  1. My dad bought a 54 plate Lexus Ls 430 from Park lane (who to be frank have not been any good) and whilst they refurbed the alloys it appears they have only done four. The result - the car has 4 new looking dark grey / titanium wheels but the spare is the original traditional chrome alloy. Therefore, before we try lexus GB and raise a stink, anyone got a smoked grey 18 inch alloy for sale?? Thanks!! :D
  2. The record has been broken again!!! :) m1 today filled up with Shell V-Power and averaged 32.6 mpg at average 61mph for 67 miles :D Engine runs like a dream on this stuff and even on short journeys later mpg still reads 27.6
  3. There have a been a few replies elsewhere about this but I found spraying Febreeze/Dettol anti-bacterial into external air vents did the trick for me.
  4. Noticed my D/S leather is getting very grubby so was wondering if there are any recommended seat covers for RX??
  5. The RX can be quite economical if you try but the mpg trails off very steeply as speed rises. Knowing this now I allow a little more time for my journeys and just tootle along at 70mph. less stress and less cost :D Amazing how the type of vehicle changes your driving style - when I had my GS i drove like my trousers were on fire all the time! :P
  6. Aliens Where Eagles Dare Snatch The Black Hole Great Escape :D
  7. Stand your ground and drop hints about buying a BMW and telling all your mates to do the same.
  8. my Nov 2006 Rx 350 does the same - lasts until temp needle gets about 1/3 up the dial then goes away. Assume it's normal.
  9. Check out RX forum for a similar thread started by me. In short how many miles you have on RX 350?? Mine was similar to yours up until about 3000 miles. Now I get about 19-21mpg on short journeys and have seen 31 a few times on a steady 70mph cruise. As for ragging it, remember it is a 270+ bhp 3.5l V6 petrol in a 2 tonne car and it will like a drink !!! :-)
  10. switch air con on full without recirculate. pop the bonnet and spray a healthy dose of Febreeze anti bacterial or dettol etc into the air vents under the wiper arms. Should cure it.
  11. Having been lucky enough to own both it really boils down to this : Do you want a wafty uber comfy big car which does not encourage hooliganism or a slightly smaller, more sporty drive? If it's the former it's the LS, the latter then the GS. You won't be disappointed by either but if you are the kind of person who likes an occasional B road blast I would edge towards the GS.
  12. 1. In the boot there is an air purifier. What is this for? Rear Air Conditioner Unit 2. When you put the drivers seat back, the head-rest goes up. The dealer says this is a feature, is this true? I assume you mean when you tilt seat back?? in that case yes or at least mine did it :) 3. There is a cool-box in the rear, behind the rear armrest and between the boot. How do you turn the cool air on to this? switch on rear air con to auto and drop temperature if I remember correctly. 4. Although I have set my memory seat, each time I start the car the steering wheel does not return to the correct position for me. The dealer is unhelpful with this issue. Any advice? mmmm?? it should return to whatever position you stored TBH. 5. In the sat-nav options, there is a button called "motor-way mode". What is this for? If it is same as current nav then this will display a window to the right of map showing motorway junctions and service stations 6. It has the smart-key system. Does anyone know if this will allow the keys to tell the car who the driver is and re-arrange the seats and air temp? If this model will do it, how can it be done? I think so - you store all your settings as known user via the touchscreen and then you can set t key. TBH I think Lexus need to do this or it is buried in the manual. Really looking forward to any answers and any help and advice.
  13. Congratulations - the RX is a brilliant car. :D just hope that thief Gordon Brown doesn't screw us "gas guzzlers" too hard in the budget!!!!
  14. My RX 350 took about 3000 miles to really feel loosened.
  15. I maybe wrong but I think the seat AC takes it's feed from the main AC?? So if the main AC is blowing hot then the seats chill less.
  16. Yep all doors and boot are self closing. New one also has adaptive front lights (swivel) and 18 inch wheels in place of seventeens.
  17. "I see people preaching Christianity all the time in towns and cities!" True but I bet you can't recall anyone of them demanding that Muslims, Sikhs, Jews be beheaded because they didn't subscribe to Christian values??? I'm sure that if the majority of law abiding tolerant Muslims were seen to stamp on this behavior and publicly made a stand against it then I'm sure that this thread would have been a lot shorter. As it is a lot of the population of this country are well p**sed off that a stand against extremism was not made. Like I said though - great debate :)
  18. Maybe the reason that people are sensitive to a large Super-Mosque in London is not to do with the cost, but going back to the start of this thread, what some mosques represent. Whilst it is true that the Buddhist, Sikh and Jewish Communities do have large publicly funded temples we have yet to see them rally in the street demanding death to infidels and preaching hatred towards a country that kindly provides the funding for their places of worship?? BTW this is turning into a good debate - maybe we should get all affected parties to resolve their issues via LOC?? :-)
  19. A pattern appears to be emerging - short journeys it matters not a jot what fuel you use. RX will gobble it at about 18-20 mpg. decent motorway journey it definitely appears worth sticking Super in.
