  1. Good luck. Seems that the reputation Lexus used to have is crumbling. You are right. AC system should be able to function without problems a lot more than 7 years.
  2. The car we have is with black faux leather seats and we clean them with wipes we buy from Lidl. So far they look like new, but maybe red seats are more demanding.
  3. Welcome to the forum. German cars had a reputation and I also used to like the reliability of MB and VW (incl. Audi). You have been more lucky with Audi than I was with MB. Your meaning about EV is same as mine. Only good for people not interested in long range and really only good for people having solar cells on top of their house so they have power reasonably cheap and easy. Lexus make great hardware and stupidly poor software; only know about the one we have and maybe they have improved since 2017 model, but I doubt it. About the economy driving cars all factories paint far too beautiful pictures. Never had a car that did as well as promised with regard to fuel economy. The little Lexus CT we have is just the same. Best and closest fuel economy to what was promised from factory we have had were from a Smart Roadster Coupé and a VW Golf 2.0tdi DSG. I am sure you will be happy with the Lexus and wish you all the best. You will probably not need advice with regard to repair your car the next very many years, but should it happen there will be knowledgeable people here ready to help.
  4. It is still called a cigarette lighter though ash trays are long gone. Could change the name to 12V chargers. The USB's in our car are not having power enough to charge the phones. Very old phones maybe taking 24 hours to fill up.
  5. BP is 0.005 cent cheaper than Shell. Prices climbing close to 1.8€ in this so called IVA/VAT-free zone. Fewer cars in the streets, but maybe they are just all out on vacation. We are lucky though, government seems to be regulation electricity price as last month we only paid double of what we paid in January. 2 months ago it was close to triple that amount.
  6. Paid close to 600€ for 70K km service for a CT. Think that is rather expensive. Next up is 80K. In a couple of months.
  7. Here V-Power is listed as 98. Do not believe there is any noticeable difference in the way the cars drive with 95 - 98
  8. Some of the colours will show little bumps more than normal paint does, so if all you really want to avoid is getting rid of the paint damage from bird poo coating may be a good idea.
  9. For a new car I think it is. Bird poo is global and if not removed quickly damaging.
  10. Our car turn 5 years October and so far with Lexus. But they are stupidly expensive, slow and having no courtesy car so maybe next service (September) will be the last there. Mind still needs to be made up.
  11. Unbiased does not exist. You get news from Aljazeera, BBC, CNN, Deutsche Welle (dw.com - they have English too) and FOX (Trump biased) and then use your brain as a filter. They all promote in their point of view. All have videos and some have live news. That way you get info from biased news from different sides. The more languages you understand the more varied news you can hear. Want news from outside: https://www.dw.com/en/james-webb-space-telescope-full-color-images-will-wow/a-62236601
  12. Thank you Steve, That is what I get searching for the rubber on https://parts.lexus.com/productSearch.aspx?ukey_make=5773&modelYear=2016&ukey_model=0&ukey_trimLevel=0&ukey_driveline=0&ukey_Category=65510&numResults=50&sortOrder=Relevance&ukey_tag=0&isOnSale=0&isAccessory=0&isPerformance=0&showAllModels=0&searchTerm=85214R. Is this just the rubber or the whole wiper with metal?
  13. Alpine is a go-cart, where a V8 is more or less a sofa. Not that our company car MB 300SEL 6.3 was slow, or did not handle OK, but it was a sofa and not at all a go-cart - not really funny - quiet - no noise. Long time ago. Now a CT is all we need.
  14. Hi Steve, do you also have the number for the rubber to the CT200h 20cm I think?
  15. Here it is the same 5 but in km/h. Anyway, cruise control here with all the traffic is useless as the adaptive braking and the way people are driving make the car constantly brake - accelerate - brake so it is a more fluent and comfortable ride just to leave it off.
  16. Who say that the man wanting to go to Mars want to do that: Some of the cars have a safety risk with the rear-view camera, others with the front flap. Carmaker Tesla is now recalling up to half a million cars due to technical issues. This is stated by the US Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The cars from the leading manufacturer of electric cars have either a safety problem with the rear-view camera or with the front luggage compartment, the American television station CNBC reports. According to NHTSA, there are 356,000 cars of Tesla's Model 3, where there is a risk that the rear-view camera will put out. - There is a risk that the rear camera wires may be damaged when opening and closing the rear luggage compartment, and this may cause the camera to shut down, the explanation from NHTSA reads. Another 119,000 cars of the Tesla Model S are called a workshop ride because the front flap over the front trunk can in some cases open up while driving and completely block the driver's view. Tesla has not even commented publicly on the two potential security flaws, writes CNBC. But Tesla has informed NHTSA that the company does not know of any examples that the two faults have been the cause of accidents with personal injury or serious damage to the cars. Video games while driving NHTSA has already been after Tesla because a one-year-old update in nearly 600,000 cars has made it possible to play computer games on the car's TV screen while driving. The feature is intended as a service for the front passenger, but according to NHTSA, there is an obvious risk that it will also distract the driver. Tesla has taken that criticism to heart and has just made an update, which means that you can only play on the car's TV screen when the car is stationary, writes the tech magazine ArsTechnica.
  17. One thing I forgot to mention: AC is starting so quick in a hybrid as it is not the engine that is controlling the AC as in most cars. All electric and cool air come out in seconds. Even here where temperatures are generally much higher than in UK.
  18. Read 2 days ago that Tesla were recalling almost all of one of their models. Do not remember which one.
  19. Handling is not just about driving fast. Handling is how it can handle at any speed. Had a Toyota MR2 Spyder. Put on forged magnesium wheels same size and it was a different car to drive. Much more go-cart than before. Have been driving Lancia EVO 2.
  20. I live where we go up and down just to drive in the city. Going up will keep the hybrid battery on 2 o3 3 bars depending on how hard you accelerate. Going down it comes to show all bars as full just 3 - 5 km going more or less down. Hybrid battery when I park in the garage is mostly almost full and when parking it Friday evening it will still be that Monday morning. Driving around in malls parking places with permitted speed 10 - 15km/h will see EV lamp on most of the time. Even when only 2 bars are lit, but as soon as you press a bit hard engine will start. Driving on plain roads 80 - 100km/h will normally see hybrid battery more or less in the middle. On our little CT. Bigger cars have bigger batteries but also more weight to transport so I guess it could be more or less the same with all Lexus/Toyota hybrid cars. EV lamp I have never seen light in when driving faster than 80km/h. EV lamp is always lit when driving from standstill except when going uphill. Have been told by Lexus here that battery (and rest of the car) is in perfect condition.
  21. Beautiful car. Do not know what you are looking for so maybe what I write now should never have been done. Every gram you add to unsuspended weight reduces the handling of the car. If your goal is to get a perfect handling car you could look at getting custom made and lighter wheels that will improve handling. It comes with a price of course. https://dymag.com/auto/ They can do it.
  22. True that it could charge a battery, but as mentioned before there are not materials enough to make batteries for all the cars in the world and charging time for an EV is quite long whereas filling time with hydrogen is as fast as filling a car with gasoline. You can superfast charge a battery and it will quickly lose capacity. Every time you change energy from one kind to another some of it will be wasted. Look at the good side: Water from where hydrogen is taken will come back when the hydrogen has been burned and combustion engines are already there just waiting to be made ready for a different kind of fuel. Another good thing with hydrogen compared with gasoline this time is that if spilled it will disappear in the air not poisonous where gasoline will be dangerously laying where it is spilled. And the sound of a combustion engine takes a very good audio to produce. Some open their windows in tunnels to listen to the wonderful music their engines make. We have had funny cars before we retired, now a quiet CT with Levison is all we need to be transported around.
  23. Typing is good exercise for your fingers.
  24. Well that is more or less not correct. To produce hydrogen you need electricity and water, and little hydrogen producing plants are made that can produce hydrogen where the fuelling plants are.
