  1. Get all the brake calliper slide pins cleaned up and greased ASAP as a first action after getting a new to you IS250 ( as this job is not in any Lexus service schedule) and redo it every year as a minimum. While in there you can check level of meat on pads and clean everything else up, quite a satisfying job if you are not rushed!
  2. It’s a US spec along with a garage door opener remote option!
  3. “3 times the spark means a more efficient burn” But does it? Or is the energy that goes into making one spark gonna be shared between 3 arcs and make 3 sparks that in total equal to the one big one? ( because it’s the same amount of energy coming from the coil, I dunno, just putting it out there!
  4. To be honest, Unless for some reason they get flagged up in any sort of error code I don’t intend going about changing mine until the 100,000 mark! They were last changed at the 6 year/60,000 mile service by Lexus Edgware Rd when it had 21,000miles on it ( After 6 years!) and I only got 45,000 miles on it now, so gonna be a while Yet!
  5. Not really cause I still had the 465 which they all wanted! Just seen that there is one on Fleabay right now for £3k and it's a bit of a doer upper as well! Check out the fuel tank!!! Link ( while it lasts!) is https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-IT-465-1982-2-STROKE-TWINSHOCK-ENDURO-BIKE-IN-GREAT-CONDITION-vinduro/274508436670?hash=item3fe9fa54be:g:cpAAAOSwENVfbc8Y And seller is Deffo nothing to do with me!
  6. Check out the thread below, and I have actually got that piece of rubber/foam in my car right now which must have been fitted by a dealer prior to my ownership.
  7. I can't really make much out from those very short vids ( apart from the derv doing what it does best!) And +1 on above re cabin filter but remember to only ‘play’ with it in ‘’Recirculating” mode or you may break the door/servo linkage.
  8. I did have a X7 for six months, took it as a payment for a job, it was ok in a straight line but it didn’t like the bendy bits! And I Just couldn’t get on with the drop clip on bars either! Most of my mates went for the 350LC and I went and got a DR600 !!!
  9. Check out this 'How To' on 250 plug renewal and note no special tools required but just have to 'move' a fair bit of stuff out of the way to get to the right bank of plugs, that's why it cost so much at dealers!
  10. Happy day, Cheapest fix you could possibly have for a Lexus I reckon ( removing some oil!) Thanks for coming back and posting the remedy to your problem, hopefully others may benefit if they have similar symptoms in the future. paul m.
  11. Talking of 2-Strokes and Definitely not on the quite side I have a Yam IT465j in the back of my garage waiting for the day I have time to give it a bucket load of TLC, had it from new in the crate back in May 1982....£1256 with a spare aluminium fuel tank ( unused to date!) worth a fair bit more now apparently! paul m.
  12. The 250 exhaust was mild steel from the factory as opposed to stainless steel, admittedly very heavy gauge and this accounts for the very quite nature of the car, a SS system would allow a lot more noise to escape as it would be made with a far thinner gauge material, That exhaust looks very much in the same condition as mine and unless its actually leaking anywhere then it should not be a worry, yes it will go eventually because it will rust and the favourite site is near the crutch of the 'Y' section, but it may just look a lot worst than you think. Also could be a possible bargaining point!
  13. Spec/Model trim level should be identifiable on drivers B pillar near door lock Nader pin.
  14. +1 on above advice as this document calls it something different but still code 1G0
  15. Like I mentioned above I had the pleasure to meet your dad in his garage, the very same garage the 250 & ISF lived in to purchase d SF one 250 parts and felt he was a very knowledgeable and pleasant person, sorry for your loss but don’t lose your memories. paul m.
  16. Here is a snippet from the brochure of the options that were available.
  17. A MOT should have picked up ( Advisory or Fail) any wear or play in any of the critical running gear components if you have had one recently.
  18. In ACC mode the increments are 5 mph and in normal mode it is 1 mph.
  19. Normal Lexus embalm for a IS shown below and then an IS fitted with ACC.
  20. You are right but this print out has the figures in Red Or Green and it looks like the REVISION sheet had actually been made worst as it now has some Red Figures!
  21. +1 on going somewhere else, ATS may have Gucci alinement machine but the results are only gonna be as good as the gorilla working it! If you can feel something is not right when driving down the road then it is way out as a slight mis-alinement will not be felt and these machines can detect a fleas todger's difference!
  22. Forward facing microwave transmitter is not physically impaired in any way you can see is it? Note: The Cruise Control system can also be used in ‘standard’ mode and you have not inadvertently entered this mode have you?
  23. MM includes ( I might have missed summat!) DVD playback ( when Park Brake is On) Maintenance information & Dealer info Calendar with Memos Hands Free Phone connectivity Voice command for interior equipment Air ConControls Rear View Camera Display Oh and SatNav!
