  1. I had some issues in my first month of ownership (September) but nothing recently. I do get the message but am grateful for it as I usually find that one of the doors isn't closed properly. That door is usually the rear offside door; it looks closed but if I push on it, I can tell that it hasn't closed fully.
  2. Sounds like my doctor when I tell him I'm sneezing (or whatever ailment I might have) and he/she tells me that as others have the same symptom, it isn't a problem! My car doesn't squeak or creak and I wouldn't consider it normal if it did. Of course, I don't know exactly what you're hearing but , if you're not happy, I wouldn't necessarily simply accept the dealers dismissal of your concern.
  3. The hardcopy manual that came with my 450h+ is a slimmed down version of the online manuals and has some nice coloured diagrams instead of the black and white pdf versions. The pdf versions that can be downloaded have good contents list, index and linking. To find info on a particular topic, my favourite way is to use the search box in the pdf reader rather than using the index (only because there are so many pages, it takes a while to get to the index). The results from the search are displayed on the left hand side along with a few words of description. This helps greatly to identify the result that is most likely to answer my question. I click on this link to take me straight to the page. I could also click in the index or contents to take me to the right chapter/page.
  4. This recent video shows that even professional diagnostic tools still need someone knowledgeable to interpret the results. youtube.com/watch?v=POEq1a2-aBc
  5. Apart from a faulty matte installed when British Gas installed the wall charger (which they quickly fixed), I haven't, Touch Wood, had anything like that with my 450h+. Hope it gets sorted for you.
  6. I was quoted £419 at the end of November. My notes read, "weakest cover and reviews but best price"; unfortunately, I can't remember what led me to write this. I'm not in a high crime rate area and usually go for most of the options, except a bigger hire car in the event of an accident.
  7. Me and Microsoft don't get on. To say the least, I'm always frustrated by the clunky, unintuitive user interface (my BBC B/RISC OS computers were way better) and Office is a poorly integrated mash-up of programs originally bought in from other companies. MS is responsible for 80% of the stress in my life. My tombstone will say "RIP, free of Microsoft at last". LoL. In preparation for retirement, I bought an Apple Macbook and Apple tablet. I hadn't used Apple products before and I'm still learning but I agree with Alex' comments completely and as I don't want to live in Apple's walled garden, I'm still frustrated with my computing experience. Incidentally, I still use a RISC PC emulator to access my old Acorn software and I've recently bought a Raspberry Pi for the same reason. The software, once amongst the best, is dated but still useable and intuitive because the user interface was so well thought out.
  8. 'wee beige jobbies'. I want one, or should that be, I want them, or, I want a pair 😉
  9. I watched the Car Care Nut's videos on You Tube. He was complimentary about XTool's offering but even the D7 was more than I wanted to pay. In the end, I bought the A30M as a compromise and because it covers 100s of different vehicles and I receive lifetime updates. I've only used it once so far on my NX 450h+ just to try it out and it worked fine. It came up with a number of 'faults', which surprised me as the car is fine. I guess the real value will only be appreciated when/if I learn how to use it properly and interpret the results!
  10. Okay, I don't know the answer but I still wouldn't rule this out completely (at least for some people, even if i's not related to Brian's original problem). An LCD main display is different to a projected head-up display so it is possible the effect of wearing polarised glasses is different for the two displays. I seem to remember at school an experiment where we turn a polarised lens through 90 degrees to get darker and lighter shades. Are there any photographers out there who use a polarising filter that could offer some insight? I seem to remember the sun and reflections changing as the bezel was rotated.
  11. A Tesla crashed and the driver killed in 2019 for something similar to this, "... Autopilot’s cameras did not notice the white truck because the “brightly lit sky” ..." Full article at: tu-auto.com/teslas-autopilot-fatally-doesnt-see-another-truck/
  12. Page 14 of the multimedia manual reads, The screen may appear dark or hard to see if you wear polarized sunglasses. This is referring to the main display but perhaps it is true for the HUD too?
  13. Thanks Michael, the most recent update I've seen. In September, I was told, 'by Christmas', unfortunately they didn't say which Christmas! 🙂
  14. That's an excellent figure. Are you regularly doing anything to give that range? What's your normal method of charging? The age/mileage of the vehicle so perhaps people could add that info and I'll add it to the stats I'm accumulating. Thanks.
  15. Relax Peter. P132 of the multimedia manual states that Android Auto can be connected using a USB cable. Unfortunately, it doesn't explicitly state that wireless isn't possible yet so a cable has to be used. Early in this thread it mentions that Lexus were hoping to resolve the issue by the end of the year (2022), sadly we are still waiting. Note also that not all cables and ports are equal; you will need to use a data cable in the USB A port. The USB C port is for charging only (why Lexus?) and some after market cables are only for charging a phone and will not carry data (see pages 134 and 135 of the multimedia manual).
  16. In the 80s, I had a set of tyres that were cracking early in their life; I cannot recall the make or mileage. They were sent back to the manufacturer who x-rayed them and returned them with a clean bill of health and a certificate saying that the cracking was cosmetic and the tyres were safe. Of course the garage who raised the concern had no access to x-ray equipment, nor the specialist knowledge to definitively say they were safe, so no blame there and neither do I believe they were just out to sell me another set of tyres because they did everything possible to have them returned to the manufacturer. I am surprised however that this is still a problem as tyre technology has improved enormously over the years. I look forward to reading Peter's update once he receives the results of the review and technical report on his tyres.
  17. My Fuji red NX is only 5 months old - no sign of any fading yet! In the 70s, I worked in a body repair shop and red cars were a nightmare, such was the degree of fading they all seemed to experience. So much so that I swore I would never, ever buy a red car. That remained the case until 2017 when I ended up with a red Ford Focus in my stable, just because it was the only car available at the time I wanted to purchase a new car. I sold it 5 and a half years later and there was no sign of fading whatsoever. Convinced that the problems of the 70s were a thing of the past and having enjoyed my striking red 'Ferrari', it was an easy decision to opt for Fuji red on my Lexus. Naturally a personal choice but I think it suits the NX very well and I don't regret my decision one bit.
  18. This has been raised before and the consensus seems to be that it is a licencing issue. Many of us hope that this will be resolved (soon!) and a software update will provide us with this feature. Some owners have decided not to wait, there are third party solutions, that are explained elsewhere in this forum.
  19. That's a long wait. I ordered mine early Feb (basic spec) and collected it in September so for a 2-3 month later order date, you have had to wait a good deal longer for delivery. Was yours a high spec' order?
  20. First, congratulations on your new car. I'm sure you'll love it, once you get these teething snags sorted out! My suggestion is to look at my suggestions in the thread "Profile Help Please" that I posted on 20 Jan 23. Come back on this thread if you need more help.
  21. Interesting that Lexus have the tazuna design concept to locate the main switches and controls so that they are easily accessed but the same isn't true of the software. The app is probably the worst example of a non intuitive layout but I don't rate the driver profile setup, the instrument display or the other software controlled layouts that highly either. Perhaps that's because the layouts and options are regionalised (USA, Europe, etc) and therefore not part of the rigorous design and quality control that the rest of the car receives.
  22. With acknowledgement to Dave (dts439) and all the excellent contributions to the "NX 450h+ electric and petrol range" thread, I thought I would start this new one just on the predicted EV range. Aim is to collect a bunch of stats to see how range varies with the seasons and how individual cars differ. If you would like to contribute, please include the predicted EV range without Air/Con and the predicted range with Air/Con. For consistency, please ensure the results are for a car that is 100% charged and the charging is complete. Around November, my range (without A/C) was over 47 miles but dropped in December. There appears to be a small recovery lately. My most recent 4 charges have returned the following: 45.6/41.0 - 46.2/42.5 - 46.3/42.6 - 46.5/43.7 (most recent) I'll plot the returns and periodically publish a summary. Thanks for your help.
  23. We've seen this all too often, from Microsoft to so called 'smart' appliances. It's not the engineers, it's the marketing department. They love the bells and whistles features because that's how they sell products/cars. Sadly, I am still as seduced by this as most human beings are, even though I have come to realise that most are just 5 minute wonders that are of little real value. TBH, I can live with that but what really gets my goat is that the software engineers are always being tasked with dreaming up the next set of bells and whistles rather than sorting out the problems with the core, useful bits of the software.
  24. Message on the App this morning reads, "Warning, we are having some issues, you might encounter some problems wile using the app. OK" I take that as positive; one Lexus are acknowledging the problem, two there are (hopefully) changes going on in the background that will give us a better app going forward.
  25. Update to my last paragraph. Missing trips listed above never appeared in the logs, missing for 24 hour period, but next day it seemed okay. However, first trip today was not recorded but the subsequent two were. Is this perhaps due to a central server upgrade? I've completed just over 7,300km according to the odometer and when I sum all the individual trips, it is 300km less so, whilst I am having some problems, they don't appear as bad as some are experiencing.
