  1. Lexus service plans - I'll do 18-20k a year and have been quoted £935 for 3 services. Just checked the servicing prices for the 1st 3 services, and they are the same price. So where is my incentive to pay in advance for what for me would be 2 years worth of services, paid advance for the same price? They get my money and interest on it. I lose interest on my money, and gain no discount for paying in advance. Just in case the price of the service suddenly sky rockets, hardly? David.
  2. Gap insurance - I think I'd be covered for the first year, and probably external services are cheaper for subsequent years. By external services, I meant to say Gap insurance services other than that supplied via Lexus themselves. It did read a bit odd :) David.
  3. Being new to the Lexus family, and a lot of yourselves seasons ones. I would really appreciate your views and experiences of the following products: Lexus service plans - I'll do 18-20k a year and have been quoted £935 for 3 services. Lexus insurance - Competitive? Ceramic glass paint protection - Worth the outlay? Alloy/Tyres cover - Bearing in mind in 9 years of last car only 2 punctures and no alloy scrapes (don't park on road, or must urban driving to do so) Gap insurance - I think I'd be covered for the first year, and probably external services are cheaper for subsequent years. thanks David SLH products.pdf
  4. Since they made a verbal blunder, I'd have expected some sort of sweetener as a goodwill token. As far as the price I've not any idea, but many will.
  5. I'd not pay that for a 47k car, if you are happy with the mileage, that should be £19k all day long. But I'm a tough customer. I'm getting mine from Carwow, but dealt directly with my local main dealer. I got 9.6% of retail price. Basically £1000 less than the price of a 6000 mile, one year not so highly speced Lexus approved model. Under 2 weeks to wait now...
  6. The lack of rear light usage, no issue with the lights in themselves, and when first out (in LED format), on the Audi quite quirky. It's the numpties not realising the rear lights are not on in bad weather that are additional irritation. Not the DTRL's. :)
  7. The downside of the DTRL's is them being used exclusively in conditions where rear lights are required, like in fog. I do agree that you should be able to see the car in front :) But in bad conditions being able to see further ahead to where the traffic is, and being able to maintain a safer distance because of it, is preferable. I think for many years now, all cars have had high level brake lights, which would give the contrast.
  8. Lexus - Luxury EXecutive US - I believe or similar :)
  9. I've been wondering why the following has not been implemented: Day tine running lights to include the 'rear' lights too: - My concern is that many drivers do not know that the rear lights are not on with Day time running lights, and also just use them in low light conditions and misty/foggy conditions. Side lights to come on when intermittent or onward wiper selections are selected by the driver: - This because it would be considered low light conditions, and comply with the safety and law. Just a couple of thoughts to throw out there :)
  10. I find this kind of annoying, when following someone when thier brake lights are contantly being flicked on. I aways say to myself "well don't drive so close, and you wouldn't have to touch them". As mentioned before on the forum, this causes the buffering effect on motorways. I suppose this a good benefit for ACC, but if the brake lights are twinkling like Christmas lights, then all non-equipped (and some with) drivers will still remain driving in the same manner. But this is interesting that it could be the programming doing this, and I appologise to those that are not phaffing around with the pedal. Also I've noticed in the last few years that when on a motorway and you want to change lane. That other cars sometimes take an age to pass. I'd usually ease off or slightly increase to ease their passage. I've come to the conclusion, that in a lot of cars now - across the spectrum - have cruise control. So are not likely to take it off and then inadvertently become impolite drivers. It will be interesting once I get the IS, if I use the cruise control that much, but I guess I poo-pooed parking sensors too before I had a car with them :).
  11. Welcome from another Dave, with the same taste in model and colour as yourself ;)
  12. Which is exactly what I'd expect them to do at my local one too :) Which I'd have no problems with to be truthful.
  13. I found it a standard practise for Lexus dealers to offer a discount of only £500, on a car obviously thousands of pounds over priced. I did a negotiation on the web pages for a car offering £3k under the price of one of the models, knowing it was a cancelled order (they let that slip). They turned me down, but came back 2 weeks later saying they'd accept the offer. But I'd moved on by then and said I was not interested. But I think the online negotiation method is good, if the dealership is not inflexible, as I think they tend to follow a single training class mantra. I ended up buy new with a 9% discount, and was fortunate to find that the best dealership I'd dealt with, was actually my nearest. I wish you all the best with your new car, enjoy.
  14. No, sorry not in your area. I'm not seeing more as such, just noticing more, athough very few around in the Hampshire area too. I guess that is just the nature of owning, or getting one. Three sounds about right for volumes of Lexus, but isn't that nice to be in a exclusive club :)
  15. True but that would be a case of the driver behind not looking far enough ahead to spot hazards. Which is not very good driving in itself, and that sort of driver is likely to back end you anyway..
  16. Yes, ASC through the ML would be a cool mod. :) 5.1 Exhaust, that's a new type of boombox.
  17. Ouch! Some parts of this thread my be of use to you in understanding the quirk of Lexus wheel finishes, and difficulties in matching: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/84270-color-of-f-sport-wheels/
  18. This is a useful Siri command PDF to get you started: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCIQFjAAahUKEwi_gLnDh5DHAhUBFRQKHUyTAPA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.drcs-solutions.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F02%2FHow-to-Use-Siri-Full-list-of-Siri-Commands.pdf&ei=mQTBVf_PGoGqUMymgoAP&usg=AFQjCNGEYDnBFvqOE5_IIwEW8Il78oohzw&sig2=MwQQouyXiU04woYilI9Esw
  19. Yes, for those that want the looks, but not the fuel bills.
  20. Not got the IS yet, but this could be next. Nice looking car. 200t/300h versions on the way I think. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=6&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CD0QFjAFahUKEwj0sffglYbHAhWH6xQKHXTdDBs&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lexus.co.uk%2Flexus-today%2Fthe-all-new-rc%2Findex.tmex&ei=V9W7VbSqPIfXU_S6s9gB&usg=AFQjCNE9zB3D6siUXLBQbRfPyXedfU3X6g&sig2=t_1XX8g8kfDj65j7MjLBTw
  21. I sat in the new C-Class and thought I had inadvertently sat in front of a baby grand. Far too shiny and distracting.
  22. Welcome to the clan, and just a short time to wait. Not got mine yet, but 55mpg would eclipse the 45.6mpg in my 1.4 petrol. So anything above is fantastic. Not envious at all that you are getting yours on Saturday :)
