  1. Thanks I admired them on 007's car at Brooklands meet. Did'nt know that they were called 'eyebrows'. Must get used to this century's lingo!
  2. At the risk of someone saying 'Where have you been', what are eyebrows?? Is it possible to see a photo?
  3. In Southampton new cameras have been erected on the main dual carriageways going from Bitterne into the city . The speed limit is 30 mph. I went into the city a few days ago and all the cars are now bunching and as one of the roads is down a hill its a case of constant braking. I would not call this effective road safety but an axample of the indirect taxation which is being forced upon us. Some may lose their jobs through the totting up procedures if caught. .
  4. The Council is closed on a BH so tomorrow if I were you I would contact the Highways Dept in an attempt to locate the defective drain cover and report the incident. All claims are done through insurance and its a pity you have not got a photo. If its not too far to journey its worth an attempt to return and take one and examine the cover. Look very closely as applying the Locard principle of exchange it is possible that there may be a smear of blue paint or alluminium on the cover. I f you are going to do this I advise you attend the scene before reporting it. Best of luck.
  5. I quite like the dials on the current model but would like a more modern colour coded dash board made out of quality material.
  6. The wheelie bin camera and other forms of disguised cameras are down right disgusting. Nothing to do with road safety but just adding extra money to the police coffers. This is now a form of indirect taxation and the procedures adopted are likely to be challenged under the European Rights legislation. I shall engage in some research in order to ascertain the legalities of such practices. I feel very angry that police forces are stooping so low at a time when public confidence in them needs to be renewed.
  7. Honda advert beats any others currently available hands down. Honda, a quality advert for a quality car , pity its not advertising Lexus.
  8. Thanks Supra, I know we are talking in the region of £100 for a new headlamp.
  9. Hi guys, Someone must know the answer reference whether the electric motor which adjusts the headlight level is part of the headlamp or not. Any Advice would be much appreciated.
  10. Happy returns young Matt. I have stopped counting!
  11. Had local garage do the MOT and the Is200Se nearly failed. The front nearside headlight would not adjust. I had a small bump just after getting it and I thought there was no damage. Apparently the motor has gone. The garage did a hand adjustment and just got enough height on the beam. The car is now out of warranty. My question concerns the electronic motor. Is it inside the headlamp? I know that a new lamp will cost about £100. I have read about headlamp changes and it appears they are easy to change over. Any comments or advice on the motorised adjuster?
  12. James2210 Sadly I cannot argue with you. Apparently Blair in America in the popularity polls rates 62% and President Bush 60%. It is evident that Blair being a trained lawyer and very articulate initially comes over well but as seen at home as time progresses does not produce the goods. I read that Directory Enquiries for the phone may even be moved to India.
  13. Sorry Mat. I mean't cannot move steering wheel in and out. Good to see you IT chaps are on the ball!
  14. Great car Only dislike is unable to raise/ lower steering wheel but I can live with that. Have had a number of cars but the Lexus IS200 is the best for reliability, performance and for its size it looks OK. Last car was the new Celica , rather tinny compared to the solid Lexus.
  15. Keep flying! A very good buy and a very reliable car, you will enjoy it. Welcome aboard.
  16. Nick, I blew my cover years ago as I retired in 1986 and became a Chartered Planner. From my knowledge of the Construction and Use Regs a driver need not have a spare wheel. If he does carry one it must comply with the regs. As the offence is driving.. with a faulty tyre... on a road ,the spare wheel if let say it was dangerous, there is an offence of ' dangerous parts and accessories'. I know of one traffic pc who reported someone for only having two tyre valve covers, i.e. dangerous parts and accessories. His Sgt told him not to be so stupid as well intentioned advice was best. The driver was sent an advisory letter.
  17. I have now tried Autoglym extra protection and its fab. Will now be using Mer a lot less say twice a year.
  18. I drove from Southampton to Exeter last week and did about 380 miles around Devon. My average mpg was 34. I drove at leisurely speeds but never slow .
  19. Bluebeard See you have a Kensington Green IS. So have I. I have used Mer but after reading all the ravings over AutoGlym I am off to Halfords. Its the final shine I am after.
  20. I use the locking nuts from the new Toyota Celica. They look better and are more secure being a different type from the Lexus.
  21. Just spent a week around Exeter. The only Lexus I saw was a silver IS200 on the M5 travelling north 6 miles out of Exeter at about 1145am on Friday.
  22. I agree with Bash83, full support to our services out there and to their families back here. I am uneasy about going in so soon as innocent people are at risk of being killed. On the other half one hears that a large majority of Iraq want Saddam out and relish him being overthown. There is the other strain of thought that there has always been problems in the middle east and is it up to USA and UK to sort it out? I think not as where will it stop? Lets hope that it will soon be settled without too much loss of life on either side. Its Saddam everyone is after.
  23. I do not think that Alan Partridge has affected the sales of IS 200's in the slightest. They still remain exclusive and for the discerning motorist. I have just come back from Devon after a short break and saw 1 IS200 on the M5 the only other Lexus I saw the entire week. As for the BMWs there appear to be as many as Fords on the roads!
