  1. With the lever behind the panel in the boot, but it took some doing even then. Meanwhile the part is in (allegedly) and booked in again for early January to have it fixed.
  2. No I was having the issue even before the cold snap, I couldn't open my fuel filler on that very warm weekend we had in November.
  3. I have used Coventry for servicing over the past 6 years as they are nearer my office but have been underwhelmed by them the last 2 times I have used them. I am now trying Derby for the fuel flap repair as that's nearer home.
  4. Well I thought there was a law about "undertaking", that's certainly the way I was brought up, but I checked the Highway Code and it is ambivalent Rule 268 Do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake. In congested conditions, where adjacent lanes of traffic are moving at similar speeds, traffic in left-hand lanes may sometimes be moving faster than traffic to the right. In these conditions you may keep up with the traffic in your lane even if this means passing traffic in the lane to your right. Do not weave in and out of lanes to overtake. I'm an engineer not a lawyer but I take it to mean in heavy congestion (like controlled motorways) you should keep up with the flow of traffic in lane, but where I have found "overtake prevention" useful is where traffic is heavy but not congested and a lane to the right starts to move slower. I don't particularly want to be barrelling up the inside of traffic and that's where I think the feature is meant to help.
  5. A couple of observations "Overtake prevention" isn't particularly well documented in the manual and it is a bit of a misnomer, what it does it stop you going up the inside of slower moving traffic on a highway (i.e. you are in lane 1 and traffic in lane 2 is slowing down, it stops you accelerating on the inside). This to my mind fixes something I've noticed for a while as a limitation of ACC so I am all for this one. I have noticed on ACC it can be a bit more aggressive at slowing you down if a vehicle ahead is turning off (say in lane 1) but you want to carry on (and are in lane 2). More so than on the previous generation of ACC that I had on the ES. But as you are supposed to be fully attentive when using ACC then I simply give a little nudge on the accelerator ... On the brake lights, not sure of specific implemented behaviour but there is a regulatory requirement that they come on if system-initiated braking is more than a certain amount.
  6. How long did you leave the car after charging it before using it? Apparently it's better to charge just before use particularly in colder ambient temperatures.
  7. Having experienced this problem myself a couple of weeks ago I had mine at a dealer today and they said the mechanism needs replacing; the part is on order and all they can suggest is to use the internal release (which I also struggled with ...) in the meantime. Part expected by 23 December, I wonder if it's coming on a sleigh?!
  8. According to the manual, EV driving may be canceled automatically in the following circumstances: When vehicle speed is more than approximately 135 km/h (84 mph). When in AUTO EV/HV mode: When power is temporarily needed, such as when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed or when accelerating suddenly. When the temperature of the hybrid system is high, such as after the vehicle has been parked in an extremely hot environment, or is driven at high speeds or up a slope, etc. When the temperature of the hybrid system is low. When the heater is switched on when the outside temperature is below about -10° (14°F). When the windshield defogger switch is pressed. When the system determines that the gasoline engine needs to be started. I reckon the last "catch all" case is what I experienced today ...
  9. I suspected it is to do with the heating, I assume there is only "so much" the heat pump can do before ICE heat is needed. I've also found if you select front defog then it fires up the engine too. I will check the manual later ...
  10. How are people finding EV range now the temperatures are dropping, I've slowly dropped back to ~ 55 miles indicated range after a charge. Also I had an odd experience this morning, I set out for a 4 mile journey (mixture of roads and speeds) with 9 miles range showing on departure but the engine kicked in and only 40% of the journey was in EV. The car was in "EV mode" the whole time and ambient temperature around 6˚. Anyone else experienced this?
  11. Another interesting snippet from that What Car? review, he mentions "I’d have to put my foot hard down on the brake pedal before it would let me engage drive" I have experienced this on occasions, almost exclusively if I select "P" during a drive and then try to reengage drive again ... only once or twice from start-up.
  12. I had the same issue yesterday, first time to fill in over a month and couldn't get it open. I was glad of the advice on here which allowed me to find the manual release but even that took a few goes before it opened. I will have to try cleaning the mechanism.
  13. I had mine in for its 10k service (already!) recently and apparently a recall was done but they didn't say what. Is it just me that is finding the recall checker on the Lexus website is broken (and has been for some while)?
  14. Exactly my experience too going from an ES to the NX, I kept jabbing the climate button instead of the power button. But now I am used to the NX I keep going for the little button to press to open the door when in other cars ...
  15. Mine is now indicating ~ 60 miles EV range after a charge (the range has been slowly creeping up with each charge) but a journey today achieved more like 46 miles range albeit with about 10 miles on a motorway at 70 mph and 3 people in the car. Still impressive though!
  16. I'm sorry to hear that too, I've had 6000 miles in mine now and while there are a few minor niggles I would not hesitate to recommend it. Is your dealer Coventry? I've used them for servicing my last 2 Lexi (is that the correct plural?) before the NX and have always found them excellent but I contacted them about a couple of minor issues and they had the car for a day, and I was rather underwhelmed by their response (or lack of) this time.
  17. I believe it's on the Takumi spec (or F-Sport with Takumi pack) - if the brochure is to be believed ...
  18. Hi Adrian you might want to check the settings on the LKA (it will take a bit of digging in the menus on the infotainment) to see what the warning is set to, mine definitely intervenes on occasions although subjectively it feels like it is behaving differently than LKA in the ES I had previously. And at least you have speed camera warnings, I discovered they are not included in the 9 inch version of the infotainment which I find is a bit of a rubbish decision as they were on both my previous vehicles which were base spec. I queried this with customer services whose answer was to use Apple Maps or Wase!
  19. I've had mine about 6 weeks / 3000 miles now and the indicated EV range is slowly creeping up with 53 miles on the last charge. I'm not sure if that's it learning my driving style or the battery characteristics, or the warm weather or some combination! Impressive regardless. The most I've got in on a charge when the "EV" part is "empty" is around 15.5 kWh. If the Alfen charger is to be believed!
  20. The EU legislation does allow for it to be "paused" but Reg 138 (which is more widely applicable) does not. I will have to check with a colleague but I think the UN Reg may have superseded the EU one.
  21. I know what you mean, we have a RAV4 as well and I thought there was something wrong with it when we got it home, it sounded like a grating noise especially in reverse (which is louder than when driving forwards). I can hear it coming home when it is some distance away and it can be heard quite distinctively when driving the car too. Subjectively the NX is nowhere near as loud although perhaps that's because the sound deadening is better. For those of a more technical persuasion the requirements for quieter vehicles to be equipped with the so-called "Acoustic vehicle alerting system" (AVAS) is found in UN Regulation 138. This sets sound levels and also requires that the device cannot be turned off by the driver! As manufacturers are required to fit these devices by law there is not much Lexus or anyone can do about that, although I agree the sound could be more pleasant! So as per Don's experience too maybe it has been "improved" in the NX.
  22. Anyone else having issues with the app today? I either can’t log in, or it gets as far as 65% progress “loading your vehicle details” then says “We had an 003 error while loading your data. Please wait 10 mins and try again”
  23. I was pleased to find mine came with a printed handbook - having spent some time pouring over the PDF version while waiting for the car. I just assumed they didn't automatically come with hardcopies any more as I had to ask for one for my ES and was told at the time they didn't provide them unless asked ...
