  1. I just noticed that parking brake is not effective. I have to press it down far to make it work. Is it time for new brake shoes?
  2. Until the damn oil shows on the damn dipstick. Piece of crap dipstick it is. Would you swear by 6.3L? Or swear by proof? I had to make a call and I made it.
  3. I wasn't comfortable with 6.3L after injecting 100ml at a time I reached 6.7L. Took ages. I will check oil level again on tesco parking as that is supposed to be flat like a pancake.
  4. Thanks. I didn' do the block. I will do it next year or simply drain it from radiator. It is easy job anyway.
  5. I hope these pictures help someone in future. I forgot to take pictures when jacked up from rear.
  6. Yes place them to the front of the hole. And be careful of the hole.
  7. Also, no need to remove any covers. There is a hole lined up through the cover for the drain plug. And one can easily get access to plug from top so no need to jack it up. Just do not completely remove the plug or the thermostate cap. Else the coolant will go everywhere. What a good design it is.
  8. I filled in today 6 liters but I cannot read the dipstick. So how many liters should I go with? I drove with the 6 liters thinking maybe it shows clearly after a drive but it just smears the oil and is not clear on dipstick.
  9. Thanks 200h. I got it from halfords long time ago for another car and there is left over of 2 liter concentrate. So I can say 6 liters of coolant left. How many liters would I require?
  10. How many trims/ covers need to be removed to replace coolant? Today I gave up but I am going to try do it tomorrow.
  11. Something is wrong with their clips or trims. They never fit. They will use glue in the end if not already done.
  12. Oh and got your question. Like John said, stick with the spec even if the car is modified. Engineers are Lexus know better than us sunday mechanics.
  13. Don't want to sound rude but diesel owners.. please understand that there is no sound justification for deleting dpf. Sell the car if you are having issues with it but do not make uk a 3rd world. As for Oil, Lexus use Castrol. Google Castrol Oil Selector. Put your reg in and it will tell you wjat you need.
  14. Petrol Hybrid is the way to go for now. I never thought I would advocate for a hybrid but I am impressed by it for now. Only electric is a pain but taxi drivers and delivery folkes swear by it that it works perfectly for them. Petol hybrid, Plenty of power and very good on the pocket. They are efficient. I look at my is250 as dated smog machine. And diesel as spreading free lung cancer machine ;) It is all down to personal experince. Question... even with dpf... how is it acceptable for a diesel to do re gen and dump the soot all at once on the road? Is that not as evil?
  15. 2007. .. did it jad antifreezr change. Can you verify that from paper work? Lexus says to change after 10 years. Properller can be inspected on some cars easily. Not sure how easy it is on is220 but someone will reply. Generally, you just need to remove the intake pipe to turbo then wiggle the propeller and observe the play. Also it should spin freely. (Of course with engine turned off) Soot around turbo... turbo works on exaust so if there is any soot my guess will be a leak somewhere. Maybe check the waste gate area as that handles the exhaust dump. Or check the seams where turbo and exhuast meet.
  16. When are they going hybrid or electric only? I personally think diesel are done with and petrol is also outdated unless hybrid.
  17. How much is the admin fee? Top much competition and people tending to buy online forces them admin fee. Most people outright reject to buy something dear than other just because of price and without even looking at it in person. As adjustment is made due to shopping trend I think. Plus while people think they make 1000s in profit... it is usually on 100s. One Merc dealer disclosed to me that on C class they make only 150 pounds.... 150...
  18. Thanks Andrew. Normski. It is indeed a size 10 hex. Thinking now if I would need impact hex bits for impact gun or will I be able to undo with just an allen key.
  19. Has anyone here tried to unscrew the lower pin from the caliper assembly? I didn't knew it can be removed and had been greasing the pin but I think it needs changed now. It will be almost welded in. But the question is, what part does one use to grip it ?
