  1. I have never had an issue with the Mark Levinson system. No code needed.
  2. HID uses up to 25,000Volts AC to drive the bulb. The "ballast" converts 12v DC to the required voltage AC and manages the arc in the bulb. Safe enough to change the bulbs if the car is off and the battery disconnected. You will need D2S HID bulbs for the low/dipped beam and Halogen 9005/HB3 bulbs for high beam. When replacing the D2S I strongly recommend buying reputable brand bulbs (Osram or Philips) as some of the "budget" ones have the arc in the wrong place and result in a crap light pattern. The budget ones also do not last anywhere near as long.
  3. Since the LS460/600 radio has the standard Toyota 6+6 connector, I assume you should be able to add a Bluemusic module to it for Bluetooth playing of music. https://www.musikimauto.de/search/?qs=toyota https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Audio-Interface-Toyota-Auris/dp/B07JN9MD28 If something is already using the 6+6 socket (does the LS600h have a CD changer in the boot?) then you will also need the 6+6 Y-cable. I use that on my LS430 and it works extremely well giving CD quality audio from my phone. All I have to do is hit the CD button on the radio twice to select CD2. I bought and fitted a USB charger that I hard wired to a switched 12v line so that I have a dedicated charge cable for my phone without monopolising the cigarette lighter socket. It also powers my TomTom satnav. https://www.amazon.co.uk/JZK-Converter-Voltage-Connectors-charging/dp/B06XSCCLCD W.r.t. the Firestick, that could work but running video streaming via a cellphone in a moving car is probably going to pause a lot due to buffering, especially if you get stuck in a traffic jam where all nearby users are using the mobile data channels.
  4. 11492-20010 PLATE, WATER SEAL You'll have to order it from a Lexus/Toyota dealer. Looks like this (this engine is upside-down!)
  5. I believe that it also depends on whether you have the 17" or 18" wheels on your LS430. I believe that the 2002 came with 17".
  6. Since it was marginal last year and has failed this year it is almost certainly that the CATs are less efficient to the point where you are getting CO in the exhaust. The catalytic plating on the ceramic matrix in the CAT doesn't last forever. I think you will need new CATs.
  7. Welcome aboard Yousuf Sounds like you got yourself a low mileage bargain. Wipers, battery, bonnet struts are all easy enough to do. Make sure that the struts you buy come with the fittings. Pads & disks are also easy enough to do. When was the last timing belt change? They should be every 90k miles or 9 years so it should have been changed twice already. Normally there is a sticker under the bonnet somewhere telling when/mileage the last change was.
  8. To get the car fully off the ground I have always used Ramps for the rear wheels (jack up the rear and put the ramps under each rear tyre) and then jacks and axle stands at the front. With the handbrake on and in Park she isn't going to move unless you get really violent with her. For what you are doing, maybe use 4 ramps or else some solid blocks of wood. With 4 ramps you can orient them such that the car cannot move at all. DO NOT use piles of bricks. I have seen the damage that they do when a car collapses onto them. My mate was underneath at the time and all that saved him is that he had left the jack in place and was working near it. He needed a tranquiliser and new trousers after that
  9. If you do go down the ACF50 route, make certain that absolutely none of it gets on your brake disks/pads. You can clean it off the disks with spray brake cleaner, but once on a pad, the only fix is to replace the pad. It is good stuff though. I used to use it on my motorcycles but these days I simply don't ride in the winter.
  10. That's not going to be very comfortable lying on cobbles under the car, even with a pad, or do you mean block paving rather than cobbles? If you do go with the sandbags that attach to the poles, make certain that the bags are solidly secured to the poles and that each section of pole is securely taped to the next section. A friend had his blow away leaving the sandbags and the bottom pole section of each leg, even though they were clipped together with those pins that pop into a hole in the attaching section.
  11. He's a lightweight, although slightly taller than me. I'm 1m93 (6'4") and 200Kg (31.5 Stone),..... so yeah,... BIG!! 😁 And no, it's not muscle. 🙄
  12. 🤣 No. I got my nickname because I used to sign emails sent to a motorcycling email listserver (way back in the 1990s) with "Boomshanka" (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/boomshanka) followed by my name, and people on the listserver started calling me Boom which soon became Boomer as it's a common US nickname.
  13. I'm not at all surprised. Between Brexit and the Tories other changes to import/export processes exporting from the UK to the EU or vice-versa is now a royal PITA and has made many UK products uncompetitive in the EU and elsewhere. But no, Boris had to have the hard-Brexit his puppet-masters wanted and now we all get to suffer the consequences.
  14. Congrats On the headphones I looked into this when I was considering an LS460 nearly 6 years ago and I believe that any infrared headphones can be paired with the Lexus system. Otherwise there are a few available on eBay like this pair. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305204769374
  15. Either CTRL+ALT+ 4 or ALT GR(right ALT)+4 does the € symbol. I'm pretty certain that the LS600h has sidelights (bulbs) and Daytime Running lights (LEDs). Only the sidelights have to work to pass the MOT.
  16. If you look on ebay there are reconditioned OE air-struts for around £300 each. That cheap one probably won't last very long but at that price might be worth it.
  17. Well, the new camera works perfectly. In the attached pic you can see the old and replacement cameras side by side. Corrosion was once again the cause of death, as it was for Marks camera. Once I removed the trim to get at the bolts I saw that the metal around the number plate lights was starting to rust so sanded that back and painted with Kurust and then Smoothrite. It's hidden by the trim. Was quite a PITA to get that trim off as the 2 clips on the extreme ends were bent over. Done now and happy with it again. 😁
  18. Sometimes a "reset" works. Just disconnect the battery, wait a few mins, then reconnect. Otherwise it sounds like there is a problem with the head unit or the wiring.
  19. Oh they will, but not for a few years yet. The LS400 was low production volume and a fair number of those have been scrapped. An American friend has a 23-window bus that he customised in the early 70s and still drives to Bug-Meets over there. He says people often get angry with him because he customised it. He used to explain that his family has owned it since new and he customised it 50 years ago but now he just smiles and laughs at them. One guy told him he would buy it for $50k just so he could return it to stock. Apparently he told that guy to **** off! 🤣
  20. Malc is gonna LOVE that LS400 🤣🤣 Go to 08:50 if you don't want to watch the whole vid.
  21. Qamar, I just tested it using the exact method shown in your video (thanks ) and the window/sunroof open function works (and it beeeeeeps whilst doing it), but the close function does not work. About then only time I would want the open function is on a hot day to get some air into the car, but the close function I would use almost all of the time to make sure that all windows & sunroof are closed. Perhaps someone else can check with their facelift LS and see if they get the same results?
  22. Doesn't work on my 2004 LS430. I just tried it in both directions and it does absolutely nothing with the Windows. I'll have a look in TechStream when I am next connected, but I looked pretty thoroughly last time and found nothing then.
  23. Would be an excellent idea (air-con on recirculate), except that the air-con stopped working 2 years ago and I haven't gotten around to getting it fixed yet. The heater still works perfectly. If I was still commuting in it every day (120 miles per day) then it would have been fixed 2 years ago, but since Covid I work 100% from home, so the car now does under 50 miles per week.
