New Lexus Link + app released 18th Aug
Harrier Man replied to imgo's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h Club
I hope this isn't the case because I rely on the journey info in the My Lexus portal because the distances there are given in Km (my preference) whereas a download of my journeys in the (old) app was given in miles. I have always said that the user should be given the choice of which units they prefer in the App, portal AND the car and the software should seamlessly convert to whatever the user chooses. I hope the max speed etc problems have now been corrected (where the max speed was shown in kph but marked up as mph - so a true max speed of 62mph was shown as 100mph instead of 100kph) -
In the old days (LoL) design, tolerances and quality are not what they are today. The engine in particular had to be run in and needed an oil change soon after purchase. This could easily be factored into the overall cost of the vehicle and a 'free' service was the norm. Nowadays, tolerances are much tighter and whilst I would aways run-in the engine of a new car (and bed brakes in), manufacturers no longer regard that first oil change as essential. Upshot of all that is that fewer car companies are offering a complementary first service.

Scotland Roadtrip
Harrier Man replied to RichGS11's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
There are some nice harbours along the Moray Firth coast: for example, Nairn, Burghead, Lossiemouth where you can get the cars close to the boats for some nice pictures. Findhorn a lovey bay too. -

You could try the road from CockBridge (Tor-na-Haish) to Tomintoul (also includes parts of the old military road). However, my favourite suggestion would the road around the Applecross peninsular, from Ardarroch to Shieldaig via Applecross. -
I took delivery of my NX one year ago and I did get a hardcopy manual (abbreviated copy of the online manual in colour) and a service book (although I think it had a different name). I like hard copy to browse so I was grateful for receiving both and I think on a vehicle of this price, copies should be offered to those that want them (I also like the online manuals because of the more powerful search options).

Theft attempts with no success
Harrier Man replied to Mad_4u's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h Club
From my reading of the various posts, the answer is currently 'no'. Lexus seem to be concentrating on fitting the plates to RX's in the London area, where the thefts are the most prolific. Some owners have reported that they have been told that Lexus is unaware of Canbus thefts of the NX! However, Lexus does seem to have had its head in the sand when it comes to some customer issues - at least in public, but things are happening behind the scenes. My NX is being serviced next week and I have already told them that I would like a plate fitted if it is available (I am not expecting that it will be, but I'm forever hopeful and I want to get the issue raised within the dealership as worrying about theft reduces my enjoyment of the vehicle). If I learn anything more when I'm there, I'll post the information here. -
Outside mirrors not folding
Harrier Man replied to Antique's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Happened to me on my NX too but I found that I had accidently turned the auto-fold off when fumbling in that area. What Bill suggests will likely restore the auto-fold. -

Tools in the boot
Harrier Man replied to WhiteHart's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h Club
I took my inlay out to see how much space there was. Not enough for a spare wheel but certainly a useful space. A revised inlay would be a good idea. -

I did buy a jack and wheel wrench as I didn't like the empty spaces (!) but as Andrew says, these are heavy cars so if you do buy one for yourself, research and choose carefully. I really would not trust some of the Chinese made ones as I found examples of the same jack claiming different lift capacities. Get a TUV (German standard for quality tested products) branded one if you can. Also, some jacks are made for saloon cars and won't raise the SUV high enough. -

I hope you like watching paint dry Deb! Feels like that sometimes. But, no honestly, I found it fun to track the ship's path and the anticipation as the ship got closer and closer ... -

That's all it comes with. Sadly. Also annoying as manual says tyres should be rotated between servicings but that is difficult without a jack. When I queried it with my dealer, I was told that it wasn't necessary to rotate the tyres (maybe not necessary but I want to). No jack as its just extra weight and I didn't need it because I had either run-flat tyres or a kit to 'repair' & inflate a punctured tyre. -

I asked my dealer and they told me. Wasn't straightforward and took them a bit of work. I'd suggest your dealer is being lazy. Of course Lexus knows what cars they have on what ships, as Michael was able to find out. Once you know the ship name, it can be tracked using one of the (free) marine tracking apps. -
I know the feeling but I wouldn't call them a waste of time. The content could be slicker but the search is a big advantage because there are so many pages and content on a subject may appear in several places. An index doesn't usual cover all references in the same way that a search result does. The proper one is nice to have and I'm glad Lexus supply one.

I bought the Nextbase 620GW for the same price as Lexus charge for supplying and fitting the 380 version and then fitted it myself. I video'd the installation and will post that on YouTube once I have edited the footage. It was easier than I expected. -
Finally cracked a 50 mile predicted range last night with a 50.0 / 49.5. Now a member of that exclusive club!

I was told last September, October time that this feature was a high priority so it is disappointing that here in Europe we are still waiting. I guess the team have prioritised logging-on and find-my-car problems ahead of this feature. I believe it is available on the US version but not sure if there is any sharing of code between the US and Europe.

Continental Trip 450+
Harrier Man replied to ABitterman's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h Club
Same experience and decision for me. I did charge successfully at one B&B but the owner asked me not to do it again because his insurance wouldn't cover it (assured me it wasn't a cost issue). Seems a shame not to make more use of electric charging (recent BBC programme was showing 69p/kWh, more than twice the cost of a home charge) but I'm glad I bought the PHEV rather than having to worry - which would be currently the case if I'd gone all EV . -
