Thats a good price for those things with customs etc added still a good price, that said........ in this context the stored car above, no MOT & not currently driveable or insureable for public roads, is set against this car & others, please note, cambelt pump etc recently fitted.2 grand prior to being offered cash http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS400-V8-Automatic-Immaculate-/252948805003?hash=item3ae4ec758b:g:iZgAAOSwfRdZGZgv

Yes they are reasonable cost over there, but, when imported goods arrive here you have VAT added and on top of that you have customs duty which varies depending on what kind of goods your importing, when importing anything you would need to work out all that as well as what the courier charges (handling fees) when it gets here, you'll find theres barely any difference, if anyone buys anything they are only interested in total cost not what it would cost to someone living in another country. I speak as someone who imported goods for resale here, they cost me 10cents US per unit at source, by time I had paid all uk overheads (above) they worked out around 55pence per unit to me.

If I were looking for one, which I am not, this is not a car I would be interested in, what you might not realize is that many parts for LS400 cars of that year can only be got from lexus as genuine lexus parts & the prices for that year are horrendous, depending on part. If I were on the lookout for an LS400 I would have few qualms about taking on a LS 400, 1995 and younger, with a good service record and 250k on the clock, 250k is nothing to them. This one, no I would not go and look at it because it would need some Lexus mechi knowledgable person (plenty here) to even say what 'probably' needs doing as a necessity, hope that opinion is some use to you.

I got my LPG conversion done at Proffess S Wales, that was the top recommendation of apx 4 years ago & mine still. But, there was/is an awfull lot of LPG convertsions which are poor to awfull to catstrophic, so, if buying an LPG conversion I would either buy only a proffess conversion or find a lot of good feeback on any other, I add, stay away from any conversions done in London, where I live & from where i travelled to S Wales for my conversion

dendonc replied to dendonc's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Well Im 4 days in now, appx 70 miles, & they are still as quiet as when i wrote Tues evening, I see others have a problem especially 'sukrus' & the is250, I have no idea why. Someone said the originsl lexus on the LS400 were ceramic but Im a mechi illiterate so cant comment except Ive noticed there are problems with aftermarket pads more than I have ever experienced or known with any other make of car -
Brembo Pads
dendonc replied to dendonc's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Well, yesterday I had the brembo pads fitted front & lexus back, Ive only done around 25mile so far & some of that what someone called 'creeping brakeing'. I have had no noise issues whatsoever so far with them & no indication that might evlove, my indi mechi uses them as a norm when fitting pads, so thanks for all the feedback on them and also other pads (mintex etc), helped make the decision choice between these & Lexus front . -
Me? I've only just learned to change channels on a tv, I'd probably be looking in the boot to see where it all went Its off to my mechi this AM to get the whole lot done, including brakes (rear lexus, front brembo), cambelt kit, & what Ive always known as 'the fan belt' & MOT,so I thought I might as well buy the 'fan belt' (alias, serpantine belt, alias ancillery belt, alias drive belt alias something else) & get it done along with the rest of the work, so its MOT day +

Yes it does, the label on the package makes no sense compared to that list which is 97-00, maybe Im not the dummy after all Finally I understand, the gates belt I got as an alternative to the cambelt kit so I can keep the belt from the kit as a spare.........I must be a 'tireing' guy...as those blasted school reports suggested

What pads are you using?

Look, all I have heard of is the 'Serpantine' belt & the 'cambelt'.....all I know about them is that I need to change them, that, as far as I am concerned, is all I need to know, I havent a clue what an ancillaries belt is as that is knew to me, makes me wonder if I should have ordered one along with the cambelt & serpantine belt. I am not brand new to the LS400 or this forum, I was on this forum under 2 different names before a few years ago, I forgot those names or maybe password so joined with this name, in that time period I have only ever heard of 'cambelt', I posted this post because I was confused about a couple of things, so Tinolnline, does I now need to get an ancillary belt along with the serpantine & cambelts I have bought? I dont remember those being mentioned much before. Incidentaly, I would have first posted here around the time this vid was uploaded.
