  1. I picked up my car on 1st September and was told by the salesperson that I could have my car serviced at Toyota (15 miles away, versus 150 miles for a Lexus service). I challenged this and it was confirmed. Perhaps plans at Lexus are further advanced than we think!?
  2. Just this morning, my mum (aged 87) gave me her VHS player saying she didn't need it anymore! You can borrow it if you like! When I picked my NX up from the dealer, I found all the glass had been etched with the last digits of the VIN. Not quite the same as a DNA fingerprint but a yseful theft deterrent - as long as the thief sees it before he steals the car.
  3. My V5 arrived and I was also set to verify but the option had disappeared and a tick appeared next to a "Verified" box on one of the screens (can't find where just now). This may have been because of actions by the dealer or Lexus UK but I certainly didn't verify anything. Since picking up my car (1st Sep), additional features have been added but I cannot say which ones belonged to which actions (such as adding "Smart charging" in Connected Services) that I, Lexus or the dealer took around the time of delivery.
  4. AirTag is a tracking system developed by Apple. You need access to one of Apple's more recent phones. Designed for finding your keys and the like but can be used for tracking cars - and people! https://www.apple.com/uk/airtag/
  5. Visiting my mum and she has just given me a little book where my grandad recorded the petrol he put into his car (a Morris Traveller I think, if this was the one with a wood frame on the outside). On the 4th January 1966, he put 4 gallons in the car on his way from Sevenoaks to Maidstone for £1, 1 shilling and 8 old pence.
  6. My seat doesn't move either. I was finding the steering wheel tilted but that was it - until I went into Vehicle Customisation and found an option to change the steering to, tilt and telescope (or something like that) instead of tilt only. Might be a similar seat option that I haven't found yet!
  7. Suggest checking several Internet buyers, not just WBAC, I found a nearly £3k difference between best and worst. On one thread, somebody said they went with Arnold Clark because they offered a good price, only to find they offered £1,000 less on the day. Heard this before too but, of course, to be fair, an accurate description of the condition needs to be given at the outset. There was, and probably still is, info on the website saying order today but if prices rises before delivery, you will be invited to pay the extra (or cancel the order). You should benefit from any model specification upgrades so, personally, I don't think it's an unreasonable approach in the current climate.
  8. Mine was 34 days at sea. "Build" is, I think, a bit misleading. When the app advises build in progress, that's correct but it doesn't come off build until it's on the ship so the 'build' time varies depending on when the next ship is available. Once off-loaded at Portbury, it appears that my car was one of the slower ones to be turned round at Derby (just over 2 weeks) but I expected this as I had told my dealer not to hurry mine through as I wouldn't be picking it up until 1st September. Others were keen to pick up their new car as soon as possible in August and it was right that they got priority, about a week in one case I believe.
  9. Promised shots of the interior. I won't be offended if you don't like it with the red exterior!
  10. I went for the Dark Rose, fancied something different to black/charcoal. I didn't really consider how it might look with the red. Fortunately, I like it! But accept that it is not everybody's taste. Some who pulled faces when I told them the combination now think it looks okay in the flesh. I'll post some pictures when it stops raining.
  11. I went for the Dark Rose interior. It has raised a few eyebrows; doesn't work for some but most say they like the combination when they see it, unless they are just being kind! For me, it's red when I look at it from the outside and something a little different when I'm sitting behind the wheel. Only when the door is open do you see the red of the door frames with the dark rose of the interior both together. I'll take some pictures when it stops raining so people can make up their own mind.
  12. After reading a few articles on this subject, I did invest in a Stoplock, faraday pouches and a cheap tracker but there is only so much I can do and I'm not going to worry about it beyond what I've done already. I picked my new NX up last Thursday (1st September) and pleasantly surprised to see the last part of the VIN etched into all the glass. A really good deterrent - if the thief notices! Not sure if this was done at Derby or by the dealers. Has anyone else found this done on their vehicle?
  13. To answer my own question, Fuji Red looks gorgeous in my eyes. Striking and a little different. What do you think?
  14. Picked mine up on the 1st September too. Already put 500 miles on the car and had little time to play with all the switches and buttons. Oh, so many. Day off work today to explore a bit and guess what? It's peeing down!
  15. I'm still running my car in so no rapid acceleration for me yet but experience so far is that the system is brilliantly engineered, the change from EV to engine to EV is seamless and actually happens a lot more often than I expected in Auto mode when I look at the 'Last Trip' info in the App.
  16. My reading of the manual (page 42, note 14) is that it is only in hybrid battery charge mode (ie engine is charging battery whilst on the move) that the battery will be charged to 80% of fully charged. If you plug it into a wall socket or fast charger, then my understanding is that it will charge to 100% (or something close to it).
  17. Morning update. At 6:55, car was charging, about half full, which seemed reasonable given that I had scheduled the charge to be complete by 8:20. Checked again at 7:40 - no additional charge added. App notification said the charge had been interrupted, about 6:55. Coincidence? Checked the matte, which had tripped (same issue that I had with my first charge). Reset it (push blue toggle down before lifting it to upper position) and the car is now charging. I doubt that it will reach full charge before I leave but I'll report back later.
  18. I had a similar problem with my first charge with the BG supplied charger. Phoned BG and my experience similar to Ken's. Used the domestic wall charger yesterday, no problem, but tonight my car is again plugged into the BG charger with a charge scheduled to be complete by 8:20 tomorrow morning. We will soon find out if all has gone well or whether tomorrow's run will be completed using mainly the petrol engine.
  19. I find a step stool (like the one Herbie linked to) too small - forever moving it. The caravan step is attractive as very robust. However, my preference is for the platform style. I don't have to keep moving it; especially useful when trimming the tops of my hedges; I use it went painting, again so I don't have to keep moving it. I am always mindful however of the sharp aluminium corners that could easily put a nasty scratch in the car if I got careless.
  20. For me, buying a 450h+ wasn't just about reduced running costs, it was also about operating a greener, cleaner car that was better for the environment. Whilst the increase in electricity prices compared with petrol is therefore disappointing, I hope that it doesn't rise so much that I don't make good use of EV mode. My driving will change though, I'll let the car do more of its own thing in Auto mode rather than forcing it into EV mode. I guess the software is set up for engine efficiency rather than the most economical cost, since it doesn't ask the price of fuel or electricity.
  21. Re your last point, I raised this here, . It still seems odd to me that Lexus provide only one pressure for all situations.
  22. WOW, read an article on CAN Bus attacks, very worrying. However, wondering how they got into the car in the first place to connect into the Bus given that Kristina reported that there were no broken windows or doors. Was this a wireless attack that didn't involve a relay attack with the keys (which were in a Faraday pouch)?
  23. Interesting Recent Car History in your signature block. When things aren't just as we would like with our cars (and lots of other things too!), we tend to think the grass is always green on the other side and are quick to criticise without necessarily balancing up those thoughts with the alternatives.
  24. I had this as well last night. I closed the page, went to a new lexus.co.uk page and signed in and it was fine. They must have made some change because until recently, I had to sign in every time I wanted to access the whereabouts of my vehicle (in build, in transit, etc) but this morning it had remembered my log in and I was able to access the account straight away.
