  1. The actual vulnerability requires physical access to the Raspberry Pie so while it should be patched someone must really want to target you to use it to break in to your home network 😉 - quite a few of the new generation chargers are actually affected though only two were named. At present Zap Maps is your friend if you are pre-planning or have the app on your phone - note I do not use it's aggregator payment service, so no clue how good that is.
  2. As some one who has a Zoe50 as well as his Lexus and has now done nine sets of 200 miles oop north, stay a few days then 200 miles back down south I can recommend trying to keep to 60/65 rather than 70 if you're not in a hurry. You should find the range improves. Also once it gets colder be prepared for a shock. Aircon does not use much power as it's not being driven off a crank pulley, however to heat up the air to keep the car warm and demist the windows, along with headlamps on and windscreen wipers on .... do not be surprised to see a drop in range of ~20-25%. Last week I did the trip north in the Zoe (keeping costs down at the moment as the end of 100% furlough resulted in me job hunting) and at 60/65 I managed ~4.4 miles/kW. Coming back down south on Saturday there was some heavy rain and I was driving at times closer to 70 with the result my consumption dropped to ~4.1 miles/kW. Few more weeks and even at 60/65 I'll be looking at 3.8-3.9 miles/kW.
  3. Looked it up on Zapmap - mine is Polar/BP Pulse - looks like it's £1.20 connection charge unless you have a BP Pulse account, at which point it's totally free, then the actual charging is free - might test next time I'm there, though they're the old 3.6kW type - there's a pair with cones ion the way to dissuade ICE drivers - never seen more than one car using them.
  4. Another Zoe50 GTLine owner here (alongside my GS450h). Do you need an app for the ASDA charger? My local one it's free to charge but a £1 connection charge - my weekly shop never last long enough to make it worth it (I'm 10.4p per kW off peak). If you have a local Tesco - they're totally free, though older sites have a mix of 3.6 and 7.2kW chargers. Actually - the fast chargers are free, they're starting to roll out rapid chargers as well - you have to pay for those.
  5. OK prices mentioned above are scary \00/ You can guess why I was looking at this thread - an AA monitoring dongle basically kept draining the battery (now permanently removed) - using a jump start pack the car would start straight away but needed running every week. Catch was someone drove in to my car in a private car park - all amicably sorted out by them and their insurance however the repairers just rang me over the battery - now will no longer take a charge (didn't realise it was a gel type until they said - now surprised it lasted this long) - the repairers just want £98+VAT with no charge for fitting - I can get it slightly cheaper but I think I might go for it as from the above it is a very good price and saves me the effort.
  6. Just seen this thread - as some one else has surmised, the problem lies with the way Apple have implemented Bluetooth and their power saving functions, not the car. If there's nothing connected to the phone after a period is turns off it's listener to save power. This can also cause cookies containing the encrypted connection keys to be cancelled on the phone side, which is why you have to re-authenticate. I doubt Apple are interested in fixing this as it's been a 'feature' for a good few years now. While I'm not an iPhone user I have gone through the settings for a friend (who was tethering another phone off is - just don't ask about Pokemon Go and multiple accounts 😉 ) and there is no option to disable the time out. Note the same problem does not exist with WiFi as the security is not as a strong, being just a password key. On my latest Android phone I did note that either OnePlus (7 pro) or the latest release of Android has a WiFi hotspot idle time out by default, however this can be disabled.
  7. Same outside the showroom - I work just down the road from their main offices in West Drayton and when walking past I'm reminded a bit of De Tomaso Panteras - no two are quite alike (I have a picture of the last two RHD panteras parked up at Goodwood when I was doing a track day there and you'd think they were different build periods). Just as the Model 3 was coming out over here I tried the one in the not-a-show-room (as they do not have those any more). Putting aside as a short arse (5 foot 4) I could barely get in or out of it, when I commented about Tesla no longer giving free charges the not-a-sales-droid quipped that they used to give free for life charging to make up for the crap build quality (and yes he did say crap) - hoping he was not in ear shot of his colleague as the guy actually was a real petrol head at heart and we had a decent petrol header's chat.
  8. Mine started doing it as well - though tbh it may well have just been when the temperature was ~0 and I was just pulling backwards off the drive. I've a service due shortly so have asked Hatfield Lexus to look at it. Not happened again since the new year started.
  9. Roughly the same size battery as a Renault Zoe 50 (53 KW usable on the Zoe, 54 (is that total or usable) on the UX) yet a heavier car. Renault reckon 245 WLTP during the summer - expectations are closer to 220 in the summer and 180 in the winter, so I don't see how the UX could get close to 250. Also seen else where - no CSS charging on a post 2017/8 design ... worse still it will be AC one side and the Japan only spec on the other. Rest of the world (aside from Tesla outside of Europe) are going CSS for a good reason - global standardisation. To me this feels like a 'we need something ASAP before we miss the boat' attempt rather than a serious, ground up design. Hopefully the next one will address that.
  10. Think it depends on the age of the car, i.e. a newer one has a higher chance of working due to more up to date wifi drivers. Tried with mine on my previous OnePlus 3 phone, no go. I ought to retry now with my OnePlus 7 pro, but see no reason to as it gives me little extra.
  11. Happy to stand corrected. Thinking about it I was assuming my services are included in with my warranty, as the MOT is, it is not, I took out the three years in addvance at 10% discount (and protected from near future cost increases) option. Apologies.
  12. Having checked a few months back when my car was MOTed and serviced, the warranty can only be extended on cars under 10 years of age, and the extension, as most of us will know, is in tow year chunks. As the agent pointed out to me, If you're lucky you renew when the car is 9 years 11 months old, allowing manufacturer warranty to cover you to just under the 12 year mark. Think I will be able to get to 11.5 years.
  13. Not had a car yet where it is automatic - probably because the dates for the clock change vary around the world with one of them (or is it both) being a week out in the US from the UK/Europe.
  14. Though the dots on the right (off the road) might indicate otherwise, I think this is the tracking option, where the sat nav shows where you've been (so yes bread crumbs) - I think i had to look up in the handbook how to turn it off.
  15. I couldn't get it to work. I suspect it's down to the portal's URL (and also possibly it's hosting) moving as the URL in the documentation I received is different from the actual one. It is probably something that should have been picked up in a more recent firmware update, but may not have been as those may be world fixes not regional.
  16. Yeah we've derailed this thread somewhat. I agree 200+ miles should not be a problem - if I were to go for a 3, it would the range extended version, but only because the long journey I do is around 210 miles (Watford to Southport) but with charging problems at the other end so would need to be able to get part back.
  17. Apologies - could have sworn I read it on a legitimate news/motoring site or Pistonheads chat (from people who had ordered) but can find nothing (including wading through over 20 pages of Tesla lovers going to love, haters going to hate, and how can you get range anxiety with a proven 200+ mile range ...). If you're picking it up from their main place/garage/service centre in West Drayton/Yiewsley - wave at me on your way back if you're heading to the M4 as I work at Stockley Park, near by.
  18. Could be worse - now they've taken deposits and launched the car over here and in Europe, the estimated delivery time on a Tesla 3 is 2+ years - and having seen the published financials for the company there's no guaranty they'll still be around then (the profit they announced last year was on cost of cars sold v cost of cars manufactured, the company still made close to a billion dollar loss).
  19. The French police used to watch British cars coming in to the country for visible speed camera detectors/locators - which would would destroy on discovery.
  20. The 95 grams is average across the entire range. It's why Aston Martin licence (or did) the Toyota IQ as the Cygnet. Ferrari and Masserati are part of the FIAT group so get to include their low end cars, and Lamborghini and Porsche are part of part of VAG (plus Porsche built and sold a hybrid which is still down as the most efficient petrol powered car in the world(1)). Note, unless they have changed the rules, there was a minimum production size for the manufacturer before the requirement kicked in, so the likes of Morgan are not affected, and it was not a mandatory, but rather a limit before a punitive tax will be applied. 1) When Porsche built the 918 hypercar they actually said they did not care about the actual MPG as the car was as much about pushing and exploiting new technologies to the max, however they followed the officially sanctioned methods used to test all other hybrid cars, i.e. the battery was allowed to be fully charged before the test started, with the result that they managed 212 mpg in a 214 mph car)
  21. My Gen 4 GS450H does not and I did not see it on a loaner NX, so I assume not. I prefer it to cruise control as in SPECS zones you just set the speed and keep your foot down - it's a smoother ride as there's none of the hunting you get with cruise control as it deals with slopes.
  22. There are several things worth bearing in mind. Most Luxury/performance saloons are already limited 155 mph by gentleman's agreement amongst the manufacturers. In Japan until 2008 (?) all cars are hard limited to 112 MPH/180 KMH by law and engines were limited for 280 BHP (though the Nissan Skyline GT-R33 reputedly had 350 at the time). Both were implemented with safety in mind, though the limits were dropped in Japan after someone provided proof that there was no relationship between speed and deaths. On the new proposed regulations, as someone else has pointed out above, the limit can be manually over-ridden, so those who want to speed (I used to be a track day junky) can, where as the majority of people who are more likely to speed due to a tack of attention will not care.
  23. Some tyre fitters also offer a refresh service on TPMS valves when swapping tyres.
  24. Was going to suggest one of those - I use one on my second car, a Dacia Duster. Only thing to be aware of, is, if the USB port on your PC is tight, use another port or an extension cable as that small plastic grab on the USB stick comes off rather easily (it clips on).
  25. Will be watching is shortly, but it has been noted else where that any manufacturer with a reputation for not giving discounts gets hammered by CarWow, who's whole business model is sourcing discounts. Edit --- OK not as bad as I expected.
