I had that problem last week. I kept messing with the bonnet pull as it didn't seem as though it had returned properly. A few goes of pulling and pushing and the bonnet clicked shut. I guess it might have snagged somehow Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk -

I have the ls430 and I find that I have to press and hold the boot key until it opens rather than just pressing and letting go. I don't know if this applies to the 400 though. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk -

Ok here's the update to the issue...It was the wheel bearing. Thanks to "the acre" for a correct diagnosis . Sourced the part and fitted it this afternoon. Quite an easy job to do as well if you are keen on the spanners. Weirdly I had an engine light come on this morning but since replacing the bearing and taking it for a drive the light has gone off. Don't know if a diagnostic test would reveal the bearing problem but it just seems a bit of a coincidence . Anyway , happy days and thanks again.

Probably a replacement amplifier needed. Tried a replacement cd player...same problem as original so given up. I now listen to "the sound of silence"

And the answer will be pointed out when the mot is due. 😊 going to wait until then to be sure and if it is the wheel bearing I'll order a pair and do them both myself. I'll re-post when it's done.

Thanks for the reply. Bearing sounds likely as the tyres are nearly new. I'm going on a 600 mile round trip soon so will get it checked when I return.

Hi all. I've been getting a feeling through the steering when steering right, almost like a vibration. Doesn't happen when steering left. Seems to drone when the speed is picked up. Probably going to take it to a garage anyway but wondered if anyone had any ideas or pointers. Cheers

My 430 is a November 2000 model so an early one. It had been well looked after with all lexus servicing and one toyota one. It had 112000 miles on the clock when I bought it 2 years ago and now has about 127000. It has never failed an M. O. T and drives like a dream. It still has the airbag suspension which is fine, original radiator, original screen and no rust whatsoever. If ever it suffered with one of the aforementioned problems I would either just get it fixed or buy another 430.....I love my car.

What do you know...just replaced my battery with a new boshe one and it's not only cured my "up and down" steering adjustment problem but the radio comes on straight away with no more of that problem where it only works intermittently. wonderful!

I have a 2000 ls430 and I too have had a problem with the adjustable steering over the last few days. The in/out worked ok but had no movement with the up/down which was annoying as the steering wheel was quite low hindering me seeing the dash and too close to my legs. I read up on how to fix the ls400 but the ls430 is different . I have been trawling the web and have just come back indoors having followed a "how to" link on Google. I now have the wheel at a nice comfortable position that suits me and am armed with the knowledge how to sort both cars. sweet!

It's not hard to do I've had a go at it a good few times because of the cd error on screen. I managed to remove all the cd's but the fault remained. It seems like when this error occurs it spells the death nel for for the cd player leaving you with the cassette and radio. There is a "how to" on YouTube if you type it in. -
I get the idea but 10 -12 hours, that seems a long time and will doing this effect anything else?

Ls430 mark levinson radio suddenly started playing up. first the cd player gives up now it's the radio. sometimes it will come on and be okay but mostly refuses to work at all. I can be driving along without a sound from it then suddenly it will start playing. Any ideas chap's ?

Oh well, looks like i've now got 2 cd players that do not work. At least I got a full refund and told I could keep the unit. -
I had a Nissan 300zx twin turbo that had been imported and the main speedo was in kph but also had the mph in smaller numbers. I bought a converter but never fitted it. Passed the mot's without any concern every time. Japanese models were better spec than the uk models too with all leather interior instead of cloth. Fog lights were already fitted too. Only thing I had to do was make sure I knew the conversion limits. Some members of the club used stickers on the speedo for reference.
