  1. It is good to know when to stop Perhaps some mechanical mods afterwards? I know the supercharger is probably not an option at the moment, but I am sure you can come up with some subtle alterations that would help matters
  2. Nice one. Incidentally, could you tell us how many miles you car has and what state the manifold was in before you cleaned it? I am curious cause I have seen a few people on this forum recently that have loads of gunk in the manifold, so was wondering if this is something we should consider along with cleaning EGR valves, etc..
  3. Very well done, looks good I like your style, and that is going to be a fine looking car when the spoiler is done. Any ideas on what you are going to do after the boot lid?
  4. Hi. If the car feels like there is no power, but then it sudden takes off at higher RPM, then the first thing to check is the EGR valve. It is a good idea to take it off and clean it out anyway if you don't know the last time it was checked. They tend to clog up quite quickly. As for testing the turbo, the only thing I could find in the manual was this:
  5. You don't hang around, do you? I think Rayaan might be on to something. Entirely up to you of course, but perhaps a more uniform gap around the wheel? The rear spoiler looks interesting. Reminds me of what BMW did with the M3 CSL.
  6. You can adjust the height of the pedal if that would help. There is a specified engagement point. Have a look at these for further info:
  7. Good looking car you have there I have a lot of little marks and scratches on mine, so am tempted to get it mopped. Not sure how effective it would be though. Much as I would love to get mine repainted, I have a list of things that call on my wallet before I could consider spending that much on bodywork. Need to get my wheels refurb'd for a start!
  8. I got my fuel filter from the dealer. The part number for mine is L23390-YZZA1 £15.59 + VAT That was from Jemca Edgware Road. The part you have listed seems to be for the whole assembly, not the filter only.
  9. That is an American site? It doesn't seem to list the colour of mine, which is Windsor Blue? I actually have some touchup paint in the car, so need to go check the paint code. Out of curiosity, can you tell us how much the job cost? Would like to get a rough idea cause mine has a lot of stone chips. Thanks.
  10. Good to hear that it is sorted. Amazed the car worked at all after seeing that cat. Could you perhaps give us the name of the garage you use? Always nice to have a local garage that is trustworthy. Thanks.
  11. You care to elaborate on that last post cause it sounds like you are saying that Lexus wanted £140 for just a filter?
  12. This is good to hear. Having recently moved to Basingstoke, Lexus Reading is now my local dealer, so my car is going there for a service in a month or so. Hopefully I will get the same level of service you received Mike Although, if they are anything like their other branch - Jemca Edgware Road - I have nothing to fear.
  13. Unless there is a design flaw, timing chains tend to stretch over time and slacken. Normal wear is usually taken up by the tensioner, but if the wear is excessive then it might not be able to. If this happens, there should be a rattling sound that would be probably last for a while before the chain let go.
  14. Excuse me Linas, but you enjoy filling your car with petrol and consider it part of the ownership experience? Really? You must lead a really boring life As far as the rest goes, my understanding is that there is nothing wrong with LPG and if I did enough miles I would probably convert my car. Also, your assumption that manufacturers put millions of miles on their engine to tune them to specific fuels isn't exactly accurate since we know that they set the cars up to use the worst fuels to protect their engines. That is where the gains from chip tuning come in. So there is nothing to say that cars wouldn't run the same - or better even - on LPG as opposed to petrol. I am curious about this direct injection making it impossible or not question. I know Bluesman quoted ChumpusRex, but do we have a definitive answer on this?
  15. Pictures 5 and 6 show the anti rattle clip: http://www.clublexus.com/how-tos/a/lexus-is-how-to-change-disc-brake-pads-362564
  16. Sorry you can't have that; it's auto. What would people think?
  17. Paid £700 for mine last year in London. That is with 7 years NCB, no accidents or points and I am 38 years old. Moved to near Basingstoke this year and it dropped to £348.
  18. Well, since I generally buy cars that are over 5 years old, it is good news for me. Not really bothered about first year tax since I would just consider it as part of the cost of buying the car. The £40k+ £450 premium for the first 5 years is a little steep, but I suppose if you get a petrol non hybrid car, it would generally be cheaper than it is now. So not bad really. Also, I never did like the idea of pollution being linked to road tax, since it was meant to be for using the road and road repairs.
  19. Welcome. Glad to see a fellow diesel owner who is also happy with it! What kind of mods are you thinking about?
  20. This is correct, assuming the injectors have the capacity to cope. However, would the car flip out when it senses positive intake pressure at idle?
  21. Thanks for the info. Aren't the injectors under high pressure? Never thought you would just 'screw them in' Don't suppose you have any other photos of the setup? Bet your fuel consumption is going to improve somewhat Yep, video worked fine.
  22. So glad you found the problem Gary, well done. Yep, I would hope for a rather embarrassed dealer on Tuesday. That is an impressive looking test setup, how does it work?
  23. From what I have seen and heard, we are of like mind when it comes to modifications. One of the things that I hate about the Retro Rides forum is that they seem to prefer lowering their cars by stupid amounts. Seen a few LS400's ruined over there as well as other cars. Anyway, looking forward to seeing how yours goes, so good luck
  24. Fair enough, I can certainly appreciate the tinkering urge Sounds like there are some interesting times ahead for your car.
