  1. Irritating. I have been a member of this club for over a year and I have only discovered this general chat forum today.
  2. They are 6 altezzas on Autotrader at the mo, not all of them have made it into the country yet tho! Just do a search under Toyota Altezza (yes it is listed - surprisingly!). Shouldn't be telling you this as I'm trying to corner the market!!!
  3. He appears to have lost his engine.....
  4. I may well be flogging mine (when I get my Altezza - hopefully next weekend) as I think they look a bit cack. However I won't be, if taking them off leaves a mark!
  5. Does anyone know anywhere that will convert the JDM Sat Nav on an import Altezza to work in the UK?
  6. I thought optimax was 88.5 RON.
  7. Fair play mate. I agree opinion is divided, they're huge in Yanksville - they love them there. Personally I like the super slick, understated Brit look myself (ie. not loads of dodgy graphics etc!!) Have you checked out Duncan's rims? IMO they are the best I've seen on an IS200 (mind you the one's on the tezza i might buy are pretty cool!!) I think Dunans are 19's - way cool.
  8. Cheers, Kavey don't get chrome wheels mate......! :o They're nasty! Surely you'd like some nice matt athracite(sp) ones?!
  9. This is an interesting discussion to read as like KV rightly says i'm looking for a 'tezza at the mo. I have had a look/drive of JayOne's and am probably going to buy it (if my finance company plays ball!). It's a sweet motor - lowered, after market wheels, leather seat covers, TV/Sat Nav (not converted for UK). The only doubt I have is whether I should wait for a manual to come up? This one is an auto with tiptronic. The car doesn't feel a lot quicker than my IS200 to 60mph, but puts a smile on your face after that :D I'm sure a nice little 75 shot of NoS will put an even bigger smile on my face!!! Kavey, you seem quite anti the auto version of this car - why is that? Also do you know if it's possible to convert the Sat Nav to work in the UK - and if so how much and who does it?
  10. Sorry to hear about your bad run mate. Sounds like a definite p1sser. A work colleague of mine was hit up the back by someone a few months ago. Apparently the bloke got out, kick his car, said 'I knew that was going to happen', and drove off! My mate got his number plate and rang the police. They chased it up and it turned out the guy was driving uninsured. Anyway there is some common pot of money for unisured drivers (can't remember what it's called) and they paid out for the work to be done. In the end my mate had to testify in court about the guy hitting him and leaving the scene of an accident. It was a lot of hassle but he didn't lose his no claims bonus. I would demand that the police look into it. If they don't seem to want to play ball, just mention the phrase 'local newspaper' to them.
  11. Actually he also asked: I could probably knock one of these up for about £20. I guess it really needs to be in it's own box, could probably make it fairly small but will need to know the maximum size just in case. Any thoughts?
  12. Geoffers, My mate who is a electronics engineer has offered to knock out one of your circuits for me for £20. Does this sound okay? He has asked if I want the bare wires to connect it. Do I? (bear with me - i really have no clue about this (also have 'tried' to read your instructions which I'm sure are fine for people with more than -20 IQ, but struggled bigtime!)) Cheers. Jon
  13. Whoa easy tiger! Basically I think the Streetworks car is amazing. Saw it in Revs a few months ago (not that i buy Revs obviously... ahem ) Great wheels and sweet paint job. When I get my Altezza finally any chance of a similar job on it SWZ?
  14. Hi, and welcome. Check out this thread here it sums up the main differences between the UK and Jap versions. IMHO, if you want power + performance get an Altezza - but bear in mind it's not gonna have anywhere near the poke of a Subaru Imprexa. However the 4 cyl engine is apparently a lot more tuneable. If you want more luxuries (leather, heated + electric seats, headlight washers, a radio that actually works in the UK (!), Sat Nav etc.) and a Lexus warranty (very good) then get a IS200. Or even better an IS300!! Hope this helps.
  15. Hi Geoffers, Let's say you have no experience of electronics or fiddling with cars. Should I attempt this circuit? If not, will anyone be offering to do this at JAE for a small charge, say £50? Also is this circuit something that can be made up before hand? It's something i'd like, but not at the price of b*ggering up my car!
  16. Re. Ummh2 - ask the man himself - brn7y I think he has sold his IS now, actually I think he was selling those wheels a while ago - check the buy and sell archives....
  17. Have you looked at both the interiors - Oakham and Exmoor? I have the black one which personally I prefer. The dash is less of a contrast also. I personally haven't seen anyone with a wooden dash - I think it would be pretty naff myself. Buy an Altezza - you know it makes sense!
  18. This is very good advice from MR Grim. I have had an IS200 SE for 2 1/2 years now and absolutely love it - apart from the lack of performance. I have, with the help of this forum, looked into the tuning options - supercharger kits etc. I have now decided to buy a JDM spec Altezza RS200. It's essentially the same car but with a 4 cylinder 210 bhp engine. It revs to 8000rpm instead of 6000rpm and is obviously a lot quicker. If you're not happy with this level of performance then it is much more tuneable than the 1G-FE 6 cyl engine in the UK IS200/Jap AS200. For more info on the differences check out Kavey's great post in this thread here. Only problem is they are quite hard to find in the UK. However you can use a reputable importer to get one. Hope this helps.
  19. Is that big/expensive job? (obviously not compared to the jobs/money spent on THE MONSTER!) PS. Did you get my PMs re Lexus Ipswich Matt?
  20. Hi, i have exactly the same problem. My car is 2 and 1/2 years old. It started doing it about a year ago and lexus cured it at a service. It's started doing it again now - only in 2nd, 4th and 6th gears. particularly in 6th - irritating. Last time I think they said something had come lose under the gaiter. I have the 40k service in a couple of weeks so hopefully will get fixed again then. I wouldn't worry about it too much - just take it back to the dealer - kick up a stink (demand an IS300 with styling kit as a courtesy car :D ) and they will fix it.
  21. Grim, mines going in for the 40k service in a couple of weeks and I would like to get the drilled pedals fitted. Do you have any clue what they cost and the part number? Oh oops I have to wait for Mr Shipley.
