  1. Transmission fluid as mentioned. Lexus wont do it by themselves. Owner must ask for it. During harder acceleration pay attention what is happening around 50-60mph. There will be a gear change it should be quick (1s) and smooth. You will notice torque will stop for a second and revs will stop to grow for that moment. Confirm spark plugs were done. Be prepared for 100k double coolant change. Check brakes conditions - at 90k original set might be ending soon. Expect to spend around 1k for whole set front+rear for Premier/F-Sport. Check last hybrid health check certificate. Try to look at shock absorbers, ideally under boot covers. At 90K they should be dry but if driven on poor roads all the time they might start to getting wet. As always check MOT history Ideally ask for a cold start. For few seconds engine might sound a bit loud but should get quiet in few seconds. 90k is not a lot for this car so if well looked after it will last way more. My previous GS has done 172k without any issues, and I'm sure it will do much more.
  2. To give some fairness to the seller, you can't expect to buy an used car without any cosmetic issues. Like small paint scratches seen on your pictures. Do you expect they will re-paint whole panel because of those scratches ? To be honest I would prefer a small scratch on original Japanese paint rather that UK pre-sales job 🙂 Alloys does look pretty nasty but again it is cosmetic only and maybe car was priced accordingly. I believe it is all up to the price. After all dealers are taking almost anything as part-ex. Those with cosmetic issues will be cheaper compared to more those in better condition. https://www.lexus.com/documents/brochures/cpo/Lexus-Certified-Pre-Owned-161-point-checklist-brochure.pdf - this one looks like US version checklist but UK one is probably similar. Still no definition what is "Lexus standard". PS. As for the alloys they looked like re-painted in the past already. Maybe before previous sale;)
  3. E10 is available in Germany for a few yers. It doesn't mean E5 is gone, it is just another option. Here is a typical choice you got: Super 95 E10 is normally few cents cheaper than standard Super 95 (E5) - choice is yours.
  4. Lexus Edgeware quoted me once 50% extra compared to Guildford which I use for many years now. I've been at Twickenham few times to watch some cars and got and positive experience. Hayes no opinion.
  5. I got a lot of good memories about that car. Mine was 1990 2.0 carbs auto in silver. I got it in 2004 when I was on Uni 🙂 4WS system was great but it does looked strange when you parked with steering wheel of centre and rear wheels were off. going back to the topic, you can do a good looking car without huge grill.
  6. We might be reaching turning point soon. I remember my 1st car got no grill at all: Where the 2nd one got small one. Back in the days it was normal but now it does look a bit funny: And here is where we are now:
  7. UK is not the best market for big petrol engines to start with and then if someone is in this market they will most probably go for something from Germany. Good example is a GSF - brilliant car but in the UK only 70 or so were sold in few years. LC500 is even more expensive which probably would lead to even smaller sales. As for the new LS, not a lot of changes but maybe early model will drop in price which then push down late 600h ones too.
  8. Hi, As no one has mentioned it yet, here is the news about next year LS facelift. https://www.motor1.com/news/432617/2021-lexus-ls-facelift-revealed/amp/
  9. Maybe I need to call them once again then as something might has changed since I booked the service.
  10. Few years back I got similar issue. The simplest method was to buy syringe (50ml) and long plastic hose (length of dip stick ideal). Just put it through dip stick down to oil sump and suck back unwanted oil.
  11. I'm not sure if extra 1cm will change pressure on pump inlet in any significant way. What I'm sure though is the oil aeration and foaming, which will happen due to crankshaft rotation. As a result you might loose pressure and flow which will end up as a damage. Above is of course only valid for wet oil sumps which GS got. There is quite big margin before it will happen so 100ml or 200ml shouldn't make any difference. Just make sure your spark plugs/combustion is good and your engine don't add extra fuel into oil over time 🙂
  12. I’ve found before they are not the best with emails. It is best to give them a call directly and book. Im using them for few years now and never paid extra for courtesy car. Most time I was given NX/CT/ES. I drop mine at 8am and come back to pick up after 5pm As for price 100k service it is major + coolant. Fixed prices states £710, essential option probably a bit cheaper. You also got free hybrid system check and warranty extension included in that.
  13. I got mine serviced in 2 weeks in Guildford. I'm planning as usual to take a courtesy car for a day. They haven't mentioned any extras for sanitise, I'm pretty sure they can cover £12 from the £500 they are going to charge me anyway 🙂
  14. I got the same feeling that facelift models right now are too expensive to what extra they offer. If I could buy 2014 for lets say 15k vs 2016 for 30k I don't see the value here. Yes millage will be lower on 2016 but 2014 won't be too hight either. I most probably will look for a replacement next year, if I'll be lucky some LS for under 40 will show up which would be a way better deal that face lift GS for 25 lets say.
  15. Rule has changed after 1st of April 2017. Now you are paying in car value and not co2 emission. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-vehicle-tax-rates-from-1-april-2017 Hence it is better to buy car registered after that if you want to keep it longer and enjoy 130£ per year later on.
  16. I'm also considering swap to GSF after buying a house which hopefully will be later this year or early next. Problem is there is not too many to choose from🙂 My alternative for now is Jaguar XJR. There is quite a few on the marker and the value is even better. Like this one for example: https://used.jaguar.co.uk/search#/details/3022798 Chassis design is older and it does lack few gadgets but for sure entertainment system is ages ahead of Lexus one, plus I don't know why but I like soft close doors 🙂
  17. I wouldn't use those for anything like control arm mounting but as John has stated it just hold "U" bracket which then hold rubber. There is not significant force put on those bolts. Using stainless steel wasn't about saving as those are even more expensive. I've done this trick before and never got any issues with it. Of course in case of some horrible bad luck even if bolt will fail nothing major will happen and should be easy noticeable with knocking sound. PS. I've only replaced a single bolt anyway 🙂
  18. Success, I’ve managed to flat the surface of the bolt with rotary. Then made a nice cut for a big flat screwdriver to settle in. last step was 1kg hammer. I have it few good whack and I’m home. I’ve managed to knock of the whole nut out of the subframe - with the bolt inside of course. now I just need new nut and bolt, I’m going to buy stainless steel to avoid similar issues in the future.
  19. Don't forget there is also a premium pack or whatever it is called you can buy for a basic version. It is an equivalent to Luxury grade before the global change in 2019.
  20. I wouldn't be too happy about pumping in oil or anything else beyond air/brake fluid. As for using car hydraulic I don't like it as you will end up with some splash when piston jumps out. As you probably know brake fluid is very aggressive to paint so you might end up with damaged worth more that new calliper early 🙂 My last stuck piston was few years ago on my 2009 Honda Accord. Compressed air with wooden cushion on the other side was good enough. If you got a very stubborn case and need more than 10 bar then you could try to use car hydraulics. From my experience though it was never necessary. As for grease gun, maybe it is just mine but I doubt it will put any significant pressure and for sure not more than 10 bar.
  21. If piston is stuck you need to get it out rather than push it back 🙂 Most often they stuck due to corrosion so you need to clean it if possible or replace a piston. Most probably new set of seals also will be needed. Best method I know to remove stuck piston is comprised air. But be careful as piston might come of as a bullet so you must use wood or similar avoid it.
  22. I can see not only me spend those extra free hours on catching up with car jobs. I was working today on my wife CRV. Plan was replace rear sway bar bushing. Guess what - last bolt has snapped... Now I'm in middle of drilling through it but need rotary tool for the last precise bits. Will arrive on Wednesday 🙂
  23. Why are you not using Lexus warranty ? Car is still eligible and at £60 per year (if not serviced with Lexus) it is like for free.
