  1. Do you mean a 2nd gen IS250? Either way, if it is a warped disc, then it won't be covered by the warranty unless something else is wrong related to it, eg a caliper is stuck. If that is the case, then you could argue that the stuck caliper caused the brake warping. If not though, then at least it isn't an expensive fix.
  2. Yeah, already had a look. Will get the code when my license gets back. Thanks for the link.
  3. I see, thanks for the clearing that up. Don't have my new photo license yet, only the old paper one. Hopefully my new license will arrive in time. I am going to miss my old paper license, but since I have moved home, I am saddled with this new fangled picture nonsense. I too have managed to memorise my NI number, but haven't been able to remember my license one yet
  4. Sorry, my post doesn't read like intended, but I didn't mean for you to post the video, just that it would be interesting if they did it for everyone. I am not sure I follow you; code for what? Cheers.
  5. They sent you a video? That is very impressive. Hope more dealers start doing that too; would be very interesting to see what it is like. Did Lexus quote you £530 for new discs, pads and calipers? That sounds too cheap so it can't be right Interesting to hear about the airbag recall. I assume it will affect all second gen IS's. I had a CT last time my car was in for work. I actually didn't mind it too much, apart from the awful placement of the AUX socket. It was new though with only 400 miles on the clock. Mine is going in for a service in a few weeks, so I hope I will get an IS this time.
  6. Excuse me if I am missing something, but there seem to be a few IS250's on Ebay for breaking that have their exhausts still? Or at least they do in the pictures? These are what I am talking about: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-Is250-2012-Breaking-All-Parts-Available-Auction-For-A-20A-Fuse-Only-/252412271156?hash=item3ac4f19a34:g:QjAAAOSw~ZdVfq-a http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS250-SE-AUTO-2009-BREAKING-FOR-APARES-/282053054497?hash=item41abac1021:g:p9UAAOSw3ihXS~0s http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS-250-SPORT-WHEEL-NUT-BREAKING-FOR-PARTS-SPARE-REPAIR-IN-SILVER-2006-2011-/162070038971?hash=item25bc2089bb:g:p3QAAOSwSgJXNkcr http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS-250-SE-I-2-5-PT-A-SET-OF-WHEEL-NUTS-COMPLETE-CAR-BREAKING-PARTS-/282037623008?hash=item41aac098e0:g:4ugAAOSwVupTmFrA http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-LEXUS-IS250-ENGINE-2-5-V6-PETROL-4GR-FSE-208bhp-05-13-42K-MILES-BREAKING-/291545833926?hash=item43e17c61c6:g:cXEAAOSw3ydV2EKG http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009-LEXUS-IS-250-SE-I-AUTO-SILVER-CURRENTLY-BREAKING-FOR-ALL-PARTS-/152101869200?hash=item2369fa5690:g:H8IAAOSwa-dWsecj Wouldn't one of these have the exhaust parts you are after?
  7. You have to admit Eric, that does sound pretty good
  8. Hehe, can't stop the tinkering bug, huh? Seriously though, it is probably a good idea. No doubt you will wear out inside treads of tyres otherwise, so put these under required expenditure At least you are doing it right; saw a golf yesterday that was lowered to within an inch of its life (almost literally), and the tyres had so much negative camber that the car looked like it was being crushed!
  9. Well, if you do genuinely regret what you said, then that is fair enough. Everyone is entitled to a bad days ranting once in a while On that note, perhaps a moderator can clean this thread up a bit? Since the posts have been removed, it is going to make no sense to anyone trying to read it now.
  10. Rayaan, you have not done yourself any service in this thread, so perhaps leave it there? As for showing off, regardless of how long you may have saved for your cars, you say that financing a Bentley for 'only' £1400 a month and you could manage £3k does sound a little like boasting. For most people, a car is their second biggest purchase after a house, so it is somewhat different from financing a tv, or other goods. As far as I am concerned, if the person can afford to run the car and pay the finance every month, then why shouldn't that person buy the car if they want it? It's their money and they do what they want with it.
  11. Damn good job Now don't touch a thing cause that is a fine looking IS you have got yourself there.
  12. 22-25 hours?! That's dedication for you. Looking forward to seeing the results.
  13. Not quite Although I did see a nice ISF in the car park at the Hampshire Court hotel this afternoon. Unfortunately, no spaces beside it
  14. Found the picture. Mine is the one on the right. Not quite as good a shape as the other one. Both 08 models in SEL spec with Nav fitted. Only difference was that it was a 250 Auto.
  15. £670! That is madness! That seems excessive, even for a Lexus dealer. Did you get a cost breakdown?
  16. Seems to be a popular combination Only seen one other around here, and have a photo somewhere. Mine is a bit more used though, since it is an 08 plate with 117,000 miles. And is a diesel of course.
  17. Nice. Is that Windsor Blue? If so, then yours is the same exterior and interior colour as mine, as well as the same spec Gonna need some pictures to confirm though As for the parts you are after, have you tried the dealer? I found them surprisingly cheap when I got some service parts from them.
  18. Something tells me we have reached the end of useful discussion in this thread. The only question left unanswered is whether it is actually possible or not, which has nothing to do with if it is a good idea.
  19. Slow down. Tell us more of this car you bought first. From what I have seen, OEM parts are hard to come by since it seems Lexus doesn't like sharing the patterns. I suppose it depends on what it is, since things like oil and air filter are just rebranded, so they are easier to find.
  20. Have we lost some posts from this thread or am I getting confused?
  21. Welcome. Basingstoke here as well Wonder how many other people on here are from this area?
  22. I definitely don't work for Lexus R&D I am not saying that it is cost effective, or even a good idea, just that if a manufacturer doesn't offer it, it doesn't automatically mean it can't be done. I was sort of making an anti 'the manufacturer is always right' statement, if you know what I mean.
  23. I'm sorry Jack, but this is nonsense. The reason manufacturers don't install the kit is because there is nothing in it for them. It adds complexity and cost and doesn't add value to the car since most people are happy to use petrol or diesel. Also, while there are some dodgy installers out there, there are also people that are engineers who produce perfectly good products. Just because manufacturers spend billions, doesn't mean they have a monopoly on engineering
  24. It is good to know when to stop Perhaps some mechanical mods afterwards? I know the supercharger is probably not an option at the moment, but I am sure you can come up with some subtle alterations that would help matters
