  1. Think potentially Lexus have missed the spot, lots of American forums are saying “it’s not an F”……..which it’s not, this will have a knock on effect with resale values for sure, I daresay it’ll be next league compared to the old ISF but unfortunately it’s not an F……as far as I’m aware this is a USA car only unless I’m being misled
  2. Lol, the girlfriend bit did make me laugh, I’ve an ex wife n I definitely had the better years 😂……as for F, like u not my only car BUT I’ve two dogs n don’t like them in it, in fact they don’t actually like the car, same for the wife tbh, I’ve a daily for work, dogs, supermarket etc etc, the F doesn’t get used as much as I’d like BUT after 7 years of ownership the only beneficiaries will be my kids, I purchased as my forever car and to date there isn’t anything I like enough to even contemplate selling for…….hopefully when the 2011 suspension set up is on the wife may appreciate it more (although she hates the exhaust) 😂🤣
  3. I’d knock the back of the garage out, or cheaper still get a clothes horse 😉
  4. Lol David, I told u there’s something about an F compared to an M or AMG, got to be one of your longest cars to date? you need to be less hasty when the idea of parting out comes to mind 😉
  5. I’ve always been told there’s no point keeping the millage down for the next owner 😂…….I do 2-4.5k a year in mine, relatively low BUT it’ll go to Hampshire, Norfolk, Lake District or Spain, not many short journeys as I can’t bring myself to park in a car park with the “rental brigade” that have no respect as they don’t own……my daily I’ll park anywhere BUT I’m still always considerate to the car next to me.
  6. I personally love the colour, would be my first choice tbh, I’m not a “look at me person”……. Completely the opposite…….BUT there’s something about that colour for me
  7. Mine looked fine on the outside, I should of taken the unit home and cut it up as there wasn’t any corrosion that was of any concern…… like others I did it a precaution rather than needing…….very expensive to rectify after the event
  8. I’m lucky I suppose, I’m late 40’s n kids are 23 n 21, although I’ve two dogs now 😂……. I’ve always run two cars n the wife has hers, I’ve a daily Insignia estate which is used n abused with everything thrown in it, although the F did have a Spanish jaunt last year, normally the daily as we normally take the dogs n loads of decorating stuff etc etc 🙄……. U really need to drive both, the ISF is a better handler out of all of them BUT the GSF n RCF are smoother and more luxurious and are probably better for everyday driving, I’ve never had a 2 door when kids were young and tbh I don’t like the struggle to get in when the moron parks to close next to you, experience this with my C70 convertible…….probably associated with age though 😂🤣
  9. Think u need to drive both then, unfortunately one will become more expensive over time, I’ve a friend who’s just paid £25k for a 2010 (facelift model) with full history and 50k miles, could be a benchmark for negotiations?……he doesn’t regret the high price purchase at all and had a 2008 one prior……the car is lovely BUT after selling one he’s said this is a keeper as is mine after 7 years of ownership……prices are high on non main dealer cars, Mo was selling his 2010 Mesa red for £17k from memory, not sure if it’s gone though.
  10. I think the ISF will definitely be the car that will be the collectors item, the GSF and RCF are in the next league BUT the ISF was the mould breaker, MK1 escort, MK1 golf, definitely not the best BUT by far the most expensive…….. I think the prices will remain steady and increase over time, the cheapest time to buy was probably 2 or 3 years ago……. As for over inflated dealer prices all I will say is their warranty is the only warranty worth having, u wouldn’t be able to extend it after BUT those first 12 months will set your mind at rest that you’ve bought a good one
  11. Make sure it has a “good service history”…….manifolds have been replaced OR there’s no ticking on cold start up, radiator has been changed (not a common issue BUT the gearbox oil runs within the same unit and corrosion can take place) gearbox will cost u £8k for new one……water pump has been replaced (would imagine all out there have been)……. Check on here as most are known (there’s a couple of “no goes” about)…….other than that they’re pretty bulletproof, expect to get 24-26mpg as a daily on that millage unless your heavy footed, can get 34mpg at a steady 75ish……although great cars expect it to be harder to shift than most cars…….they’re still under the radar compared to the common Merc, BM, Audi etc…….but are far more reliable and fuel efficient.
  12. I’m pretty sure Esso now supply Sainsbury’s, used to be BP…….hence nectar cards accepted in Esso garages now…….only time I ever run cheaper grade fuel is when abroad, don’t think I’ll ever put E10 in my F or my bike, when n if super if ever fazed out I’ll be adding an additive to it.
  13. What was the weather like?……my daily lights up like a Christmas tree, worse in wet weather and it’s the ABS sensor that’s on its way out……worth a try 🤞🏻
  14. Saw one at the Nurburgring a few years ago, the fella was a German “Bill Gates” equivalent, he was a really nice fella n gave it a few blips in the underground car park we were in, is was AMAZING
  15. Unfortunately on this occasion we had only a week, was after the first lockdown and the wife wanted to see her dad as the Spanish lockdown made ours look like an open prison…..I drove non stop for 21hrs, had a more pleasant drive home over the Pyrenees although the second lockdown was chasing us to the boarder 😳…….. he flew back a week after us and missed the second one by a few days……… they didn’t mess about our there
  16. E10 will be fine as others say, the car will just travel less miles on a tank, funny how it costs the same🤔……only time I’ve used premium over super was our Spanish trip, the cost of fuel was eye watering on french motorways…….I’d always check your cars prior to filling with E10, the IS250 on 2005-2007 can’t run on E10, there are a few that have slipped through the net with this rubbish.
  17. And the cost was??……. Would consider it soon BUT have spent a small fortune with paint correction n ceramic coating this year already, be nice to have an idea of cost please 🤔
  18. You’ll be luck tbh, Mo’s car is cheap tbh, prices are looking to be on the up, I’ve a mate with a USB and he keeps sending me ads with 08 plates being marketed at near £20k…….they’re not the easiest to sell on but they are worth every penny IMO
  19. Hi Richard, like yourself I’ve gone IS200, IS300 IS250sel, I’ve had mine for seven years, only thing to look for is a good service record with a reputable company, preventative maintenance would be the rad replacement……valley plate (American thing not heard any here) water pump and the manifolds are the weakest points, once done they’re pretty much bulletproof, obviously there’s the odd abused car about, these are the main areas of concern from my perspective……. Being such low numbers most are known including the odd stay away car…….hope u find what your looking for, Paul
  20. I drive a manual daily and a 1000cc bike, my biggest issue is the wipers 😂….. can’t get that into my head between cars!….. I can go from either or and not even contemplate going for a clutch BUT the wiper stalk gets me every time 🙄
  21. A “cat” cat is fully insurable and another pay out would be full value “less 10%”…….. crumple zones can make damage look a lot worse that it actually is!……. I purchased a “cat C” years ago due to structural damage, that damage was the power steering cradle touching the front wheel, a tyre lever and brut strength changed that, I put a secondhand wing, headlight, rad pack on it, drove it to Spain and had a couple of years daily out of it, swapped with a mates car n drove it back and forth 3 times to Poland and used it daily for a couple of years, sold it on and it’s still going…….. absolutely nothing wrong with the structure of the car, insurance companies write off cars for minimal damage and mainly due to high labour costs of main stealers!……..a cat car should be at least 30% cheaper for that reason BUT some people don’t fully understand them……… do your own homework and decide what you’re happy with BUT expect selling on to be an issue unless you can show the full damage and repair process AND expect the move on to be a long process……… this is a keeper and definitely not a flipper
  22. I “did” always select N when stationary BUT after buying the eldest an auto golf with gear issues (wouldn’t come out of 1st until warm)……the gearbox specialist that repaired the box said NOT to take out of gear unless it’s for a long time, he said every time you move between N and D you are engaging n disengaging solenoids repeatedly and causing premature wear, I now don’t select N unless I know it’s for a length of time, I will use the foot brake if I don’t want to hold the brakes on.
