  1. I had run flats on a BMW 15 years ago and I vowed never again, so when I heard that the 2022 NX is fitted with them I did a lot of research before plucking up the courage to order the car. It was clear from my research that technology had improved over the years so after 2-3 months of dithering I took the plunge. Now, after nearly 5 months of running the new NX I have been very pleasantly surprised. Comfort is similar to my previous RX and I would say that road noise, using the same roads, is actually lower. No negatives about the tyres fitted to the NX from me at the moment.
  2. Barry, try ALA, they offer GAP replacement car cover and are usually very competitive, especially if you search for discount codes. I’ve used them 3 times but fortunately never had to claim so, from experience, I can’t tell you what they are like if you have to claim but I have seen decent reviews in that respect https://www.ala.co.uk
  3. Only if you take out GAP insurance on a return to invoice basis. Some GAP insurers also allow an option to cover a full replacement new vehicle.
  4. Ah, just realised that the latest journey would have been using E10 whereas I usually put in E5, so that will be a contributing factor of probably around 3-5mpg 🙄
  5. Yes of course. Just surprised how much the temperature impacted on a long journey. I was expecting an increase in consumption due to the low ambient temperature but was still hopeful of something in the low 40’s. My previous RX used to manage 36-38 mpg for same journey in the summer months and 31-33 mpg during the winter months, so a 15% drop in consumption whereas the NX was a 20%+ drop I would be interested in hearing what others manage in HV mode for a long journey at 70mph.
  6. 200 mile trip in ICE mode only yesterday, the vast majority with ACC set at 71mph along the A1 and A14 returned a surprisingly disappointing 38.7mpg 😟. Exact same trip a few weeks ago with similar road conditions returned 49.5mpg with 52mpg back in the height of the summer.
  7. Lexus link message “one or more of your doors is not closed” in reality means “one or more of your doors is not locked”
  8. Sounds to me as though you are comparing dealers though and not the customer service from the 2 marques whom the dealers represent. I’ve never had a problem with my Lexus dealer and I can tell you that our local MB dealer is the exact opposite, almost to the point of the sales manager we saw there 5 years ago being extremely rude to us as prospective customers since, in his eyes, we couldn’t afford the car we wanted to view because of the way we were dressed. He put every obstacle in our way until we left the showroom. He then saw us get into our 3 year old Range Rover and came out of the showroom trying to flag us down. I didn’t stop! Our local Lexus dealer, who we visited directly after the MB experience, was extremely courteous. We were given the keys to an RX and told to bring it back after 2-3 hours. We placed an order and we’re kept fully informed regarding the delivery schedule from week to week. OK, that was 5 years ago but I swore never to walk into that MB showroom again and have never done so. When we wanted to change the RX we went straight to Lexus. The sales guy we dealt with the previous time had retired but the new guy we saw was just as courteous and once again gave us the keys to the NX450 demonstrator to try. Once we placed the order we were given 3 weekly updates regarding the latest delivery schedule. The car arrived 6 weeks later than originally told but we knew it was going to be late weeks in advance of the original estimated date from the regular updates we had. My point is the bad customer experiences are from dealerships. It doesn’t matter which brand of car you purchase, some will be good and some not so.
  9. Thanks for the explanation Colin. I knew it was an EU requirement that lane control systems must be fitted but didn’t realise that it went as far as the driver not being able to permanently disable them. I get why it is fitted but in certain situations it really is not a safety feature but hey ho
  10. Outright dangerous on certain roads. Give it a try, take a road which is not quite wide enough for an HGV unless it has its offside wheels on or just over the white line, move closer into the edge and enjoy the car trying to pull you away from the edge in to the path of the HGV. There was a certain feature on our RRS that I did not like which required turning off every journey. It took me about 6 months to remember to turn it off every time prior to all journeys. Maybe your memory is better than mine 😉
  11. Errr, remembering to🤔. I made a card to put on the center console when I turn the car off but guess what, I forget to put it on there 🙄😄 I’ll get there eventually but it’s still too new to remember to atm Much easier (& safer) to be able to disable it permanently like we could on the RX and like we can on our other car
  12. A prime example being, as previously discussed, the inability to permanently disable LDA (as per my 2018 RX), which is outright dangerous on narrow country lanes, but it’s considered OK by Lexus to take your eyes off the road to disable it via the infotainment screen whilst travelling along your way
  13. Only this 1 recall on mine so it certainly doesn’t reflect your view Alex. The major problem with all new cars is too many unnecessary electronic gizmos. Someone is going to slate me for making this comment but if people need to rely on things like LTA, LCA etc it suggests a lack of the ability to concentrate whilst driving
  14. Maybe Takumi spec cars are taking a little longer due to component delays on the additional gizmos. IIRC there has been some speculation on this previously but could have been on the UX threads @GTI Fingers crossed for some good news shortly 🤞
  15. Would be interesting to see if the difference in timescales is model/spec related 🤔
  16. ^^^^This^^^^^, but what has changed is the actual mileage achieved in electric mode. During Aug-Oct I was achieving 48 miles, being the same as the predicted EV range on the dash. During Nov it has reduced to around 38-40 miles for the same journeys. My regular trips are not the best of journeys for economy with 10 miles being on dual carriageway with 4 busy roundabouts along the way. It has been the poorest sector for returning any decent mpg in all of my cars over the past 22 years😟
  17. That’s strange Adam, I did the opposite and felt it was slightly better. Maybe just shows how the mind works in feeling that any changes we make to be for the better🤔. I’ll change it back again & see how it feels🙄
  18. You can see the beam move away from the outer right slightly when it detects oncoming traffic, almost like a shadow has appeared to your right. TBH I don’t think the headlights on main beam are as good as the AHB system we had on our 2018 RX. They seem to lack distance on main beam but are the same as the RX on dipped beam
  19. The last 5 mins of my wait was while they went to fill it up. I said “i only filled it 3 days ago and had done hardly any petrol miles since so leave it.” Receptionist responded “it is Lexus policy to replenish fuel on recalls so we will squeeze in whatever we can” Guy came back & said “it only took a fivers worth”
  20. Had the recall done this morning. Wasn’t due to be done until Monday but dealer called & said bring today if you want, we’ve had a cancellation in the workshop. It took 1 hour 5 mins so no inconvenience waiting for it, although I did tell them not to wash it.
  21. Over 2980 miles my average is 61mpg using the same criteria as Ken. However, as mentioned by Malcolm, it is only really for the interest of myself since in trying to compare with other there are 2 other important factors which requires being taken into consideration. These being average cost per KWh for electric only miles and the % of mileage completed in petrol mode only.
  22. Plus find out & correct why the app misses journeys. Mine was fine for the 1st 3 months but for the past month missed journeys are common, particularly ones where I am returning to my home address
  23. I’m happy now I know it’s not only me that has to drive to European cities which the car thinks is en-route to local destinations😅
  24. Ours being done on 28th this month so I’ll report back on the time it took. I’ll be happy if it is 90 minutes since there are places I can go around the dealership to kill 90 minutes. Only having the update to keep the car up to date.only time I tried LTA it seemed to work ok but tbh I can’t see me using it again, can’t see the point of it.
  25. Called to book ours in today & was told that they will need it for 90 minutes which includes the mandatory safety check etc. 🙄
