  1. The bigger the engine the less part of fuel consumption will be to the air-condition. Yes nothing works without energy and the energy for getting cold dry air comes from the engine that will need more fuel. But as just mentioned: dry air. Help keep your car dry in winter. Never turn off air-condition in our car.
  2. A fully electric car has a battery that will last a while and lose capacity over time. When battery is not holding capacity enough to your need you will want a new battery and the rest of the car will probably be good enough to need 2 batteries before all worn out. Convert a combustion car to LPG is a piece of cake and doing the same but to hydrogen is possible. Hydrogen is made from water and electricity and we do not need to get either from China or Russia. Stupid people have shown us the way to go all electric. Shall we continue to elect these fools? They got us to import gas and oil from Russia and now they want us to import batteries from China.
  3. That link made me look at another video from Scotty. 80% of all batteries for cars, buses and trucks as well come from China and we know what it cost to rely on gas from Russia.
  4. There are so many cameras that can be installed more or less "invisible" that it is impossible to recommend any. What fit you best is what you need. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=Nextbase+522GW&ref=nb_sb_noss
  5. No more BBC news on my phone. They want to know all your personal data in order to get their news and hand them over to Facebook and other spam companies.
  6. Does not need a policeman to give a fine. Many places cameras are installed, taking your picture when speeding (even if just a little) and then you have to pay for the picture.

  8. Many years ago I was fined for driving 45km/h in a 40km/h zone. More than 10% above speed limit. Today they have more precise speed measuring instruments so I suppose they will be able to collect more fines than what many motorists like.
  9. I would any day prefer the latest update of the CT ( 2018 - ) to first edition of the UX. All little niggles and whatever have now been ironed out of the CT, whereas the UX is first edition and so far, I have never heard of any new model, from any factory, without some kind of problems, small or great, that would come withing the first years.
  10. The part you installed would be good to have a link to. Maybe another is unlucky to need that info.
  11. Our car is almost 6 years and has run 80K km. Service once a year. Never had oil lamp or any other warning lamps lighting up.
  12. Even better: Private communication is available here in the forum. Fuel panic is about what?
  13. What was the answer? When pressing the button in the one we have a light show interior sensor is off, press again and it is on.
  14. The one we have has 80K km and is 5½ years old. More or less the same. Expect it to last till we can get a combustion engine running on hydrogen and there will be refill places enough to use the possibly cleanest fuel for combustion engines. Answer to your question: Maintain it and it will last at least the 5 years you ask. Batteries are supposedly lasting 15 years or more so you should be covered. We service with Lexus, even though they are stupidly expensive, but on top of service we only have spend money on fuel, wind-shield-washer-fluid, wipers and tyres. And if built like the Prius it will last. So many former taxis (Prius) are driving around even though several of these do not look maintained and never saw one on the side of the road looking like it was having trouble.
  15. Just looked in the manual (did you read that John) 2010 - 2012, do not have a manual for 2013 but suppose it is the same, and found that in cars with driver sitting in the wrong side of the car like in the UK reverse light is in left side and for us that drive the car from the left side the reverse light is in the right side. Always passenger side. I think it is different in the one we have but too lazy to go down in the garage to look. If I remember to look tomorrow I will tell (if I remember that). Getting old - probably.
  16. I am not sure the problem is a problem. When applying little pressure on the brake pedal so the charging of the hybrid battery process starts is similar to letting go of the accelerator pedal on most combustion engine cars and not like braking. On the CT we have, as long as the car is not really braking, the brake light is not on, but when pressing the pedal a little more (not much) and the car is slowing down, the brake light come on, like I think it should. Driving a hybrid is different to driving a combustion engine car and very much so if the combustion engine car has a big cubic engine, especially with manual gearbox.
  17. The car is really a beauty. Seats look brand new. You have been lucky to find such a well kept car. Was the wood panels not in good condition? Not that carbon look is bad, but wood is also good (better for me). Have had 2 MB's with Würzelholz interior; 40 years is a long time and cannot find any pictures of them, but still remember how smooth and shiny the wood with the most fantastic patterns in it was.
  18. I use silicone oil which last a long time even here where it is hot all year. Wonder what the original Lexus dust caps are made of.
  19. What Herbie said is correct. Only he is very gentle with criticism of Lexus software, which is a disaster. Garmin is the best, TomTom is not bad, but a smartphone with free updates.
  20. Different metals have different behaviour. Aluminium will hardly corrode to the the original from Lexus. Plastic will always do the job and they cost close to nothing. If you want them to look wanted you can always buy carbon. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=lexus+ct&_sacat=6028&LH_TitleDesc=0&_pgn=2 if you want bling. Have 2 original Lexus, still not stolen and they are from some strange material, too light to be steel and too stiff to be plastic. Looks like metal but strange material.
  21. You have new loudspeakers installed. Some loudspeaker systems have stiff membranes and will change their ability to play loud after having been played a while, some after a long while. Never had other Lexus cars than the CT, but the quality of the sound is really far above what I have expected and if compared with after-market systems the price of the audio systems that are comparable to the ML in the CT will cost more than 5K£. Some amplifiers will need at least 1F to stabilize the power supply in order to play bass loud.
