  1. Depends where you live. But in Yorkshire it would be a good call. In the far south where I am, I doubt I'd get the full use of the tyre life before they needed changing due to rubber perishing. I've driven RWD cars many years ago before the long spell with FWD. But those were driven in winter without the modern aides that are available now. So, for my circumstances, now I'm further south. It is just a case of relearning to drive a RWD in winter. David
  2. ... and of course it is the motorist that is the bad road user! David
  3. Those with an IS Advance would be good for feedback as to the worth. I just didn't really feel I'd like it, had thoughts of yellowing and dirt collecting where the edges are.It also depends on whether it scuffs up with normal wear an tear, so relpacing a panels is noticiable in shading to the others. But maybe the technology is more advanced than that. David.
  4. I've just got a 3 year service plan through my local dealership, not as good a Rayaans can get, as he has a longer relationship with his. But 15% discount is acceptable to me. Although it probably only last 18-24mths with my mileage. About that time they will be 'trying' to get me to buy an new one anyway. David.
  5. When the car goes in for it's 1st service, I'll get them to take a look. Not something that is critical, so it can wait. Thanks for the great feedback guys. David
  6. Maybe it is my sense of spell going, but my leather doesn't smell leathery at all. I had an old A2 and the leather in that was very overpowering. I've read around that the sealents may mask the smell, which is a bit of a trade off. As you may as well buy manmade leaterette. David
  7. Sorry, David, when rereading the original boot lid comment I see I for one "sprang" (is that a word?) to the wrong conclusion. No problems, the issue is that I'm very poor in expressing myself well in spoken English, let alone written. And yes my 1st language is allegedly English.
  8. I get creaking when releasing the foot brake mainly during steering in low speed manoeuvers. David.
  9. Looks stunning, but tbh I'm too tight for a £50 Valet :) David.
  10. The lid when it gets to the top of its range is what what Darrude and I are really trying to express. Not the initial openning of it. The last 15% of travel is seemingly undamped to my taste at least on mine. David.
  11. The CVT in my old Jazz was very smooth, but also very noisy if hard throttled. But to be fair it was only a city car with a small engine. As far as reposivness, in Sport it was absolutley fine in pulling out of junctions, supprisingly. David.
  12. No rattles, just a tapping behind my head occasionally. Due to 2 air fresheners hanging fom the grab handle. Yes, my Wife hates the new car chemical smell, which is abating now. David.
  13. I was starting to get a complex about the boot lid. Glad someone else notices it too :) David
  14. I was choosing between the IS + NX, but I agree with your findings. But I'd probably may had gone for the NX, if I needed the extra cargo space. I did manage to get 45mpg from a premier NX on a test drive, but I didn't like the drive. I still like the looks though. I managed better mpg on the IS test drive, and the drive was far superior in my normal driving habits. I'm getting about the same as you in the current weather, although I've got 30mins of extra contraflow for the next 9mths. So I expect that to get bettter after that. I had a NX recently as a loaner, as tbh did fancy using it much, and it looked ghastly in Mesa red (just my opinion/taste though as I don't like red cars, even a Ferrari). David.
  15. I do have to speak up with transmidssion on 2nd to top. But I do mumble, and the Mrs is a little mut'n'jeff. I have a iPhone 5. David.
  16. I think my description may be a bit misleading. Yes, it opens without pinging open. But then open it further and let it go, and you get the spring board affect. Even the dear old Jazz was better than that with its damping. David.
  17. Not interesting, but an annoying observation. I think the boot lid should be damped and not fly up and bounce at the top of it's opening range. David
  18. Being a High-bred car, it is clever enough to already have claimed its cold winter fuel allowance. David.
  19. A lovely car, you will continue to be pleased. I to liked to blue, but compromise to the Mercury grey with she who shall be obeyed. :) David
  20. Congrats, and the valet looks a1 from the shine on your little beauty. David
  21. A lot of work gone in there, enjoy your efforts. The paint works well with the angles, although the tints will need to be 30% for the fronts unfortunately. David. "Vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through."
  22. Someone has been up to mischief! David.
  23. Mine is a month old, on Bridgestone's. So they may have been running down the old stock, when mine was build and booted. David
  24. I guess my MPG is not helped by the Bridgestone Turanza's as they had a 'F' economy rating/ 'C' wet weather/ 71 noise rating. When the time comes I'll go for something like a Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT with a 'C' economy/'A' wet weather/ 68 noise rating. Those stats seem better for my purposes, I think. David.
  25. The VW Golf's legendary reliability is a myth. Just clever marketing jargon, that people have believed for years, because no-one ever questioned it. I had one golf, worse car I've ever owned, never buy a VW again on that experience. David.
