  1. Be aware that the SE_L models have air suspension so would advise driving with and without. My opinion was that air suspension gives useful ride height/levelling capability and is better at higher speeds. Coils are better at low speeds on rough surface but more bouncy at higher speeds. MPG - I have a 350 but get about 20 in town and 25-28 on motorway. Servicing - first one as about 190 and 20,000 miles was 475 but this included new front discs and pads. Service only was 280 I think. Tyres -I got about 18K out of the originals and cost 600 to replace all four with Dunlops. Faults - a creaky glove box when very cold and I had drivers seat replaced because the cushion went soft on me (I am a larger boned gentleman ) Overall - excellent car (I had a GS430 before it).
  2. 1999 when my dad came home with an IS200 SE!
  3. Get them alone - slap them hard in the face and say "catch me if you can"
  4. I had a 2003 LS 430 and swapped for a GS430 and now an RX so here is my 2p worth. It's comparing apples and Oranges really but here goes... 1) LS has lazy V8 - RX has "zingier" V6 - LS has quieter engine 2) Ride is more bouncy in RX - not a limo like LS but handles very well and is very comfortable. 3) RX not as big inside as LS but not that much smaller - does however have practicality of hatch and fold down seats to make a BIG boot. 4) My 350 gets around 20 mpg around town and 27 ish on Motorway - actually through roadworks with cameras on M1 I have seen 30+ a few times. Be warned that compared to LS it is a small tank (72) litres so range is about 320 miles. 5) Spec - I have SE-L which has air suspension, adaptive headlamps, Makr Levinson stereo, ICE, cruise control, Sat Nav, leather, electric everything basically, reversing camera (I also added front and rear sensors) so you will pretty much have every toy you will need. 6) 4WD obviously - works all the time in the background. LS was very stable car but like all RWD you could slip the wheels in wet etc. RX doesn't do this. You can blast out of wet side roads/junctions with confidence! 7) RX is shorter than LS - much easier to park Overall in a perfect world that didn't involve parking in multi storey car parks I would pick an LS 430 however I can say that my RX is a fantastic car and I have no regrets about buying one.
  5. This is par for the course unfortunately - I was offered similar for mine, also 56 plate : - Nobody wants big petrol 4*4 - Lexus depreciate quickly anyway - 400H outsells 350 by 9:1 so Lexus don't want to part ex if they can help it. My plan is to keep mine for about 4 years when depreciation will have tailed off.
  6. Not heard of the air suspension on the 400 but on 430 the ride height sensors sometimes go. This confuses the computers. So before you replace stuff get the sensors checked - it's a cheaper fix I believe.
  7. strange - one thing - is the passenger side set to a vastly different temperature to drivers side??
  8. Lexus Seats are not the best - I have had them replaced on my LS, GS and now RX. Seems if you are "bigger boned" they can sag. Lexus didn't raise a fuss and just replaced them. I would ask for another.
  9. I had a Samsung J600 and the bluetooth connection was pants - good at my end but much buzzing at the other. Swapped handset for a Nokia Express Music and it works a treat - the BT signal strength bit even registers the signal now!
  10. I bought a GP2X console a while back - looks like a PSP but runs LINUX. Loaded lots of emulators onto and now have 3000 Commodore Games at my disposal as well as NES, SNES, Megadrive, Speccy and atari games. Class!!! :D
  11. you folks should check out retrogamer magazine...
  12. I once had a Citroen and took it to the garage because the passenger seat was making a racket. Boy did I feel stupid after the engineer inspected it and found a bag of music cassettes under it!! :D
  13. I'd probably go one of two ways - back to BMW for a 135i or having experienced the Toyota world, a new Landcruiser V8 :D
  14. Dunhill Desire Dunhill Pursuit Mont Black Individuel Gucci Envy Armani Black Code Chanel Homme Sport YSL Homme la Cost Pour Homme Givenchy Very Irresistible BOSS Dark Blue Bloody hell what a tart I have become :D
  15. When my RX read zero miles I filled up but could only get 66 of 72 litres in the tank so I reckon that would be at least another 30 miles or so.
  16. There have been a few discussions about how accurate the Lexus fuel gauges are. Found this site which is interesting :) Miles after empty
  17. The system relies on "self incrimination" in that it relies on most people taking the easy route - admit guilt, slap on wrist and fine. The system simply could not cope if everyone went to court and requested evidence to available to them. This would mean upwards of 2 million cases per year clogging up the court system.... a couple of examples below (and we wonder why motorists get mad!!??) of how the system is heavily weighted against motorists and how innocent until proven guilty no longer applies... 1) The NIP is said to be served when it has been posted using ordinary post, it is still valid even if it gets lost in the post. The burden of proof is on the potential defendant to prove that neither he nor the registered keeper received the notice and the prosecution only need to prove that the notice was posted. 2) From Motorcycle news may 2007 - Police say: 'Confess, or you don't get speeding evidence' Speeding suspects are being told they must admit it was them before police will say how fast they are accused of going. Speeding notices say only that a bike was photographed exceeding the speed limit. To get more information suspects are told they must first confess to being the rider at the time. Police say the speed is then provided along with a £60 fixed penalty fine and three points. Riders can refuse the penalty and challenge the speeding charge in court but are warned they risk more points and a bigger fine if found guilty. Photographs issued also have details of speed removed. Police claim the speed cannot be revealed under data protection legislation. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the government organisation which promotes access to information, has called the explanation an excuse. An ICO spokeswoman said: “It’s one of these cases we do find happens reasonably frequently where people use data protection as an excuse.” In other words, we think you are guilty, just admit it and make life easier (for us) and even then we won't provide the evidence used against you.
  18. I had same problem at 24K on a 2003 LS 430 - warped discs. Lexus Bracknell replaced them free of charge under warranty.
  19. Another mystery - normally if I fill up to the first nozzle cut off and drive from Berkshire to Durham the needle would be just above the empty mark at the end of the journey of approx 290 miles. However this time I filled up and brimmed until I had filled the neck as well. This time the same journey said I had over a quarter of a tank left for the same journey. Just how random are Lexus fuel gauges??!! :D
  20. Be very interesting to see comparison of MK 3 LS vs last generation S class
  21. sensors are definitely affected by frost and by mud/road grime.
