  1. OK LOZ Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder! Regarding snow I know that the police rate them highly for use in bad weather.
  2. Rangy- Ugly tank like vehicles. Very thirsty on fuel but just right for crossing a muddy field.
  3. An Oscar winning performance on TV last night. She nearly had me stretching for a hankie she was so good!
  4. Even if caught exeeding the speed limit you only know if you are going to be done if you receive a Notice of Intended Prosecution within 14 days of the offence. This is if you are not stopped and told at the time. I say this as some cameras flash and there ARE no proceedings as there is no film in the camera or there is a camera defect.
  5. Having gone back to work for 2 days a week on a 3 mth contract. I have struck it lucky for the office party. This will be at a local pub in Winchester and will be a lunch time meal with all the Christmas dishes finished off with a cognac after the pud. I hasten to add that none of us will be driving.
  6. As well as the cost factor one must bear in mind the quality of the customer service. This Includes: 1) Good dialogue between garage and customer 2) Updating you concerning vehicle. 3)Taking an interest in the customer and the vehicle 4)Completion of service to a high standard. This is not indicative of all Lexus garages.
  7. My W reg IS200SE has the same as 'Donk'. The passenger seat is not adjustable like the electric aided one on the driver's side My car was registered 28/3/2000
  8. I was examining the bonnet of my Lexus whilst parked in the garage. I was just thinking that my 2.5 yr old IS200SE only had a small number of paint chips when a small fixture attachment to a ladder came loose and toppled onto the bonnet. I now have a small dent and will get the entire bonnet resprayed. Thats life!
  9. I have returned to work for a short spell doing 2 days a week . On travelling to Winchester I use the park and ride which for £1.50 inclusive is good value. I am amazed that nearly all the passengers ,and I see regular faces, thank the driver on leaving the vehicle. It appears that all is not lost although on journeying around I see a lot of 'yob' like mentality. NOT behind the wheel of a Lexus who I find the drivers to be most cordial even Alan Partridge!
  10. Short trousers till becoming a teenager School caps and detention if caught uncapped Old single deckers where when fully loaded half the passengers got out at the bottom of the hill, walked up the hill and re- boarded the bus again because it could never make it fully loaded Eagle and Champion comics Tommy Steele Johnny Ray and Frankie Laine Hopalong Cassidy and Gene Autrey ( Cowboy films) Johnny Weismuller as Tarzan Amos and Andy ( American black and white TV) Highway Patrol Policemen who had a night duty helmet with a black badge rather than chrome. Police Whistles. The day Traffic Wardens started in Southampton and on the TV news the centre of attention was, yes, a parking meter. One of the nice things about age is that you can whistle whilst brushing your teeth Your birthday cake gets bigger in order to accomodate all the candles You know you are ageing when it takes longer to get over a good time than to have it.
  11. To Clair G Quote 'Simply the best.' Yes that brings back memories. Besides listening to 'cool jazz' I love Tina Turner! Either sounds great on the Lexus Audio system.
  12. Lets not get too sensitive on these matters . The Lexus car will speak for itself and anyone who gets behind the wheel will find this out. I belong to the generation where to think of the term 'cool' one thinks of Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan and Miles Davis. Now they were COOL !
  13. Saw the show last Monday and it had me in stitches. There was a brief shot of the Lexus. Will watch it again.
  14. Some days you can't win. Last Thursday at 8am it took I hour 45 mins to drive on A and B class roads from Southampton to Winchester , a distance of 12 miles. The two motorways M3 and M27 had accidents on each. The trains were running 80 minutes late owing to a body on the line at Basingstoke. Perhaps it would have been better to have stayed in bed!
  15. Michael Jackson an absolute w***er.
  16. How do you react when on attending a luncheon the toast is to the Queen? I often look around and half the glasses are empty. Is this now an out of date custom? Perhaps the Prime Minister is more in need of our toast than anyone else!
  17. I have come out of retirement and I am working as a planning officer for the County Council doing 15 hours a week which is 2 days. I can cope with this as it gives me plenty of time to do other things.
  18. On page 123 of my 1999 owners manual there is reference to the air intake. I know that in the past when I have had my air intake intake closed the car has been damp. Make certain that the air flow is open.
  19. I agree with Vince. we cannot remain insular but must think of ourselves as Europeans. The quicker we get the Euro the better it will be to adapt. THIS WILL BE PROGRESS!
  20. Never heard of this Partridge chap before but I will watch him tomorrow on BBC2 at 10pm( Just in case there are any others like me)
  21. Let the armed services use the new equipment. It is not owned by the fire brigade and if they interfere or attempt sabotage get the police to lock them up for criminal damage and threatening behaviour. The country cannot be held to ransome.
  22. Well I have just returned to work for 2 days a week having retired in 2000. I am amazed that in so short a time the number of cars appears to have increased during the peak periods including school times. I use the Winchester Park and Ride and for £1.50 all in I consider it good value. The problems with a number of cities is cars attempting to pass through from one side to the other. As there is no other way round the city having a tax to enter a certain zone would be unfair. I consider we all pay enough tax already and it is encouraging to see that Park and Ride is well subscribed.
  23. I locked my keys in the boot 2 mths ago. I was at the gym and my wife was out. I live 4 miles away. I jogged for 2 miles but felt tired after my workout. I then saw a taxi which I flagged down and had a lift to arrive home at the same time as my wife. I quickly returned with her to the gym with a spare key. Still like to know how one could open the boot.
  24. All sympathy to our soldiers for all their splended work. I say let the govt give the fire brigade appliances to the soldiers who have been trained up specially for the new equipment. In the Mail today a tradesman was reported as applying for the fire brigade. He stated that with their current shift pattern he could easily do both jobs with his plastering being done for cash without payment of any tax.
  25. 40% not realistic, it would open the floodgates for any other public service. The firemen do not want their conditions of work altered which governs the shift patterns owing to the fact that it would interfere with their second jobs. I feel sorry for the army backing up with out of date equipment which does not do justice to their professional attitude and also the public will suffer as a result.
