You are right , its no claim not no blame. This catches many owners out through no fault of their own. The thing to do having reported it to the police and obtained the accident report number is gather as much evidence as possible that you are blameless.

In answer to Doodlebug, a few days ago I went to the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, Southampton for the unveiling of the new RX300 4 wheel drive. Quite a professional presentation if you are into 4 wheel drives. There were none of the usual Lexus Owners Club members present ( sad to say) but a large number of very elderly retired business types and a couple of builders. I asked around and all the over 50's did not use computers and had never heard of the owners' club. It is apparent that my age group, not having grown in a computer era, develop a certain antipathy towards computers through lack of confidence. This can be quickly dispelled when properly introduced to them. ( learning through insight and understanding) But trying to tell them that is a major task!

When you young chaps talk about the older element driving Lexus models do not forget that we remember when cars were far less technical and we had a mechanic round on a Sat afternoon to tune our twin carbs. I am thinking of my 1959 Riley 1.5. The fact is we greatly appreciate all the advances in car production which result in us driving great cars like Lexus have! ( speaking as 1.50 % of membership)

Its the car I am interested in and not the number. The only thing with plates is that I like to see them in first class condition not faded or with water marks. Put me down as ' not fussed'

When I had a new Toyota Celica from the Toyota dealer at The Hague, Holland in 2000 I found the following differences on putting it in part exchange: Different Audio system from the Uk model Different Alarm system from the UK model Yet it was all listed as Uk spec. I did however get a good part exhange value.

If you look in the previous subject on wind noise, I have put details of the firm at Sidcup who sells not only wind deflectors for sunroofs but also side windows.

On my previous cars ( Rovers and Nissans) with sun roofs I bought and fitted an acrylic smoke tinted wind deflector on the roof. I think that I will get one for the Lexus 200. They are made in Germany. They certainly help in eliminating wind noise. Replaced alloys under warranty for my IS200 are first class, much easier to clean and looking better than the originals.

Hi guys, I do know from past experience that number plate questions come up in the police promotion exams. If you come across an ardent number plate enforcer its probably some pc who is in the course of studying for the exams. Try to divert his interest to the crime paper such as definition of a burglar!

Reading the messages ref legalities, yes, if owing to the presence of a vehicle on the road damage or injury is caused to another vehicle , animal or property the driver must stop and exchange details. Failing to do so is an offence. The driver must give his particulars to anyone having reasonable grounds such as the owner of the damaged vehicle. How do the police know that the vehicle is legit. i.e. it may be stolen, uninsured, no mot , no driving licence or the driver disqualified ??

This is bad news. In my first career I was in the police and a pimp's car ( he was running a prostitute around) was hit by a customs officer going on night duty. The customs officer did not stop and he was to blame for the accident. The reg no was obtained I carried out a check and visited his home 5 miles outside Southampton. Being told he was on night duty at Southampton Docks I found the vehicle and took paint scrapings which I sent to the Forensice Science Lab. They were able to confirm that the paint smears on the offender's car bore paint of the same type i.e. red Hillman ,as the pimps. The Custom's officer proved very difficult to deal with but we finally got home with a conviction which ultimately helped the injured party. The pimp told me that he was suprised that we took any interest and was told ' every complaint of hit and run' is treated the same. How times have changed and I consider the current attitude of the police in dealing with injured parties to be diabolical and unacceptable. The problem is 'Who do you complain to'? The police complaints procedure needs overhauling.

The problem with gold is that it shows every scratch. Having seen Bazza's red IS200 I would say red is my favourite with green second.

I have just heard from Marshall Rolf ( Southampton) that in 9-10mths time they will be opening new Toyota and separate Lexus showrooms at new premises at Hedge End, Southampton East. They told me that the Lexus showroom will give them plenty of room to exhibit new cars in comfortable surroundings .

Yes now that I know what eyebrows are I am interested, I take it they are from the USA? But how much?
