  1. Well done on your new purchase Pete and welcome to the LOC! You'll love the CT and soon will get obsessed by lovingly looking after it! It's a great all rounder and the Lexus dealership network is a winner too!👍🏾
  2. That looks great! Good results Norman!👍🏽🙂
  3. I think Car Pro will now be in my shopping basket 😃!
  4. Does the Car Pro Reload give much of a "beading" effect when water is on the surface? I have been using GTechniq C2V3 spray sealant every 3mths or so as a topper after I had my CT ceramic coated back in 2020. I'm soon going to finish the bottle and thought of maybe trying something else.
  5. I just had a renewal quote from my current insurance provider LV. £504 last year now its gone to £744! No changes whatsoever no claims! Me thinks I'll be shopping around! 🤯
  6. Thanks for the update Norman. That red colour is stunning! 🙂
  7. Very nice work so far Norman! Where did you get your alloys refurbished and detailing done please? I'm in North Birmingham. Anyplace nearby?
  8. I'd stick with the CT! I was a VAG fan for many years. Often going in for minor issues but the local Audi dealer at the time kept me happy service wise. Final VW garage though killed it! My current job involves transportation of new cars and whatever brand it is, I see a lot of electric cars brand new still have battery and coolant pump issues. Lexus/Toyota though very very rarely have any faults. I'd stick with the reliable hybrid technology and Lexus if it was my choice. Our CT is now 7 years old of which the last 4 have been under our ownership. I and the wife love it. Plus Lexus Birmingham, cannot fault them one bit!
  9. I'd agree with Poundy 100% also on getting a Catloc professionally fitted with a guarantee and having the registration service. Lexus Birmingham did mine also. As I've mentioned before I'd also get your CT DNA tagged with SelectaDNA. https://www.selectadna.co.uk/dna-asset-marking/selectadna-vehicle-kit Two things to give you that little bit more piece of mind. And your car would have warning stickers to hopefully put off the scumbags.
  10. Rest In Peace John. Your wealth of knowledge and experience and the kindness and understanding you showed to others in your contributions via this owners club will never be forgotten. I never had the privilege to meet you but as others have said similar here, I felt like I knew you through your wisdom. My thoughts are with your family. May The Lord give them strength. You were a true legend. All of us here at the LOC will miss you Sir x
  11. Similar experience as Poundy with Lexus Birmingham. Can't fault them! Renewed late last year 4yr Service/MOT plan when expired. Now have covered for a further 6yrs. Peace of mind totally. Only thing needed ever extra was a new tyre (which I suspected might be losing pressure anyway) and one set of new front wipers (these were getting a bit smeary also). The video I was sent by the Lexus mechanic during visual inspection was a great idea! Great also to see the bottom of the car too!
  12. Nice one Herbie! Learnt a few things there for future reference especially about the aircon regas. I'm no DIY mechanic! Other than changing bulbs that's it! The rest is at my local dealership Lexus Birmingham. I'd be too apprehensive to do anything else! Your explanation is why I think joining LOC is a must for all Lexus owners to help increase their knowledge of ownership 👍🏽
  13. Hi Vladimir As yet I haven't. But the interior I saw at my local dealership and thought it was nice. Next time I need a courtesy car during the annual service MOT I'll try the UX. Last year I had an ES for a few hours and that was nice!!
  14. The environmental damage caused by the mining of the precious minerals used to produce the EV battery in the first place. Add then the total end of life cost of owning a pure EV vehicle. Never mind the real-world experiences of running a EV in Britain with the lack of viable charging facilities etc. All of this, versus the running of an ICE "normal" vehicle. The fact that the total environmental impact of running a ICE car until the end of it's life is far less. I'd stick to ICE/Hybrid for now. Heavy industry I'm sure and those large cruise ships roaming the oceans with folk wanting to spend their kids inheritance have more of an environmental impact than my CT ever could! Also running a car with good maintenance and keeping that car long term for a few years makes more sense. ( Sorry Lexus but again I don't want to swap my CT for a new UX and start paying road tax, how many times!) P.S. Sorry if I've offended any cruise goers 🙊
  15. Agree with you on that Nick! Plus I'd add decent luxury too with a feeling of safety and reassurance.
  16. I find the transmission smooth as anything and the ride is comfortable enough. Handling is more than sufficient for my needs. The main appeal of the CT is reliability!!
  17. Also check out the JayEmm review of the LC on YouTube. He's also a fan of the brand having done some reviews of previous generation LS models. Matt from High Peak Autos really does brill reviews. Both YouTube channels are well worth dipping into!
  18. Welcome to the LOC! I'd 100% agree with Herbie. Drive it and enjoy it thoroughly! It would seem a shame just to let it out only now and again. I'd only dream of having a car history like yours. Keep it garaged of course when at home. Get it secured as much as you can. Keep it detailed well. Cherish it. Enjoy those moments on country lanes or motorways when you can. When you get that nod from a passer by that "gets it" it'll be worthwhile!!👍🏽
  19. Well I purchased the Osram Nightbreaker Laser 150% H11 for £26.99 a pair, from Powerbulbs website. Delivered in 3 days. Fitted them in around 20mins ish! Seem so far a whiter light than the bulbs that came with the car. The reach of the beam seems visibly longer too. Need to take out on a country lane to really test. I enquired at my local Lexus Birmingham and they quoted £18.49 each for replacement H11 bulbs. They didn't mention fitting. My guess from past experience maybe they may fit for free! Lets see how long these new bulbs last..
  20. Me and the missus have had the CT 2 years 7 months so far. Never looked back! I'm not an SUV fan at all. Aim is to keep it min 7-10 years. If another hatchback is offered by Lexus or something similar in size to the IS saloon, then I may be tempted!!!
  21. I'd say go to Lexus for both MOT and Services based on own experience since having the CT from July 2019. Any issues then you've one place to refer to for any recourse. I have currently a 4 year service/MOT plan for less than £30 a month with Lexus Birmingham. I plan to renew this for another 4 or maybe 6 years as want to keep the car at least for ten years. Never had any issues. I have faith in the reliability of the brand and the dealership.
  22. Also Martin, just as an extra thought going forwards. When washing your beloved CT, if your not doing so already, maybe invest in some wash products that have built-in rust inhibitors in them. I use Bilt Hamber Auto Foam or Touchless for Prewash. For contact wash I use Bilt Hamber Auto Wash Shampoo. Other brands are available too! Just from an ongoing / aftercare POV! Good Luck! 🤞🏽👍🏽
  23. Hi Martin The below is from my warranty and service book. Section 3 on page 3. At the beginning of the book, way before you would have your service stamps done: "Surface rust and paintwork: The warranty offers 3 years of cover for surface rust and paint defects appearing on any of the painted body panels due to a fault in material or workmanship. There is no mileage restriction on this. Corrosion perforation: 12 years of coverage is provided against bodywork perforation (i.e. any holes through the bodywork from inside to outside) due to corrosion that is attributable to faults in material or workmanship. Again there is no mileage restriction. " Further down it mentions that hinges, bumpers and mouldings are not included. I'd speak to your local Lexus Dealership / contact Lexus Customer Services to see if they can or cannot assist in any way 🤞
  24. Cheers thank you Elmexicano. £56 including fitting for a pair of Lexus H11 bulbs. Do you know what the manufacturer of the bulb is please? I'm currently thinking about having slightly brighter dipped beam headlights, since reading this thread. I've been looking at the Powerbulbs website and seen these. https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/osram-night-breaker-laser-next-generation-h11-twin I know that they won't last as long as my OEM bulbs. However, the price seems tempting and fitting new bulbs into the CT seems straightforward 🤞🏽
