  1. He is right though, initial slow down by ACC can feel like it's braking but no brake lights. I confirmed this by having the line open to my partner who was driving behind me. It's using regen only at that point to slow down.
  2. I would prefer more glass, no opening. I like the extra light in winter months. Unfortunately, neither your preference nor mine are available on the ES300h in the UK.
  3. Less likely that it is the culprit at that age. However, with multiple electrical gremlins that seem unrelated start wide then narrow down. It's less likely that two components failed simultaneously rather then a central power issue. So battery voltage, is it charging, connectors tight, then move to fusebox(es)...till you get down to each component. Had a car once where it would sometimes refuse to central lock and at times reset MPG on its own. Turned out to be misconnection in underhood fuse box. Since your roof and radio work normally, albeit intermittently, and assuming battery connections and charging are ok. I'd be checking that all the fuses are sitting right next
  4. I tilted at that bar/PSI windmill for a while. Bugs me too.
  5. Congrats! Welcome to the ES club.
  6. You can get a season wallet, brings per crossing down to around the 50 mark. Caveat is minimum buy is 10 crossings, although you can share your wallet with one other person. Expiry one year. Suspended at the mo, but they claim some new plan will take its place.
  7. Same negative experience with AF. Licensed for 22 years (actually have 4, UK, US, Germany and Jordan), grew up in the UK so I know the system. Car garaged nightly. 13 years NCB, unfortunately the last few years were from a third world country, no wait they were from Germany. It's sometimes tricky to not mix up Gambia Ghana or Guatemala with Germany! AF got their behinds handed to them by Aviva, to the tune of about 900 pounds!!!
  8. Just curious. Our paint is of the self healing variety, with warnings on not to polish. It has a claimed life of 5-8 years. How does polishing and putting on a ceramic coat figure into that?
  9. Don't have wood in my premium edition, at least I don't think the black grain inlays are real wood anyway. In any case no woody smells just good 'ol new car smell, which i still get a whiff of 3k miles and 4 months later. You know the VOCs that give you cancer.
  10. Have used PlastX in the past, long lasting results, as in several years later car sold and they were still gleaming. Done by hand. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meguiars-G12310EU-Plast-RX-Plastic-Headlight/dp/B07X9N3PPK?th=1
  11. Doesn't look right to me. Here's a close up... I'm OCD too and that would get on my nerves. What bugs me on mine are the parking sensors not sitting perfectly center. Anyone else have that? I'm talking fraction of a mm gap making a crescent on one side of the circle, on all of them grrr!
  12. you can also deactivate the keyless entry on the key by holding down two buttons on the fob, can't remember which off the top of my head
  13. I wouldn't have guessed that re sound quality. Older anc systems were notorious for this problem with limited processing power. But newer systems supposedly read your audio output and subtract any wavelengths from anc that would degrade the audio signal. Must try this out while stationary.
  14. Wow! People actually buy that? I really must dig into my box of random crap and see what I can sell. @e-yes yup it's a thing, but like the thread you have linked there it's a 1-3dB difference. Most of the heavy lifting is done by the structural sound proofing. Was in an electric (no range extender engine) BMW i3 the other day, ignoring the terrible ride quality, it was loud compared to the ES in town. Since we're talking quiet cabins here. It can be quiet enough in the ES that I can hear faint wind noise coming from the sunroof area at motorway speeds. Just closing the blind is enough to make it go away. Anyone else here noticed that? Yes I checked the seals while open and closed, it opens and closes normally, and when closed I don't feel any air movement on the inside at speed. I checked the outside parked, seems to be a snug fit, nothing popping over or in fact under the roof/bodywork. Now I'm obviously being nitpicky here, just curious if anyone else noticed it.
  15. Here's the Sep 2020 brochure. P19... "HYBRID SILENCE Powered by our latest Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid technology, the ES is incredibly quiet to drive. Whether in near-silent Electric Vehicle mode, or cruising at motorway speeds, you can enjoy talking to passengers or listening to your favourite music with very little background noise. Further refining the technology developed for the latest LS flagship saloon, advanced aerodynamics combined with Hybrid Acoustics™ and Active Noise Control have resulted in an outstanding level of cabin quietness." does not have an asterisk with *Available on selected grades and packs like ML or HUD unfortunately didn't download the list at the time, if you have it that would be geat es_brochure_102020_tcm-3157-2093698.pdf
  16. That's how I knew it has it, both sides and back. If it was just the microphone for voice commands, phone it should be only drivers side, right?
  17. Not sure when they standardized it across the range, but can confirm my 2021 has ANC. Not a new feature. Honda accord got it about 15 years ago in the US. Nice to have but the well dampened floor, wheel wells, double glazing, and even noise absorbing floor mats are I think more important. @Alan305 I wouldn't turn on ANC on a C6 either 😀
  18. Apparently, brake bias was different, with cc using rear bias for a smoother (less nose dip) braking.
  19. If I'm not mistaken, this used to be a feature in a lot of manufacturers, but then there were widespread complaints about brake disc consumption, especially the rears, so got dropped.
  20. Have them on mine. Had them on my old Civic, and they lasted for 83k Km(when the car is being sold). So far so good on the Lexus.
  21. 2021 ES manual specifically states that it will not control you speed going downhill and it will exceed the set speed. Mine and what you're describing for yours are behaving according to the manual. CC "On steep downhills Vehicle speed may exceed the set speed when driving down a steep hill." ACC/DRCC "On steep downhills, or where there are sudden changes between sharp up and down gradients Vehicle speed may exceed the set speed when driving down a steep hill"
  22. oh missed that, it's been about a couple of decades since I heard it last. Should be in my collection!
  23. Could you write us a mini guide on what to download, from where, which cables...? That would be great is this right? https://www.toyota-tech.eu/DiagnosticTools/Software/GTS
