  1. I don’t believe it happened quite like that. If you want to read the full detail of how the EU dealt with Greece and protected the German banks I recommend: Adults in the Room by Yanis Varoufakis.
  2. This replaced our IS F Sport, pretty good at corners. Similar specification to our NX: Panoramic Roof Er... Note my old LS430 rear seats?
  3. I went to see Nigel at Phoenix International Raceway when he left F1 to race in Indy Cars. The local Lexus dealer featured a Soarer as “one” of the pace cars with pretty close to an open exhaust. The sound was amazing. I remember Nigel came third.
  4. Another plus for the Sheffield service team. During a service there they ordered the wrong steering wheel motor for my LS430. When they realised the mistake they found the right one in Lexus Cambridge and got them to taxi it to Sheffield to fix my car within the day. Brilliant.
  5. Chevy Suburban 3500HD Curb Weight: 6,585 pounds That’s almost 3,000 Kg, gentle driving gets 14mpg US gallons. Size matters.
  6. I thought Lexus described the NX as Large SUV and the RX as Luxury SUV. Not sure either qualifies as a Chelsea Tractor. Chevy Suburban, that’s a proper sized SUV.
  7. Same as mine, as you say, back to the handbook.
  8. Now puzzled, is that with the new sat Nav design with green background like mine. Have I somehow turned off that feature?
  9. Almost but, bad news I have no doors, good news quick release steering wheel.
  10. 70 when driving our NX300h and 25 when driving my Westfield. (Back to 70 again when getting out of my Westfield)
  11. When did Lexus Sat Nav drop the motorway screen showing exits and services? All my others had it, including the 2018 IS300h. Now our 2108 NX300h doesn’t. Am I missing a setting?
  12. If the German based Citizens Will Alliance wins their court case against the EU bailout, as they are predicted to do, who knows what will happen.
  13. It had a heater, proper bird puller. Also had a Morris 1000 van for a while. Sadly my first company car, a Cortina Auto is in the Gaydon museum, but not my actual car. Mine was in stunning beige, most popular colour.
  14. Too busy repairing things to have time to fit extras. Seat belts and radio my only luxury items. Standard Triumph became British Leyland in 1968, enough said.
  15. Standard (Triumph) 10 (deluxe) mine was plain grey. I started my engineering apprenticeship on below £5 a week so all I could afford. Could never get the HUD to work. Didn’t test the airbags but did fit seat belts which were a newish invention.
  16. Sadly my first car was one of these. Bought for £25, sold 3 years later for £15.
  17. Dead right. As the wife and I share the nx without memory seats it would take all week to get the settings right. I’m the only one who drives my car so don’t need them. (... memory seats not an option on my Westfield)
  18. I had a Citroen XM for 3 years, perfect ride on Michelin’s but the electrics and cooling circuit were dire. The XM was better than the CX which tended to lope along a bit like a kangaroo. I did lose all the fluid in a BX, which drops the suspension pretty quickly and other useful things like power steering and brakes. Agree with @BigBoomer my 2003 LS430 was lovely and smooth.
  19. Had my nx upgraded to Android Auto and working fine. What does anyone think about the new AA split screen, allowing music and maps, etc? Can’t appear to turn off split screen to get just maps, anyone succeeded?
  20. Oldish post so I hope you’re enjoying your car. My simple rule, go for the highest spec. After 3 months the luxury will no longer be a new car but the premier will still have ML sound, the great HUD and the 360 cameras. Oh for the early Lexus days, when I bought my LS400 in 93 there was only the one model so no choice, and it came with Lexus Club.
  21. Just the wife’s IS300h and my Westfield. Really enjoyed building the Westfield and driving is as close to a go cart as you can get. Favourite was probably the LS400. At that time it came with Club Lexus who organised grand nights out. I remember going to the RAC Club to see Tarbuck and Jasper Carrot at Club events, great times. Enjoyed the LS430, I scrapped it in the end and sold off all the parts, keeping the engine and box for a Cobra project. I enjoyed the strip down, really interesting stuff. Cobra didn’t happen, went Corvette instead. Still a big fan but wish Lexus would go Android Auto or Apple Play and make the voice activation work like Google Home or Alexi.
  22. Hello from a returning member. Wife has a 2018 IS300h F Sport. We have also had a 2001 IS200, a 2014 GS300h, a 1993 LS400 and a 2003 LS430. I bought the LS430 with 7,000 on the clock and did 240,000 over 9 years, great car. Had a few crazy cars from Camaro Z28 to Corvette C6 and currently have a Westfield FW.
  23. My wife has a 2018 F Sport and the ride is harder than the other models, but not as hard as my Westfield FW. The F Sport gauges are much better but the red leather seats clinched the deal. Clearly aimed at our late 60’s age group.
