Well thanks to Cavey for his help and advice. It now appears that this car is being mis-sold. It turns out it is a Japanese AS200 auto. ie. it's the same 153bhp engine as the UK IS200 - what a con. Think I might report the trader to Autotrader..... Thought it was too good to be true..... :(

Hi guys, Went to see this car today - I liked it! But I have a few questions and concerns: It's the 5 speed auto RS200, however the tiptronic steering wheel is missing - replaced with a manual tezza wheel. The removable security device for the Nav is missing - is this a big problem? How much hassle is it to get the radio changed? Any advice muchly appreciated.

Talking of faults I wonder if anyone could give me suggestion/advice about these three things: 1. My gear stick/box rattles in a very annoying manner when in 6th gear. 2. The air coming into the car stinks for ages after the actual a/c has been turned off 3. Something in the sun roof permantly rattles unless the cover is closed. I know I have to take it to the dealer, but are these common problems?

Just rang the guy. Seems to be genuine. He imported it. It has 33k on the clock but the ODO has been converted to MPH now - so that makes something like 19k miles. It's a '99 T. Just realised that perhaps I shouldn't be helping traders to advertise things on here! But it's for the good of you lovely people! Think I might go and check it out tomorrow.

Yes you could.... Incidently I went and crawled all over the one in Lexus Ipswich on Saturday, I refrained from wrecking it with my sticky lollies tho! I would never, ever buy that colour tho even if it was significantly cheaper than the standard models - yuk! No offense Tricky Dicky, just not my taste!

Gutted! I am well jealous! Not sure my company will be too bothered as they give me a car allowance of £6k a year and it's up to me what i do with it. I was honestly so surprised how much I liked it. What a beast - can we resurrect the 'we want an IS430' petition?!

I test drove an IS300 on Saturday from Lexus Ipswich. I was quite sceptical about it as I'm not keen on autos. However I loved it! It was just fantastic! When you boot it, the revs stay above 5000 and it shifts! It feels a bit heavier and a bit more steady on the road than my IS200 (not sure if the suspension is lower?) I love the bodykit and the 18" rims, hell, I even loved the oakham interior! Unfortunately so did my wife and she thinks I should get that now!! I'm a complete convert, my lease runs out later this year and i'm very tempted. Imagine a supercharged IS300! You've got to be looking at 280 horses?! Does anyone do this, or has anyone done it?

Yep. I would agree with the guys above. I simply rang the Service department, explained that my wheels on my X reg IS200 were coroding and refurbished ones were fitted within the week. They actually sent a mobile fitter out to my work to do it. Incidently my old wheels were quite badly curbed - including the spare. I considered asking about paying extra to get the 18" alloys. But sadly bottled it! I felt it might be frowned upon. Overall very impressed with the service. Now to get the brake calipers replaced!!

Funny! :duh: I guess you either love it or hate it. But i always wanted my own batmobile! :D Also you get 4WD, Active Yaw control, 4 wheel steering + a very tuneable engine. I saw a VII this month with over 700 brake!!! Slight drawback is the very scary Group 20 insurance and being lucky to get 20mpg!! Here's dreaming.... oh well i love my lex, just want more power. methinks a small engined transplant......... :D

Oojoni - get a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI - you know it makes sense. A practical 4 door saloon with just enough power - 280 brake, and 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. You'll be laughing. Actually might have to be an Evo IV or V for £12,500. You will be - :D

I had a nasty experience with my pressure washer and my IS200. I was trying to blast a dried-on dead insect off the bonnet, and a nice piece of paint came off - oops. Also if you get too close to stone chips it makes them bigger. My bonnet is so blasted with stone chips now it just looks awful even when cleaned and waxed. I haven't dared using the the touch up paint yet - too afraid i would mess it up. Thoughts anyone?

I've got some dodgy Malaysian tyres called Silverstone - I thought they would be cr*p as they were cheaper than the Goodyears i got last time - but they seem fine at the mo. They are a directional design.

If not, can people say which dealers they have had joy with on this issue and which they haven't? I'm a bit loath to ring Lexus Ipswich as they have just changed my wheels for me!!
