  1. It is .60 A/R. The exhaust housing is much bigger than the compressor housing. Should still get 500bhp fairly easily though.
  2. Latest update guys. I have made up a small support bracket for the manifold that supports it from underneath. Just two small rods that bolt up to the engine mount. I didn't want to have brackets on top of the manifold as it looks bad IMO. This support is out of sight. I also finished heat wrapping the manifold and this time I used some laytex gloves :D . I have finished my downpipe and simply need to weld on a flexible flange and then start on the rest of the exhaust. I have also fitted the engine, gearbox, prop shaft and gear shifter for the last time. they are now staying there. I just have some tidying up of wires to do and to fit the radiator, viscious fan and I am waiting on a fan cowling coming to me also. It is a nice feeling being on the home stretch but also a nerve racking one
  3. I have one of these front bumpers on the way which was my crimbo pressie! I for some reason seem to be imune to hangovers most of the time!!!

  6. I know how you feel Adie, the same thing happened to me. I finished the turbo build and then had to send the turbo back to the states for a rebuild under warranty. They took 4 months to return my turbo and when i finally recieved it, it took another 2 weeks to get the car running again. I had new injectors fitted that were leaking and because i had to remove the fuel rail a few times I ended up snapping the aluminium anodised banjo bolt for the fuel line. I ended up finding a bolt with the correct thread and drilling it out as a temporary fix LOL. Don't worry mate it will be worth it when it is all sorted.

  8. Ahh...didn't realise you were going single with the exhaust mate or I would have. I have already got the bits for doing mine already unfortunately Sent you a text yesterday mate. anyway it was 34mm inner diameter and 35mm outer diameter put I could only measure it with a tape measure. Oh and those measurements are for the metal water inlet pipe on the engine.
  9. Started my down pipe from the turbo. I can now remove the engine for th last time to make the small brace for the manifold and do some other small jobs before fitting the engine for good. I have decided to go ahead and make up a twin exit exhaust system. i was toying with the idea but though I would have to in order to do the engine swap justice :D The part I was most concerned about was fabricating the section of exhaust to split the single 3" pipe into 2 x 2.5" pipes. I had heard that it can be a night mare to do. This is the section of 3" pipe that I cut angles out of. After a lot of trimming and squeezing etc etc of pipes I managed to get them to match up fairly well....at least I thought I did. I am no welder, I just bought a welder to do this project after trying it out on a friends welder. The main problem after considering all the curves and angles that need to be right is the fact that I am joining two pieces of pipe that are 1/2" smaller in diameter to the one single piece The welds look quite messy but as i underestimated how precise the joins needed to be i had to fill a lot of gaps and holes with weld. This is prob the only time anyone will ver see it though so I'm not that worried
  10. Yes mate as Mat says, get it wrapped up tight. I am also worried about my manifold cracking under the weight of the turbo etc when it is red hot which is why I am fitting some strengthening braces from underneath to hold the manifold steady. A couple of small sections of stainless rod from an engine mount bolt to the underside of the manifold should do nicely. I am also heat wrapping most of the exhaust aswell.
  11. Latest update.... I finally recieved my stainless steel welding wire so I can now start into the exhaust side of things. First up I had to modify the inlet pipe for the wastegate from the manifold. As shown previously when the wastegate was fitted the outlet from the wastegate was pointing directly at the steering knuckle joint. I have had to extend the inlet pipe coming from the manifold so that the outlet now sits below the steering joint. I also had to bend and twist the pipe to get the wastegate at the correct angle. Please forgive the dodgy looking welding as I had to fill out the pipe to 2" instead of 1.5". I have also started to heat wrap the manifold to keep things as cool as possible in the engine bay. here it is half complete as i need to get some more stainless cable ties to do the rest. This is a nightmare of a job as the wrap is primarily made of fibreglass so it makes you itch all over!!! The wrap I have used is also graphite impregnated so my hand were black aswell when I was done. I am still itchy now Here is the manifold with the wastegate in its new position couple of pics of the manifold with heat wrap in the engine bay Here are a few pics of the new wastegate pipe that now clears the steering joint I am starting on the downpipe next before I finally fit the engine for the last time. update to follow.

  13. very nice Adie, that is really coming together now. That is not a bad idea about the throttle body. I may adapt that idea to the supra lump as I don't need the bulky traction control part. Just a thought but would you not think of adding some more red to break the blue up a bit?? You must be very close to mapping time now;-)
  14. The evo would not compare to the skyline so i would take the evo out of the equasion altogether. Then you just have to ask yourself if you prefer a bit more luxury, bigger car, cruising car etc etc or would you rather go to track days, drags and not mind the extra noise a drivability of the skyline? Don't buy an evo!!!!

  16. With baby Jay now occupying most of my time the progress with the ISupra over the last month has been slow. Although I ain't complaining as he is a little star :D I mean just have a look :winky: I have had to re-locate my Greddy oil catch tank from it's previous position at the rear of the engine bay. It now sits nicely to allow for the induction pipe from the turbo. I have also had to make up a custom crash bar to fit over the intercooler. Just used some 5mm thick flat bar and I have braced it from behind to stop any flexing. It protrudes about 15-20mm futher out that the intercooler which should give ample room for the bumper.
  17. I had the Helix performance clutch as fitted by steveaudiox with the SC'er and the turbo and it never gave any slippage at all. If it is any help.
  18. That would be brilliant mate!! I have been looking for 1mm spacers and the smallest I can find is 3mm. The problem is that I already had about 2-3mm shaved of the inside of the wheels to slightly increase the offest as they were catching the arches. 1.5mm would prob be perfect. Let me know if this is ok buddy ;-)
  19. The ones that Mat made up. I bought them from him. UK spec supra discs with modified LS400 4pot calipers. I would comment on how they are compared to standard but the furthest my car has been is rolling in and out of my garage LOL

Finally remembered to take a pic of the brakes fitted to the car Although it doesn't show it that well, the 3rd pic shows the nearly non-existent gap between the caliper and the back of the spokes of the wheel. I can just slide a single sheet of paper between them and no more LOL I recieved my new intercooler and got straight down to fitting it. The position it is in may be slightly adjusted depending on other factors but one thing is for sure....my standard bumper WILL NOT fit over this cooler The cooler is an extra 25mm thicker than my old one and also a lot longer. Some may have seen my post about needing a new front bumper, and here is the reason why. This is the bumper set onto the car and fixed with the plastic plugs between the headlights. You can see how much "more" I would need to take off the bumper to get it fitted. It would be easier just cutting away a whole section around the cooler which obviously isn't going to happen

  23. I have just recieved my new intercooler that I am using for the 2jz conversion. i used to think my old intercooler was big but this thing is ridiculously huge!!!! I will try but I think there is very little chance of me being able to squeeze it behind my standard bumper as it is an extra 25mm thicker than the old intercooler and I have already trimmed my bumper to accomodate that. If i take anymore off the bumper it will ruin the whole look of the front end. I had in mind something like this, the C-one front bumper. I really like this bumper but i am having a bit of trouble sourcing it. I would also prefer a copy of the bumper as the original is far too expensive. I am open to any suggestions :winky:
