  1. Still nothing heard back from Insurance. As promised, here is another picture showing the misalignment with the door. The gap between the door and wing is far greater than the other side (you can also see where the top of the wing is bent)
  2. Are you sure it is oil and not residue from some tired old thread grease? If the tips of the plugs, the actual element part, is clean, there isn't anything to worry about, if the elements are oily, then there is a problem. I put copper grease on my threads when fitting me new plugs. The coils on mine were dirty, I also thought they looked oily but the only way out of the cylinder is via the crush washers. The top of the coil has an orange seal
  3. He asked me about the handling which is still stright and true, I haven't noticed anything different accelerating, driving or braking. No vibrations either. He did say about blending the colour to the door and also full wheel alingment. He didn't go into detail about how they check the wheel. The colour is Satin Black, I've been looking for a touch up pen for a while but none of the usual places have it, I'm sure Lexus will but I haven't gone there yet.
  4. Assessment has been done. New Front Wing Bumper sanded/repainted Door mirror surround/casing to be replaced Wheel to be removed, checked and either replaced or refurbished. Heard nothing from the Insurance yet. He did notice something with the wing which I hadn't noticed, it is out of alignment with the drivers door. He said the whole wing has bowed. Busy now but I'll upload a picture in a couple of days.
  5. I've been searching for any footage of my crash, although nobody stopped to act as witness, I was hoping some dashcammer caught my crash and uploaded it. I didn't find mine but I found one pretty identical, although I was a lot further forward so I couldn't see the guy turning into me. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/watch-abbey-wood-roundabout-crash-80694
  6. I have been kicking myself about not fitting it yet, I had one for years in my old 5 Series. It is still sat in my garage, I just haven't worked out exactly how to fit or connect it up yet. This is how it fitted in my BMW, nice and discreet, no suckers on the windscreen, cables routed to a usb in the glovebox. I don't want a sucker on the screen but can't see any obvious way of fitting it without on this car.
  7. Excess is £300. I guess it boils down to being able to claim back my excess, whcih depends on him taking 100% liability. If it goes 50/50 then I am better off getting my own quotes and sucking back out of the claim but then I have a claim against me anyway. Lose/Lose.
  8. Found a Youtube clip already showing the cars going the same was as I tried to. I was going exactly as the camera car
  9. Because he claims both the left and middle lanes go into the Retail park (single lane entry). He claims to go onto the A174 you need to be in the right hand lane, and turning right. Guys a lunatic but with my persistance of trying to explain, and watching all the other road users going the way I stated, he remained adamant both me, and all the cars going onto the A4174 are wrong, ALL OF US. Thanks for all the replies, I know I am right but it is still nice to get comforting words of support. Filming the roundabout in action is a good idea, I will do that tomorrow and upload it to Youtube, then send the Insurance company the link. I have been cut up at that place before with some woman doing the same thing but as it happened in front of me I could brake in time. This nutter came from behind me though, my car was right in front of him but he still did it. Here is the damage to the other car. the bumper is cracked although it looks like a scuff in the picture. A few others of the damage to mine. Doesn't show in these but my wing is bent right on the top edge up where the bonnet shuts. Pictures don't really come out too weill due to the colur of the car, too many reflections.
  10. That's exactly my stance, I've completely refuted any blame. I think my explanation was good, especially making the guy stand and watch all the other cars going the same way as I had intended afterwards, but the other guy said ALL the other road users were wrong, and he is right.
  11. I did consider that but as the other driver was in a 17 plate car, he will be claiming against me. I thought it isn't going to look good if it comes out that I didn't report it straight away. There were dozens of witnesses but by the time I had got out and had the initial exchange of words, they had all moved on...typical.
  12. Had the car since Feb and some nutjob crashed into me yesterday. The other guy was a complete tool, absolutel blamed me for everything and flurried the personal insults at me. My first crash I've ever had since I started driving in 1986 so I'm pretty annoyed about it. I am going through insurance but they have warned me that roundabout incidents are nearly always considered a "Shared Blame" so both parties are at fault. I've attached a schematic and a picture of the damage. I've also written a full statement of what happened. I don't want to let this drop and accept shared liability but with no previous experience of claiming, does anyone know what else I could do to help prove my case? Car is being inspected by a body shop in three days time, damage is to the wing, wheel, bumper and door mirror, mostly cosmetic and could by fixed with a few bangs, sand & paint.
  13. Replied via PM but yes, mine did not have a fuel line into the manifold, no idea why or what the difference is. It is good engineering practice to change seals once they have been broken open but as they are quite expensive, I took a punt and inspected them. They were in pretty much perfect condition so I left them in place. I've had no issues since the change.
  14. This sort of thing can happen if the battery it's not disconnected first. It's common in an awful lot of turbo cars. It often isn't logical when apart from a couple of plugs, there is very little interference with electrical components when changing a turbo.
  15. Start with the simple and disconnect the battery for few minutes and see what happens.
  16. I used the 3M kit on my old 5 Series. The results were quite astonishing, they came out like new and they had some pretty bad clouding around the edges beforehand. It is a bit scary when you go at it with the rough stuff seeing all the plastic coming off, they go completely white before you start making things better. It comes with green tape to protect the bodywork but it isn't very good at all, when the pad is in a drill it simply goes right through the tape. Similarly, you can't get into the corners with the diameter of the pad so despite what it says, the headlights really do need to come out to do a proper job.
  17. Does seem strange, I have no knowledge of the Lexus in this respect but if it were a BMW, the engine light would come on after 2/3 starts, not immediately. Although the engine light would come on, the car would not go into Limp mode, it would drive fine, the only annoyance would be the engine light on the dash.
  18. Interested in this one, I was going to buy the same sort of can a few days ago (quick whiff of stale urine for a few seconds lol). You could put it on recirc and ramp the fan speed up, then wave a piece of tissue at the vents to see which one is sucking.
  19. You are not alone, I lose FM reception completely when I switch the rear demister on. The rear elements don't seem to form a complete loop (on mine), there are loads of dead ends and gaps. I don't mean small gaps, a good couple of inches. It looks like it is designed like that. I have read there is an Amp above the rear roof liner but I haven't had the guts to start pulling anything out to find it. Heat Sensor on the battery box sounds interesting, I haven't noticed that.
  20. Was the half hours labour simply because they already had the inlet manifold off for the pressure sensor or did the half hour include taking the manifold off? A Full Service is £485 which does not involve removing the manifold A 60k service including plug change is £645. A difference of £160 to take the manifold off and change the plugs (assuming price of plugs is included). As you say, they need to make their profits! I did mine on the drive but I can understand the "side of the road" problem. Backwards and forwards with sheets of plastic covers and fetching tools would be a chore.
  21. P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor Possible cracked vacuum or PCV line/connection Faulty or stuck open PCV valve Failed or faulty oxygen sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) Sticking/plugged or failed fuel injector Low fuel pressure (possible plugged/dirty fuel filter!) Exhaust leak between engine and first oxygen sensor
  22. Yes. Easier than taking an inlet manifold off a 530D which I have done a number of times. Having the right tools helped, I can see why that rear manifold bolt would take a while if you only have standard right angled sockets, I did try that first but it's a non starter. I reckon you could get it down to just over an hour by going balls out and have experience.
  23. In my old BMW 530D days we used to use this video as a good example of what it can be like removing a stuck injector lol
  24. Well on a normal run today I am satisfied changing them has made a difference. I suggested earlier the car felt "snappier" but more accurately, the car was more twitchy and jumpy on the gear changes. The revs climb much faster. I haven't owned the car very long but one particular part of my route sees the speed limit rise from 30 to 50 right at the bottom of an uphill section. I always keep the car set to ECT PWR as the car would be left behind whilst everyone else accelerated (two lanes) if I was in Eco mode. To keep up I would have to almost bury the throttle to kick down a gear or two if it were in normal Eco mode. I've switched back to Eco mode now and I can keep up with everyone else comfortably. I'm convinced now those original plugs are 92k worth of wear. I guess I am simply restoring the car to what it should be like. Both the MAF clean and the plug change have made positive improvements.
