  1. Also at that mileage it could ( if not succumbed to the infamous " front tyres worn on inside edge" advisory- can't check mot history at present) still be wearing the oem rubbers! And now at 13+ years old they could be past their best to say the least. I recall that they were thinking about giving tyres a 'lifespan' until a MOT failure point, say 7 years from manufacture date, not sure if it actually came to fruition.
  2. I won’t be phoning them as I am not actually in the market for a 250 as I already have a peachy one ( ISF then you’re talking!) but wanted a discussion on the pro/con points.
  3. Ok...so if I drive like Miss Daisy I can get excess of 40 ( indicated) MPG so Avg of 1330 per year then that could amount to less than 3-4 tanks of fuel! So I’m with you on ‘Not good’ so far as petrol goes stale and turns nasty in the process ( sticky, slimy & Staines like a varnish)
  4. Looks sweet, but don’t understand and have never seen before ( on a 250 anyway) the MOT advisory in 2010 ‘play in top of steering column’ ! But was not advised 3,000 miles later at the next MOT or ever since!
  5. There is a SE-L on AT right now ( no link added as it won’t be there for ever!) that is up for top dollar money because it as only got 17,300 miles on for a ‘57 plate, So as the title says is this good or possibly not so good for a 13/14 year old top quality motor? ( can’t check details as no reg visible) paul m. Note: weirdly it Has got Moonroof but no multimedia package!
  6. That is deffo a lot of car for not a lot of money, mot history is fine ( tyres...well they are made of rubber and wear out!). Alloys look brilliant so must have been refurbished I guess. And the mileage is about right ( all adds up on MOT history) and the recalls appear to have been done. Only reservation I got is that your wife will end up with an ‘Auto’ only driving license which could be a real bind later! Not that I’m suggesting you get a manual 250 as I would not recommend that to anyone.
  7. Exactly!....dealers are very frugal with the truth to say the least when it comes to 'condition' anyway and you have really got to stand in front of it to see if it comes anywhere near your own version of immaculate!
  8. Like I said the ‘immaculate’ 250 I went to see at this garage was far from it and it had loose bumpers also!
  9. Price ‘dropped’ to £16,800 now! Can’t remember what it was up for to start with? Aahhhhh just looked at his ‘previous ads’ and it was up for £18,500.
  10. sign of the times? bit less £££££'s about perhaps? anyone been tracking the prices over the last say 3 years?
  11. I fitted mine after any back up was gonna be available because I wanted to show that the car was locked from a distance. ie mirrors folded in then car is locked 👍
  12. Well done that man for getting ‘amongst’ it with the spanner’s and not having to sell a kidney for Lexus to do it! You can sleep soundly now I bet!
  13. Chances of two reservoirs being faulty is a bit slim so I think you might have to come to terms that it has succumbed to the infamous HG problem!
  14. If your car has just passed it's MOT ( with some 'Advisory' notes attached) then you don't need it MOT'ed again til next year and if the 'Advisory' items get addressed with the warranty work then they won't be a problem next year.
  15. The guy ( assumption!) on the workshop floor wielding the spanners and identifying anything & everything that is not in a tip top condition on you car has got no idea if you have any warranty or not and who is gonna be paying be pay for it, he is just doing his job and looking out for his mate in the parts dept! These 'immediate attention' areas....have they been advisories on a mot previously? I guess not by your surprise!
  16. +1 on checking out the battery before going down the Alternator route. factory fitted battery ( you could very well still have OEM battery!) looks like this and this one is dated 14 july(07) 2007.
  17. That's proper weird! Gonna cost a fortune in screenwash. Does it only do it when you are above a certain speed? What starts it off? I would try and disconnect ( electrically, either fuse or pull plug on pump if you can get to it) the rear wash to check if it is the pump or some spooky syphonic action at speed!
  18. That’ll be the ‘one Touch’ feature! Note it will stop working and need resetting if you do a Battery removal Also note that the roof can still be operated for upto 45 seconds after IGN off provided you do not open any doors! You can also open/close it via the remote key fob!
  19. Manual has it as 1.15L for the 2WD IS250 so gotta get another 1L bottle just for that 150ml !!!
  20. Gotta ask OP, do you normally have at least 1/3 of a tank of fuel in you car as I have been told that running a car ( with an In Tank Electric fuel pump) with less than this can cause pump problems as the pump is cooled and indeed lubricated by the actual fuel in the tank and if continually low then This may not happen!
