  1. I'm seeing 620 miles from a full tank, driving up to about 20 miles with the fuel light having come on. I'm putting about 54 litres in when I do that (based on last fill up)
  2. Its the best looking exec saloon on the market at the moment, in my opinion (though the Alfa Romeo Giulia runs it close). it has both interesting design features and its consistent in its theme that carries in to the interior as well. I 100% agree the bling free yet very high quality interior is a relief. I've looked at the latest E-Class and its just too much, the screens I like but the gloss and switch gear too distracting. Congrats on your choice!
  3. I agree completely - its a superb gearbox that just works fantastically when driving normally. Yes it lacks the visceral interaction that gives cars their edge but the car itself is superbly balanced, grips well and actually has plenty of poke with it too... I've had mine from new, about 18 months now and I would say it took me a while to really get used to it, I've really gelled with it and its true that its a car and gearbox that is often judged too quickly by journalists. Every passenger I have had in it, think its excellent and I highly recommend the IS to anyone...
  4. During the summer months I average over 50mpg but as the weather gets colder it drops to low 40-mid 40s. I've been really impressed with the mpg, better than what I was expecting I have to say.
  5. Also the headlight redesign and new alloy wheels really work imo...the wheels are a shadow gloss, really stylish design!
  6. I have the my2017 executive edition and my friend has the pre facelift executive edition, i also initially thought I'd be disappointed not having full leather but the tahara trim is actually very good and it blends well with the leather, so it wasn't a big loss for me. again the parking sensors was also a concern but it has a rear camera instead - it's an easy car to park and the camera makes being accurate very easy so I've not missed parking sensors at all, in fact it keeps the car very very quiet! the LED headlights and auto highbeam are excellent, as is the radar cruise control. personally I think the executive Edition is al you need, your certainly won't feel short changed by getting it...the advance brings A few extras but personally for me they don't quite justify the price difference. hope this helps
  7. Are the connected services standard or do you need an upgrade? I have an out of box MY2017 Executive edition. Thanks!
  8. The facelifted IS now has a revised centre console that brings bolstered padding as standard, but not all the way down as it does in the RC. The facelift also address the 'stuck on top' nature of the audio and HVAC panel thanks to the alignment of the new bolsters.
  9. I spent a lot of time on YouTube watching the various reviews. Certainly all the mainstream ones simply followed the same theme, I got the distinct impression that they didn't spend enough time in the car. I think AutoCar had a long term test which came out much better. As I've recently said in another post, I'm so impressed with my car so far (coming up on 900 miles!) Its a great cruiser, and very suited to British roads in my opinion, it handles very well - at speed the body control really shines. I found these reviews really helpful for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9Gg9W75d48 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIAtFkXqndk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlUYP5aUt-0
  10. flicking the gear over to sport is also what I do - makes pulling out of junctions on to busy roads is much better - the car is really quick. The other thing I note, and this is common to a lot of other automatics is that by default, when you pull away you're in the equivilent of '2nd' gear (whatever that means for a CVT anyway!) so you can pull back on the lever and drop it to '1' and you get a very swift getaway indeed, without any lag
  11. I've had mine since early April now, I've yet to see another face lift model so feeling pretty exclusive at the moment...the first one I see is going to get a flash and wave from me! I'm so impressed with the car and wholly agree with others comments about the car reviews being so negative, it really doesn't give the car the justice it deserves
  12. I don't have the ML, just the standard set up...My Mazda 6 that I've just come from had a Bose system which was excellent - extremely good sound quality at any volume. bluetooth audio source is a poorer quality because of the transfer rate but USB or CD was great. in comparison to the Lexus, the standard setup is very poor, my wife's Polo is better to be honest. It's my one real complaint about the car, everything else it excels at though I've only had it three weeks!
  13. Oh wow that looks good I might do that, I am in a hard water area! It looks like you out it on at the tap end is that right? Assume it'll go on an outside tap fitting? thanks!
  14. Ummm...exactly those reasons! Plus it's detergent proof, or at least pretty good at it as long as you don't use the wash and wax all in products or very strong shampoos. I found adding it as a top layer really finished it off - super smooth paint work, easy to clean and long lasting, 6 months in my experience :-)
  15. This is exactly what Did on a Civc I had in Nighthawk black! It looked ace and you'll find a quick wash once a week is all you need now! If it were me id also top the EGP with some collinite 576s rhe tricky thing now is the water marks and drying - I've just washed my IS (it's in Velvet black and 2.5 weeks old!) and I already have swirl marks which is so annoying on black cars they really stick out! Need to get myself a decent silicon blade and plan in some SPR to fill those swirls myself!
  16. I think the NX power output is around 200bho rather the IS 220?? my friend test drive the GS, NX and the IS and went for the IS as it didn't feel underpowered like the other two
  17. You can adjust its sensitivity, and I haven't played around with it too much to be honest.... it's beeped at me a few times in the following scenarios and for each, I was initially thinking what?! Come on?! But on reflection I think it was pretty fair warning: 1) driving down my road which is twisty and park d cars everywhere, at low speed (ev mode of course! ;-) as I go to round one particular corner it beeps at me in thinking I'm going to hit the car in front - it doesn't know I'm going to turn and so warns me to brake 2) behind a car turning left it's beeped at me as I've carried on and the car turns left... with this one I think this is more me seeing that the cars speed turning left is plenty enough for me to only brake lightly and move slightly over to the right but the car is again warning me that there is still an object there - I guess it doesn't know that by the time I get there the car will have gone all in all I think it's a great system and anything that helps me improve as a driver is a good thing, I'm not offended if the car beeps at me :-) hope this helps
  18. Does anyone know how to do that?! thanks!
  19. Of course every company is guilty of that for sure, availability and economics creep in eventually. However I've read articles from some of the car magazines that do talk about tyre development in alignment to certain cars, perhaps the motivation is in the other direction... there are of course very specific tyre matches, look at Lotus and Renault Sport for example. ...and back to Lexus this: http://www.yokohama-online.com/News/YEU/2013/Q2/BluEarth-E51-on-Lexus-IS
  20. I had the goodyears on a Golf GTD (lease car!) it wasn't a great match for the vehicle at all - they didn't handle the torque performance of the vehicle, especially in the wet...BUT they were quiet tyres and did feel more comfortable the oem Dunlops, but those are known to be quite hard tyres! Hope that helps!
  21. For the MY2017 they've changed to Yoko BluEarth E51...whilst not an F-Sport, it might be worth calling a Lexus dealer and see what they are now shipping with. I've generally always understood that manufacturers tend to team up with a particular tyre brand and often design / tune the car and it's NVH around a given tyre / range. I can well imagine a brand like Lexus doing this and working closely with someone like Yokohama... certainly no complaints on my new car anyhow but I'm not yet in a position to comment on tyre performance over varying conditions, only had it two weeks!
  22. Ah Okay - don't see many in that blue in my neck of the woods at all then, really stands out :-) Not that ive tried it with blues but Bilt Hamber do some great products, the Finis wax and hydra waxed are not so easy to work with and last a very long time, they can go any surface, including rubber etc with staining. In fact I've used it on my alloys as well!
  23. I did have a choice but unfortunately my time constraints meant I could get to the dealer so they broke get it out to me - got a full run through of the car which was helpful as Radio and Sat Nav are a bit complicated!! dealer was very knowledgeable and not rushed at all :-)
  24. Very very nice!! Is that the new Blue Mica Pearl?? Ive ended up with simple Velvet Black (company car) but even that looks great, it will be kept clean and waxed though which is the only way for black cars! If I could have chosen colour it would have been this blue or the storm titanium.
