  1. When is the dead line for booking or confirming this trip? I may be getting my hands on a few quid to pay off some debts soon so I might be able to make it but I won't know for a month or so yet at least. I know I can deffo make the second trip but I wouldn't mind doing 2 trips!!!!
  2. I have a gearbox hear that you can have for much less than £900!!!
  3. The only reason the pipe is put back into the intake after the catch can is to comply with emissions etc etc. Factory cars can not be seen to have any smoke or oil vapours coming from any car unless it is exiting through the exhaust. This is why the vapours are recirculated back into the engine so that when the emissions test is done, that all the gases from the car are present. The same reason a screamer pipe on an external wastegate should not pass MOT as it is seen to be letting the exhaust gases bypass the exhaust and hence not giving a true emissions reading, even though the wastegate only opens on full boost. In reality you can fit the can if you want and just vent it off to the atmosphere with no probs. Thats how mine is fitted as I didn't want it re-routed into the intake. Some people even just fit the small breather filters with nothing else but I expect they would get clogged up over time and eventually block the breather outlet.
  4. I also came across the oil problem you mentioned when changing the plugs in an old BMW 520i. All 6 holes were filled about 2-3" of oil. The only way I could see these holes filling with oil was through the rocker cover gasket although it showed no obvious signs of leakage. If I were you I would get it checked out or even fit a new gasket anyway just to be sure.
  5. They aren't really needed. They are just to catch any oil in the form of fumes coming from your engine block so you don't have oil going back into your inlet. The amount of oil is so minimal it is not even noticable.
  6. Yeah I did a check before with a random date like the 1st of april just to get a rough price and it also told me there was no rooms available
  7. Damn it I can't bare to look at this thread any longer LOL :shutit: Every time I see another pic I get more amazed at the amount and quality of work in this project. Absolutely outstanding and they way all cars SHOULD be built!!!!
  8. I would expect that they will just need to have power to them as all the functions prob work internally on the seats. I was contemplating changing my two front seats for racing buckets but I am debating it at the minute. I only have the electric driver seat and the passenger one is manual but I do have integrated TV screens in both headrests that also have their own infrared headphones.
  9. I wouldn't be sure I could make the easter trip myself as I am usually still counting the pennies from valentines day and the missus birthday at the end of Feb. I will keep an eye on this thread though for when the bookings and prices are available.....you never know I might bring her to germany on a shopping trip for her birthday LOL Damn it.. also forgot that I have to be at a wedding in Vegas around that time too so that could be the nail in the coffin.
  10. Any ideas of dates yet or even a rough idea?? Depending on how early this is going to be next year I may be better off waiting until the second trip.
  11. I remember speaking to my cousin about doing this trip. He is in the armed forces and is currently posted in Germany for 2 years. He was also posted there a while back for a few years and he regularly takes his ZX6r back and forth fromhere to germany. Anyway, when I asked him about the best way to get there he said it would deffo be by getting the ferry from belfast to stranrar, travelling across scotland and getting another ferry straight into holland. then it's one trip right into germany. O know that would prob suit me better since I would be landing in Scotland of the first ferry but have any of you ever considered that route. It is apparently a lot shorter and quicker.
  12. Ahh right I was a bit slow with the typing there LOL. Cheers
  13. I have been wanting to go to the ring for a while now but have not got round to it yet. Barrie I just had a search through some threads in the archive there but I can't see any full trip costs if you know what I mean. Just people getting quotes for ferries and stuff. I would be interested in knowing the average all in cost of going to the ring. I know Gordon (GRiM) has been asking me about going too so I would expect he would be up for it next year. If anyone can post up some avreage costs that would be a great help to myself and I am sure some others.
  14. the main problem with N/A tuning is that once you have reached a certain level and spent quite a bit of money getting there then you can go no further. At least if you buy the sc'er or a turbo then you can always rebuild your engine in the future and raise the boost etc etc. you have many more options with forced induction than N/A. Although some people simply just prefer the N/A route. suppose personal opinion has a lot to do with it to.
  15. A lot of head work for a start mate. also forged internals to save weight on moving engine parts. It is very expensive to get big N/A power.
  16. my current IS200 sport has the wide angle lens you are talking about but my old IS200 se had just a standard mirror so they must be available.
  17. Appreciate a general release of data gathered over years would be commercial suicide. Although i have no problems assisting those with a modified car like yourself. What type of calibration are you looking for? road/trials/track/drift.... and so on. Yeah I thought that may have been the case and yes I understand completely. I don't want to go off topic here so I will drop you a PM mate.
  18. Tony, Would it be possible to get some settings from you for various setups from your experience of working on the IS? The reason I ask is that I am now getting my own car on the road and although I would love to have you setup the geo on mine, I don't think I could warrant the price of the boat trip from belfast and back just to get my setup tuned. I know a place who can dial in the adjustments but I doubt they would have the knowledge to create their own calibration. Another factor on my car is that it has the 3.0l supra TT engine which adds weight to the front but I suspect the settings from an IS300 would suit this better???
  19. Said it before and I'll say it again.... Stunning!! This is a top quality build with nothing left untouched I suspect. The suspension and chassis strengthening work are unbelievable and by the looks of it have been perfectly done. I have recieved many nice compliments for the work I have done myself on my own engine conversion but it is not even in the same league as this or anywhere near it!! Hats off to you man. Jealousy is the only emotion I bring myself to feel right now LOL. Also, it is good to see a full interior going back in which would suggest that this car may still be used as somewhat of a daily driver every so often????
  20. Yeah Dan is right there. I made it myself. I think Mat was selling his twin exit system though.
  21. The car is actually overheating at the minute but only due to some cooling issues. for eg; one of my spal fans was wired up in reverse so was operating in reverse lol. easily sorted though. The Spoiler will be going on. Will the Spoiler be like the one thats on the Monster? I am going to fit removable brackets for the number plate so I can have it on for daily driving but take it off for shows and trackdays etc etc. I don't like the look of the number plate on the front. The spoiler is a custom job. It is basically the TRD lip spoiler but it has been extended further out and it also flicks up slightly too so that it looks somewhat purposeful now instead of just a styling point. As for the grill, I know that it needs attention mainly due to the mesh that was used. It is only a very fine light mesh as thats all I could get at short notice. I will be fitting some denser black mesh asap to sort that prob. The TRD rear lip does look to high in that photo compared to the side skirt but it doesn't give that effect in the flesh. The rear is supposed to be slightly higher than the side anyway. And yeah it is just my dodgy photo taking that makes the front look lob sided LOL. The whole kit was done by a guy over called Chris Gaw. He does a fantastic job and spends a lot of time getting it right. There are 1 or 2 tiny little insignificant flaws that were noticed before the kit was fitted but I would struggle to find them again now. The intercooler will be left open to maximise airflow mate. I also need new headlights as the current ones have been split apart a few times are are only fit for the bin now. I have been debating with myself whether or not to re-fit the eyebrows to the new light but if I do they will be carbon eyebrows and not just painted. Anyway, Thanks for all the comments guys, good and bad. I will post more pics when I get the spoiler on.
  22. Sorry, I'm in agreement here. Bumper spoils the car completely. Looks like it's got a big gaping mouth at the front - like one of those bottom feeder fish. Eww! Just my opinion As long as you're happy, that's the main thing. Keith All comments welcome but the whole idea of the custom bumper is to have a large intake for the intercooler. The more air to the cooler the better. But then i suppose it can't be to everyones taste.
  23. I have made a custom crash bar that now sits behind the bumper and infront of the intercooler. Fair comment Fluff. Thanks for being honest. I was going for the simple uncomplicated look if you know what I mean.
  24. Yeah I have another oil pump in my garage from another TT engine I bought that was blown up so I will fit that if the seal goes again. It's more the hassle of the job as I suspect the engine has to come out to do that.
  25. I thought I would revive this thread seeing as I have got my car back again after a long 4 month wait. It was away getting some bodywork done and I have started a new thread with pics of the bodywork here as it is a different subject to the engine swap... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=44549 As for the engine itself I have realised a couple of things. First of all is that my external wastegate was not operating correctly. It was not fully closing when off boost and was letting exhaust gases escape from the manifold when it should have been fully sealed closed. This was making the car very very laggy and it was taking a lifetime to get to full boost. I have since stripped the wastegate and found a small piece of debris was wedged in the valve not allowing it to close. That is one problem sorted. The second problem is yet to show it's face I suspect. After blowing the front crankshaft oil seal while mapping I went onto mkivsupra.net forum to see if there was a specific reason for this. What I found was a whole topic dedicated to this problem. It seem there have been a few oil seal failures on modded TT supras and it is also apparent that if your engine suffers from this problem it can be quite persistent in blowing seals After an investigation by one of the members it has been deemed that the problem occurs because of fuel contamination in the oil and/or dirt or debris in the oil. It is the fuel/dirt/debris in the oil that enters the oil pump and pretty much destroys the oil pump. This in turn causes excess oil to escape the pump under pressure and then it gets drained away into the sump through the drainage hole which is specifically designed for this. The only problem is that the drainage hole is nowhere near big enough to cope with the increasing amount of oil and the only other place for the oil to go is through the crankshaft oil seal. I have since replaced my oil seal and the car is driving fine although I have not driven it hard until I am getting it mapped. My worry is that my oil seal will fail again as the damage is now already done to the oil pump. I just have to wait and see Anyway, I should be getting some more mapping done this week sometime so I will keep you guys posted as usual.
