  1. i used engine paint in silver, its completely heat resistant and takes about 10 mins to dry hard !! you should be able to get that from any motor shop in venice, mind you why do need a car in venice ?
  2. great idea thanks, just bought some using your link :D
  3. if that doesnt work ive got some small koi carp for sale, they would look cool swimming around in your front lens ! :D
  4. thanks keith, my style is a bit old grannieish to be honest so they may be alright for me. hopefully i wont need any for another 10000 miles anyhow but reading the posts about tyres on the is 200 i may require them sooner than that ( ive done 7200 miles so far no sign of inner tread wear, ive even got the bobbles on the tyres still).
  5. sorry to hijack a topic but its on the same theme. on mytyres.co.uk i found a set of hankook ventus sport k104 tyres 215/45/17 for £64.10 delivered. now when i checked their rating in the survey they came out better than the bridgestone potenza by a distance especially for road noise and tyre wear. does anyone know if these tyres are any good coz if i believed the tests they looked better than most of the rest and upto half the price. cheers
  6. My old mr2 used to make a dripping noise and that was caused by the aircon system. although why they installed aircon in a targa top 2 seater sports car ill never know.
  7. hopefully this will clear it all up. ive had my spare wheel out today and it didnt have a centre cap with it, when you change the wheel you just swap the cap from the original wheel to the spare. if anyone knows differently then let me know and ill get on to my dealer aswell :D
  8. but i like to be different scarface ok ill change it
  9. Forget it people ive found the thread i was looking for and now know how to do it . thanks
  10. hi again, im halfway through installing some metasystem sr2 rear parking sensors and its all up and running except for one thing, i need access from the boot into the passenger compartment, i read how to do it last week somewhere on this site but i cant find out where despite searching for the last hour. so if someone can put me out of my misery i would be most pleased. thanks
  11. thanks guys, youve answered my question, i now know that i own a glenlarvon pine lexus and not a kensington green one like i thought. not that it makes much difference in the end though
  12. hi colin i was hoping youd be on coz i knew you could help ! mines an april 2003 is 200 se
  13. Whilst ive been meesing around looking for the revering beep im my Is 200 se i looked at the silver plate located on the panel inside the engine bay near to the windscreen and found the paint code which is the last 3 of the long numbers. The paint code was 6R4. I then looked up the paint code on this website in the knowledge base and it said that 6R4 was Glenlarvon Pine. i have a touch up tin which has 6R4 typed on it also and it matches my paint perfectly. The only problem is my car is supposed to be Kensington Green, but having never seen both colours next to each other i cant tell the difference anyway. Is it the website thats wrong or is my car in fact Glenlarvon Pine and not Kensington green as stated by the Lexus dealer when i bought it. Or are they the same colour with different names which is what some car makers do over time to confuse everyone. ?
  14. Now your talking Whitie !! unfortunatley im not an electrical type person, but i like the idea
  15. supercharged is correct, ive been in my car and figured out that the noise definatley comes from behind the speedo cluster and thats about as far as i have got so far sorry i have no idea how to remove the cluster so im not gonna bother until i get some more advice. I agree that if i didnt have the reversing sensors the noise wouldnt be a big deal but now ive fitted them i know when im in reverse coz the sensors let me know with their own little beeps, its like having R2 bloody D2 sat in the front passenger seat :shutit:
  16. Reminds me more of a bin wagon reversing :D I was gonna listen and look for the llittle mic or buzzer that makes the beeping noise rodders but im pretty crap with electrics and didnt want to go cutting wires without some help. having read through most of the topics and seen some of the amazing mods that have been made to the cars im sure someone has already been there done it and got the t shirt if i do eventually manage it i will pass the knowledge on honest
  17. C`mon people i know your gonna tell me its a safety issue and all that but come on no other car has this feature and it starts beeping the same time my reversing sensors come on so it gets kinda annoying listening to both systems at work, by the way i have a is200 manual gearbox. surely some of you technical gurus and modders have messed around with this beep and removed it in the past. If so help me out by giving me some step by step instructions on how to silence the beep so i can only hear my reversing sensors. my next port of call is going to be my lexus dealer but im sure they will just say you cant turn it off for safety reasons, but that argument is rubbish coz i know when im in reverse as my parking sensors spark up and therin lies the whole problem ! Thanks
  18. squarehead, is that a wind up or a recognised way of getting rid of it. i need to know before i go outside and make an idiot of myself by following your instructions and having the car enter a self destruct countdown sequence leaving me with only a smoking remote key :duh:
  19. thank *** for this site, i thought it was just me, i couldnt figure out why it was doing this and now i know. I even blamed the wife for messing around with the settings
  20. its amazing what can happen in an accident, i was once called to a car that had gone into a field on a bad bend, when i got there i saw a red vauxhall nova on its side in a ploughed field, on closer inspection there was no sign of the driver but the drivers window was open. as i walked around to the drivers door i tripped on something, i loooked down to see a pair of legs and feet sticking out from under the car. I pushed the car over back onto its wheels and the driver was laid on his back squashed into the mud arms and legs stretched right out. He blinked and started to stand up. Obvioulsy i did the normal thing and screamed out "JESUS *****" or similar words. He stood up shook my hand and said thankyou, there was not a mark on him apart from grazing to his head. he had span out of control gone into the field and began to sommersault, he had no seatbelt on so he flew out of the opened drivers window and into the air before landing on his back spread out deep in the thick wet mud. he then noticed the car tumbling towards him it eventually stopped and landed directly on him squashing him further into the mud. luckily for him i was only a minute or 2 away coz he was starting to have trouble breathing under the weight of the car. if i hadnt of been there to see it myself i never would have believed something like that could happen oh and just to show him my caring side he was prosecuted later :winky:
  21. I ve got to agree with the cheap £30 one from B & Q, i bought one last year and it works fine, just give car a quick squirt to get rid of dust particles etc then hand wash and rinse off again with washer. Ive had no problems other than it cuts out after 10-15 mins when overheated, but thats coz im lazy and would rather stand there and blast the living ***** out of dead fly on the front grill than just remove it with a cloth. :duh:
  22. thats one of the nicest cars ive ever seen well done
  23. well ive just foun this thread so dont ridicule me for being late to the party, but ive just trawled through the feedback and most if not all of the negative feedback left relate to the same problem BULBS NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH !!! Just as you already suspected, im so glad i didnt get any now and its not just lexus dashboards that are getting the treatment, its good to see that hes managing to ruin Vauxhalls and other makes aswell
  24. hi. Chris aged 33`ish married to Jayne with no kids and i live on a farm in north yorkshire, where we breed rare species of ducks, sheep, peacocks and golden pheasants, occupation Policeman, but ive been off sick this last year as i have cancer so dont ask me any tricky legal questions coz ive forgotten most of it :D I bought a brand new VW golf 2.8 v6 4 motion last october that gave me nothing but hassle, it was in and out of the dealership more times than i was in and out of hospital and because of my illness i got rid of it for something more trouble free. I bought a used 2003 Lexus is200 se with 3000 miles on the clock and it has been brilliant ever since. no mods yet the only thing im considering is parking sensors and blue interior dials when they become available.
