  1. Sergio, Caspa has a 2016 RX and he may well be able to adjust the reverse position as well. I have 2007 GS and like you I am not able to adjust the reverse position, Actually its position is just fine for me. However like you I find that sometimes after reversing the mirrors do not go back to where they were set. Not much out but not quite right. I don't know why. Is it worse in cold weather? John
  2. Thanks John. I will check it out. Everything I know about the hybrid battery came from Britprius. I don't know if Techstream has the functionality of this app. If not, John would have loved it. John
  3. I think there have been three releases of iOS 15 - 15.0.1, 15.0.2 then 15.1. Love the trout Philip. Then on a fly? Bottom one into double figures? Pounds that is not kg. John
  4. What a wonderful find John. Many thanks. I have the app and was not surprised to find that my OBDii reader is "Mother of all junks". I will order a compatible one. Is this https://smile.amazon.co.uk/NEXAS-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Motorcycles-Specially/dp/B08BPC179W/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=NEXAS+Bluetooth+5.0+OBD2+Scanner&qid=1637232867&sr=8-5 the one you you have ordered John? John
  5. Niall, If you are goos with your hands and can solder then replace the battery in the old dead sensor. Britprius wrote back in 2019:
  6. Russell, Congratulations on your purchase and welcome. Does the manual give any explanation? John
  7. Andy, They break because the ball joints seize. Search web for "adjustable linkage rod". Here are some expensive ones on eBay John
  8. Matt, That is the textbook HID failure mode so time for a new pair. I have one £8 bulb and one £55 bulb. I cannot tell the difference. Even if the £8 fails in two years (it has done four so far) it will take 14 years before the £55 is better value. You choose. John
  9. Christopher, Thanks for this video. He seems not to have the big plastic cover over the hole initially. He does explain the locating the bulb and securing with the springs well. What neither of us mentioned was not to start replacement until the lights have not been powered for say 15 minutes to ensure any remaining charge has leaked away. John
  10. Paul, I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that the OP meant the HID bulbs i.e. not the main beam which are halogen. I've never changed the halogens which of course uare used much less than the HIDs. John
  11. John, What you suggest in your last paragraph is the Britprius service scheme. Been using it since Britprius suggested it in these forums. John
  12. Robert, Changing is straightforward. If you have small hands it is easier. Remove the engine covers and at each side you see a clear plastic cover which you unscrew - something like a quarter turn. Inside you will see the bulb holder held by two spring clips. Free the clips and the bulb holder and bulb come out. Change bulb being careful not to touch the envelope of the new one. If you do touch it, wipe it clean with surgical spirit. The bulb hold locates in the housing in the correct position. Hold it in position with the spring clips. The clip is fixed to the housing so there is no fear of losing it. If you were not trying to do this though a hole only slightly bigger than you hand it would be very easy. I have an £8 bulb one side and a £55 one the other side. I cannot tell the difference. A dealer will only fit expensive bulbs. I was quoted £85 to change a bulb which is why I found out how to do it myself. John
  13. Rajinder, The headlight flickering is the bulb reaching the end of its life. The right will follow shortly. Both should be replaced but that will not be covered under warranty. I don't know for sure but I doubt tracking - if that is the problem causing pulling to left - will not be covered by warranty either. Fortunately tracking adjustment and bulb replacement are straightforward jobs and need not be expensive You don't need a Lexus dealer to do those jobs. John
  14. Thank you all who contributed. I have now collected all the comments and will send them to Carol his widow. Please fell free to add more tributes if you wish but they will not get passed on. John
  15. Alexander, I have been using Summertown garage mention by royoftherovers above for over 50 years. They looked after my 1998 GS300 for 10 years (125k miles) when I swapped it for a 2007 GS450h. In the last few years seeing the direction the industry was going they trained up for servicing hybrids. This was a shrewd move. Last week I had my 54th MOT and minor service* for £199.98. This includes a battery check but not the year's warranty that Lexus would add. I'm nearing 15 year limit anyway. If you are in Oxfordshire you can't be that far from them. Give them a try. They will work with you if you do some things yourself. John * This is a Britprius idea. A minor service aside for oil and filters is mainly visual. Lots of the MOT is visual too. I have MOT and minor service every year and ask for occasional extra things like brake fluid swap that get done in a major service.
  16. John, Thank you. Interesting use of the word laser. My understanding is that the laser light stimulates fluorescence in a crystal which is the light that comes out. They call this "pure white LASER" even though it is not. "Turbo" could perhaps be added to imply even more output but that would not be true. Under LED fog lamps I found "Atom-E is available in 6500K white and 3000K yellow LEDS. The wavelength of the 3000K LED is very close to that of halogen light, which is of strong penetration and conducive to safe driving in foggy days." The italics are mine. What does "3000m throwing range" mean? It is possible to bounce laser light off the moon but not much comes back. Does that mean those lasers have a throwing range of 800,000m? Which is not to say that their 3000k fog light are not very good. I just object to pseudo science in advertising. John
  17. The spectral curve of LEDs is improving all the time. There were some very nasty spikes curves to start with but they are getting better. Lamp placing might well help but there is no way round the physics. Fortunately fog is fairly rare in the UK. My experience in my old Mk2 GS was such that the one time when I needed fog lights I had to stop and read the manual to find how to turn them on. John
  18. Col, I don't know what bulbs might be available but do take Herbie's comments into account. Light is scattered according to the fourth power of is wavelength. Roughly, blue light is scattered 16x more than red light. Light from your lamps which is scattered does not penetrate up the road. Worse lots of it comes back at you. That is the reason fog lamps are orange - much less scattering. The colour temperature should be low. A bulb with a colour temperature of 10k would make a very ineffective fog lamp. One with 3k would be very much better. John
  19. Thanks Herbie. As always this forum is a wonderful source of information and help. Thanks especially to johntag and others behind the scenes. John
  20. Job now completed. I glued the temperature sensor on with a dab of Plumbers Gold. I had to make a little male to male adaptor to fit the vent tube. There may have been one somewhere in the extremely thorough packing but I could not find one. I tried to keep 12V connected as I changed the battery but I knocked a lead off. The cabin was locked and with the new battery installed I could not get in using the remote and had to use the physical key. Settings for seats, connected key fobs and windows were lost but fortunately all stuff in entertainment system - phone numbers, locations, radio station etc. - were retained. Will this one be good for 15 years I wonder? The temperature is a refinement no previous car of mine has had. What is controlled by the temperature of the battery? John
  21. To answer my own question it is a little support which clips into a hole in the top of the battery. I mistyped my old battery date. It is 011106 -1st November 2006. Is anyone still using an older battery? John
  22. Sami, Thank you for starting this thread. My battery is the original dated -11106 and after an odd failure this week I have decided to replace it. I found prices for the three batteries in the first post of this thread on the Tayna website. I selected one and the site suggested an Enduroline because it was cheaper, higher capacity and longer warranty so I bought it instead. £59.95 + £7.97 delivery which is a huge saving over Lexus £230. although I will have to stick the temperature sensor on. Before I start there is a cream thing mounted back right on the old battery as shown in photo below. Does anyone know what it is please? Obviously a connector but i9s it simply using the battery as a support? Thanks John
