  1. I need to take mine off to find the sensor for the lights, so if I can get round to it this weekend I think I have a manual that may show me. If it does I will let you know.
  2. What car is it? ************************************************************* Have seen it done a few times.
  3. There is a specialist Jap place at Bournemouth Airport. I think Dangerous Brian knows more about them.
  4. I have had both and think that either model is worth having. Look for both and buy the best one you see. I don’t think you’ll regret it. I currently have a MKII but also look longingly at MKI’s when I see them. If I had to replace mine I would have no problem going back to a MKI. Good luck with finding one!
  5. I got mine and its just what I needed, Thanks guys
  6. Not yet. Hoping to have it back in the next day or so. My mate is on his way over there at the moment to have his intake manifold on his Supra changed to a polished one. So he is going to have a word and see how things are. Hopefully I shall know more later @Mat- he's going to see if he can find out that measurement you want also ;) Just read this whole thread, how interesting! I do hope it all comes together so you can drive what sounds like abeast this side of the
  7. Just Like to join the others and say thanks for the card! Merry Christmas to one and all.
  8. I agree with Maneesh, leave the badge off and make them think!
  9. I too suffered with this problem, what I found before I had the whole unit replaced was that the warning noise comes from a unit just under the dash at its very easy to disconnect the annoying :tsktsk:
  10. A couple of questions:- Where is it? How do you test it? Can you change it?
  11. It was manually worked out - I used to put it in a spreadsheet - sad but true. I did check the computer and on very long journeys - a couple of full tankers up and down to Scotland - and it was spot on. It does seem to lose the plot a bit with the little stuff in between and all the short journeys. I'm a lot more relaxed about things now I'm older ;) so I'm happy with what the computer tells me... I do around 76 miles a day on motorway/dualcarriage ways with my GS MK2 and I am lucky to get 330miles from a tank. I am a little 'heavy footed'
  12. D.M.D.?http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...=0&p=359703 I don't think DMD are trading any more, the web site is "offline": http://www.dmdwheelrefurb.co.uk/ and the number is out of service. I spoke to Superlite Wheels, they are a little more expensive at £47 per wheel on a 5-7 day service but seem helpful & knowledgable (they are wheel manufacturers primarily). Anyway, am trusting them with the wheels off of the Supra next week (they need doing too!) and if all goes well will have the Lexus wheels done the week after. I'll report back if anyone is interested?? Thanks for all the comments & I think I'll stick with the standard 17". BTW - the bloke at Superlite had a comment that's worth considering if you're refurbing. He mentioned that lots of companies are doing "powder coating" on wheel refurbs, this apparently needs to be baked at 280 degrees C. Apparently this alters the original "heat treatment" that the wheels would have had in the factory, leaving them brittle. Superlite use a different process (something enameling?) and then a resin(?) laquer. Might be a question worth looking into if/when you get your wheels refurbed. I have just had a set of standard GS MKII wheels refurbed. Peterborough based company that collects and delivers. I have a spare set of 5 wheels with tyres that are for sale (4 centre caps). I bought these to drive round on while i had my set done. If you're interested drop me note. A set with tyres does fit in a GS so could meet. 13. In the service history check to see if the brake/abs/traction control unit has been changed as these seem to be a common fault thats not that cheap
  14. Tuesday 4th October, car wasn't ready yesterday but will be today I was told. We wait and see. ← Well I just checked Sky news and BBC News 24 no reports of blood shed in Bournmouth Sooooooooooooooooooo is it done ? ← Picked my car up last night, sweet so sweet don't realise how much I missed it. This morning the brake, ABS, VSC etc lights all came on along with a high pitched whistle! Returned it to the dealer who checked it out and think its the hydraulic pump! Is this because it has been unused for 7 weeks? Anyone got any ideas what I can do now?
  15. Tuesday 4th October, car wasn't ready yesterday but will be today I was told. We wait and see.
  16. Lexus GB and the dealership are aware! The worst thing is that I still dont think I will get the car back on Monday!
  17. The saga continues.... On doing the compression test cyclnder 6 now has no compression, further tests reveal 2 bent valves on cyclinder. These never showed up before so was it the dealer when refitting or the engineering company when they did there bit? In theory my car will be ready next Monday 3rd October. I was thinking of running a sweepstake to see if anyone can guess the right day or month or maybe year?
  18. If anyone is still interested in this topic it is nearly 7 weeks now and I dont have a car, even after the assurance that my car would be ready today as they were 99.9% certain that it would work, I have to phone them. Just to recap, the head went away to have the valve's reseated and skimmed. The head returned on the 19th. I was told on the 19th that it would be ready by the end of the week. I went to the dealership on the Friday and they hadn't even started it. After the previous diagnostics I insisted they do a compression test before putting it all back together. I once again phone the dealer (perhaps they are not allowed to dial out) only to be told cylinder 6 has no compression. Is there a prize for a car thats been at the dealership for the longest? Can anyone beat this?
  19. I last heard from the dealer on Thursday 8th September, when a message was left on my phone saying that only 2 valves create a vacuum (interesting) and that they were ordering a gasket set! He then went on to say that he wouldn't be able to speak to me as he had a meeting to go to, but would speak to me tomorrow (9th September). I have been away for a week now and return to no news from the dealer! No e-mail (I was asked for my e-mail address as that would be easier and I even sent one to the dealership so that they didnt have any problems with the spelling). This is begining to be beyond a joke! The search for perfection is obviously very tricky.
  20. The cyclinder boring machine cant be used in place on my engine!! I wonder what sort of engine it would need? The Lexus dealer has given the head to a third party company (the one that was going to do the rebore) so that they can pressure test on the bench as that is more acurate.
  21. The latest situation is that cylinder 3 or it could be 4 has a pourous lining and they may need to re-bore (surely that cant cure it) or it will need new linings! All in all it would be better to have a new small block (apparently these are only £8k). The valves are not bent as previously thought. I cant believe that 1 cylinder down would stop a 6 cylinder engine from firing! Help!
