Nice car, did you not get tempted by the EVs Kia offer? They certainly any any slower than the Stinger but cost no where near 38p/mile in fuel it looks like the commute is going to cost you.
  14. No chance of that, both got used today, the IS spends most of its time decorating the driveway :). Glorious day to be out on the bike, going on half term break tomorrow, the last time the IS was driven was Monday, and now wouldn't be started till next Sunday.
  15. Given our other car is an out of warranty Tesla, and a wasp got trapped in my helmet when going to work on my pedal bike yesterday.....been concerned about the 12V battery on our IS300H I have to confess is very very low down on the list of 'worries' in life :D.
  16. Same colour and wheels as ours, which we bought new in 2015. The fact a 12V battery is the only thing people are bringing up on a car that's been around since 2013 should tell you all you need to know about reliability :). Oh our car is still on its original 12V battery, and isn't used for weeks at a time, no issues with starting. I will get it replaced at somepoint though.
  17. I pay £0 for our EV but still can use the road, the IS300H is £20........so what point are you trying to get to? May be all EV drivers should give way to you because you pay more VED 😆. Anyways have a good weekend, hope you weren't stuck for too long in a traffic jam on the way home from work today 😀.
  18. But wait I pay VED, so I have the 'right' to get ahead of the Q, I lost count the number of cars I passed stuck in traffic on the commute home, must in three figure+ 😎. My commuter bike is now 'complete', first time ever I've had panniers on any bike. Absolutely love it🥰
  19. Shock horror, this is how its suppose to work. I'm using a local shared pedestrian/cycle path more due to a change in commuting destination. I can average 20mph on the eBike, but yesterday was nearly half that, why? Because I was slowing down, following predistrians on. It seems some of your guys think cars have priority over other road users?? That's not actually what the highway code says.
  20. The answer is actually very simple, road designer need accommodate all road users, am surprised there isn't a cycle path/crossing near by?
  21. Tried a new commuter route today, what better way to start the week than cycling along totally empty foot paths with scenery like this 🙂
  22. Never in my wildest dreams 20 years ago could I have imagined to be in position am lucky enough to be in now. Yes it's required hard work and luck, but the social progression offered in the UK is 2nd to none. I couldn't read or write even the English alphabet in 1990!! The most astounding thing is I still no where near the 'peak' of my career or earning potential. But life is now comfortable enough, I don't need to be led by ££££, instead am lucky enough to follow what am interested in doing 🙂. I'll be doing 20 miles or so commuting around the city on my pedal bike tomorrow, frankly all the stuff here been 'debated' over really has no impact on the really important stuff in life, family and been happy with yourself. It just happens pedals bikes for me really help with happiness 😀.
  23. I can tell every £1 in my name has been gained through old fashoined work. In 2005 I was living off 10p pot noodles and in a renting a room in a shared house with 4 random strangers, with a £70 Halfords bike as my old mode of transport. My biggest regret in life is not been financially 'braver'. There are plenty of people who have made fortunes by taking advantage of the financial strategies set out by our government, and than there is cryptos....
  24. The man maths played by all our governments makes any car man maths look pretty pathetic. Quantitative easing has made lots of people lots of money from nothing, and indirectly pretty much everyone in the country had benefited from it. Given money is entirely made up in the first place its hard actually to argue against mordern financial solutions as long as the general population is benefiting. As for my figures, feel free to point to out any of the numbers that are wrong :).
