  1. No it doesn’t. It was one of the first ES’s into the UK so I don’t think it was fitted then. I like the silence … but understand where the need for AVAS is coming from.
  2. If it’s anything like the one on my wife’s RAV-4 it is going to drive me crazy. I thought there was something wrong with the car when we first got it home and put it in reverse!
  3. I had my survey two weeks ago, had a call today to tell me while they could do an installation they have to charge me £80 to install an "IP Matte", the guy who came to do the survey implied they installed these routinely to protect the charger, earthing integrity, etc. so not sure why they feel they need to charge extra. They would be taking the feed directly from the meter box so no inside cabling and I get it that it would need its own circuit breaker etc. Anyone else come across this? It's interesting walking round my estate (where in the immediate area all the houses are the same age ~ 7 years) there's probably around 5 or 6 other charger installs none of which appear to have this apart from a house that has a Tesla.
  4. That's not good, is that a 450+ or 350 you are waiting for? Finding it hard to get an update on my order, since it's a fleet order
  5. Yes the brake lights come on under certain ACC-commanded braking. I believe there is a regulatory requirement for this as well above a certain level of deceleration.
  6. Hello everyone, another person here with a fleet order for an NX450h+. The order was finally placed towards the end of November - I'd been trying as soon as pre-orders started but the lease company were apparently unable to quote for it until past the middle of November. I have been told delivery by 31 May. I've not been able to get any information to enable me to track in Lexus Link so I guess I will just have to keep checking in to see if there is an update.
  7. There is a hill near my home (approx 1:10 gradient) and my ES does this every time I pass over a particular feature in the road (a drain cover I believe) going downhill while lightly applying the brakes to hold speed back. I'm not an expert in vehicle dynamics but I am given to understand front wheel drive vehicles are more prone to this.
  8. I was contacted by my usual servicing dealer yesterday advising that the fuel pump (I assume the one in the tank since they asked me to bring it in less than half full) needs to be replaced under a recall campaign. Anyone else had this? I see there is a wider recall out for other models (can't remember where I saw this) but the ES wasn't listed.
  9. Here's my experience Yes it does work! I believe you need to make sure it's enabled. Look at the menu screen where you can turn the various driver assist features on and off - towards the end of the list (on the second page on mine) there is an option DRCC (RSA) or similar When radar cruise control is engaged, if the set speed is different from the perceived speed limit (see next point) there is a green box shown around the speed limit icon along with an up or down arrow. Pressing and holding the speed up or speed down button ("long press" mentioned by e-yes) will change the set speed to that new value My experience is that the speed limit recognition isn't that accurate. I think it starts by considering values from the nav database - which may be out of date to begin with - but then this is overridden if the camera sees a different sign. However there a few places around where I live that it gives a totally inaccurate value. Examples include Consistently reporting 10 mph in the centre of a village (standard urban speed limit of 30 mph applicable) On approach to another village, where the speed limit is 60 mph (national limit for a rural road) there is a sign about 200 yards before the change to 30 mph warning of the pending change. It has a black circle around the "30" rather than a red one signifying a statutory change. This is consistently picked up as a change to 30 mph during the daytime, at night it is not picked up. In a nearby city where there is a tram, speed limits for the trams are posted in kph using a diamond sign. On a shared urban road guess what the ES reports the speed limit as? - yep 50 mph!! From what I remember the automatic speed up/down isn't a particularly rapid adjustment On the topic of the ± 5 mph adjustments yes it seems an oddity. If you press and hold the "cruise on/off" switch (top right of the buttons on the right of the steering wheel) you get "traditional" speed-based cruise control which can then be adjusted in 1 mph values! Hope this helps.
  10. Mine came with Michelins which have just been replaced (at approx 20,000 miles). I would be interested what tyre life other people have experienced - the fronts wore more quickly and needed replacing just ahead of 20k miles; at my recent service I was informed the rears were still within limits but had worn unevenly and were "stepped". I wonder what could have caused that, the dealer said there was nothing wrong with the suspension etc. In terms of how the tyres are, I've found the traction control is very "trigger happy", the slightest slip on the road (e.g. a manhole cover) is enough to trigger an intervention. FWD characteristic I guess!
  11. Hi Habu, thanks for letting me know, I won't bother further with the App in that case. Strange how there is so much inconsistency in the features available or not (let's not mention CarPlay again!!)
  12. Hi, has anyone had any success (or lack thereof) with the LexusLink app? Belatedly am trying this, but have come unstuck trying to register the navigation system. I entered the (user unfriendly) serial number string and got an error message several times, finally it said "another device is paired with your car". it's in for a service tomorrow so I'm going to ask the dealer but wondered if anyone had any advice or experience?
  13. Is this only happening when you are the sole occupant? I've noticed the passenger side display doesn't usually show a temperature when the seat is unoccupied, although sometimes it does!
  14. I've experienced this problem once or twice too. Usually in very heavy rain but then clears at the next power cycle. What's especially annoying is not only the flashing yellow lights, but also the pop-up message in the display which reappears about 10 seconds after pressing the "back" button on the steering wheel. I am coming up to my 20k service so I might mention it then - I guess if more people are reporting it then hopefully they get the message there might be an issue!
  15. Nailbitiing stuff - hopefully Lexus UK follow suit. Apologies if this information is available elsewhere, is there a way to deduce the build date easily (e.g. from the VIN)? Mine came off the boat in December 2018 so am wondering if it was built before October.
  16. Adaptive Cruise Control does the same in traffic - will quite happily sit there holding it on the brakes for you, then asks you to press accelerator or the resume button when the car in front moves off.
  17. I am fairly sure it is using the service brake, I have not heard the EPB actuating or releasing when using the brake hold. It appears there is both an auto and manual hold - the auto hold engages on an incline but only holds the brakes for 2 seconds after you take your foot off the pedal. The manual hold appears to hold "indefinitely" although I am unsure if there is some limit on how long the solenoids in the ABS/ESC actuator can stay switched on.
  18. Same opinion, looking out the window is still the best for observing road signs!
  19. I've not experienced this directly but I have found that the speed limit information displayed is quite often inaccurate. On the estate I live on (30 mph roads) it tells me either 20 or 30 and sometimes 5 (depending I think on whether the camera picks up the 5 mph limit at the local convenience store). It's also a bit hit and miss on smart (sic) motorways, where sometimes overhead speed limit changes are picked up and sometimes they aren't. I also find the more general road sign recognition isn't that great - at my work location we have a 15 mph and 20 mph speed limits (consistently picked up), a no overtaking sign (consistently picked up) and a stop sign (almost consistently not picked up). Has anyone else had similar experiences?
  20. Yes there is indeed a crease line. I would probably not have noticed it otherwise!
  21. Hi Habu Which level of trim are you interested in?
  22. Yes i thought the audio version number strange, I wonder if it relates to the hardware, I believe the system in the ES is from Panasonic, is that the same in the NX? Also do share more about the nav DB update; I assume this is a paid update though? I've always found it a bit strange that in a new car the nav DB is out of date; my previous Lexus and Toyota vehicles were similar with a DB already around 6 months old at delivery. I appreciate it takes time to process these but still ...
  23. Hello, on mine it's as follows, the instructions are indeed correct (if you look at "software information" you get pages of open source licence screed ...) Audio: 1000 Navigation: 1512 nav_db: 943 Further information shown is the model ID of the "DCU" (display control unit?) and MEU as follows DCU 17LDLMEU-DB00 MEU 17LMLMEU-FB00 I wonder if any of these version numbers have a bearing on the potential availability (or otherwise) of the elusive CarPlay? Mine was probably built around October 2018; it came off the boat in December 2018.
  24. Just had a look at mine and pretty sure (from the on/off behaviour) they are LEDs - although they do look a bit like a bulb. Bizarrely (on my base model) the front indicators are incandescent - weird huh?
