  1. Tell me about cleaning the car. My Wife says I'm obsessed, if I clean it twice in a month. :) Worth the wait for the photo's, very nice. David.
  2. Also you have to assume he had all his battery available :) In the IS, coming out of work car park, where the speed bumps make for a slow inching over them. The people in their Audi/BMW's try to push me faster, and to go faster would risk grounding the front. But blip of the throttle to 30mph leaves them a little shocked and stranded. David.
  3. As for the Kia 7yr, it not the same as it is at year dot. ie the warranty items reduce in number over the years of it. for example: "The adjustment of doors, bonnets and tailgates is covered up to the first scheduled maintenance service." Where as for the premium brands this would not be an issue. David
  4. I doubt the police would do anything tbh. But I had a red 911 do the same to me on the M27/M3 approach at night. The ****** was just gunning the car weaving in and out. Must be a trait of ownership. David
  5. Not too worried about the idiots on the road, I can avoid them well enough. But if the footage can help another road user prove fault, especially in a hit and run. More the better. David
  6. FM is sharper to the ear, I only use DAB for the BBC 5L. I just mainly listen to my own selection of music on the Phone on random. I find most radio stations drivel very cringe worthy tbh. FM just tuned for the Traffic reports. David.
  7. Not really looked at this much. But seen a link mirroring through AV/HDMI/Chromecast. But looks like it is controlled via the phone, which I think is a little disappointing. Wouldn't it be better for it to be controlled by the Lexus unit/controls? I guess the mirroring is just a one-way street? David
  8. I'd concur with above. As an aside I'd recommend getting the boot protector (cheaper off E-Bay Lexus), if you haven't already got one. I was sceptical, but it is very useful for stopping things sliding around in the boot too, therefore avoiding spillages in the first place. David.
  9. Getting 46.5 avg now, about 5 mpg down on warm weather driving. Although this is on my average, which is mainly long commute, and a 30min spell in stop-start queuing traffic. So it seems to be the normal mark going on other's responses. David
  10. Mine did this, but it was the suction mount for dash cam slipping slightly. Refitted it and no issues since.
  11. I don't think cash will hold any sway really. They prefer you to pay on finance, to get them extra money. Although they don't pressure you to do so. Just do not expect any discounts from a dealer, unless you are prepared to sit tight on an negotiated offer for a week or two. With the risk of someone offering more. I had cash also, and got a good price on a new one, but not a sniff at a discount on a used.
  12. I think the wiring would only be in place for a factory fit option. But you model it wasn't, which is unfortunate.
  13. In general disconnect the battery for more than 10mins will reset things, and cause you grief. But not sure with the Lexus, but safe to err on the side of caution.
  14. I'd like the 450h next, but got to be under the 40k to best Mr Osborne's tax.
  15. Check the I-phone car-play connection by sweeping up from the bottom of the phone (there will be 2 types of connection0, and as importantly the volume it is transmitted at. Got caught a few times myself
  16. Now I've actually had the car for 4 months. It is very stable in the wet. I've hit a deep patch of standing water in heavy rain conditions, and no drama's. Although I was not driving appropriately for the conditions admittedly.
  17. Interesting, as it shows what it would look like with a glass roof as mentioned. But doesn't the back look great in that light with the tail lights!
  18. Going to show my age: HB Viva, Capri Mk2, MGB GT, Cavalier, Astra GTE mk2, Alfasud, Range Rover, Escort RS turbo x2; Granada, Metro "Job issues :)", Golf mk2, Ibiza, A2, A3, Jazz, IS F-Sport.
  19. I do a 80mile round trip every day, and I've seen an F-Sport only 4 times in 4 months of ownership. I do like the exclusivity of owning one.
  20. I've not had any issues with the Infotainment system, but I have the latest version. The Bluetooth works well, and the messages are very clearly dictated when you set them on. The music in the car is very important to me, and I have not been disappointed with it. The difference in the Mark Levinson over the standard Pioneer is only noticible at higher volume levels, and it the car has it, it has the upgraded Sat Nav too.
  21. I do mainly motorway driving and get 51mpg summer/46 winter mpg, which was the same as my 1.4 Honda. So in that respect it didn't matter to me about diesel. As it wouldn't have made much different to me, and it is a quieter ride. The CVT I'm used to as I've driven one for 10 years, so it doesn't bother me. It really only grates if you drive like a boy racer all the time, and that I'm certainly not... :)
  22. I had the same choice between the two cars F-sport or M-Sport. But to be honest I don't think I could survived the poor BMW customer service, which I experienced on enquiring about them. To reinforce this my colleagues experiences at multiple BMW dealerships was the same on ownership too.
  23. In fairness, even if the petrol engine kicks in, it is hardly close to the volume of a diesel starting and ticking over from cold. You'd need to be sleeping outside for it to be an issue :). David.
  24. The engine is not the issue where I am. As you can't go down a gravel drive even on foot, without making a noise. Although it is a good deterent. :) David.
