  1. Don't bother putting me down for the food as I can't confirm for deffo that I will be there but I should be starting the car tomorrow night. I can always pick up some food on the way. Does anyone have a contact number that I could ring on that morning for directions to halfords. I can make it to the M50 ok but I don't think my satnav covers the south.
  2. I read on another forum somewhere although can't remember where that the ring has banned all non-germans from using it this year. something to do with restrictions or surface wear or something. can't remember exactly though. may be worth googling before you guys organise. I would love to go but will prob wait untill later in the year.
  3. Nice fella, does it sounds like a supra at all ? striaght 6 turbo with a big 3 inch system, thought they might sound similar Should sound pretty similar. Have you heard or seen the vids of my car with the turbo Elliot?? That is as you know, a straight through 2.5" pipe from front to back and it sounds similar to the supra although not as deep of a note. Can't believe you are still getting setbacks with this Adie although you are on the home stretch now :winky: Can't wait to see what figures etc etc and vids you get!!!!!!!
  4. Just waiting on a few small parts before I can get the engine ticking over hopefully. so I will confirm with you guys if i am gonna make it very soon.
  5. pretty much anywhere. you can make your own earthing point. Just make sure you have good metal to metal contact and it is not somewhere that will rust quickly.
  6. You need to use high temp silicon sealant for the sump mate. not sure about the rocker cover. some have gaskets, the supra on has rubber seals that fit in place etc etc. You will know when you get it off though. The return line is not difficult to do. You just need to get the right fittings.
  7. I hopefully should deffo be able to make it to this but I will know better when I get the engine turned over for the first time which should be next week hopefully!!!!
  8. I don't want to speak out of turn or offend anyone here but I have heard a few reports about this guy in westward fiddling with figures and droppping off full throttle on power runs. I know that if I make it I will be keeping an eye on his right foot. Could be all hear say though as you hear this kind of thing all the time????
  9. I heard that a gradual increase in diameter is better. Although I don't see how that could be. I would have thought that the less air space you had to fill in your intercooler system then the quicker you will get boost. It could well be a better idea to do it as you have said then. Any intercooler/ boost wizards that could tell me what is the best way to go about this????
  10. Yeah mate i seen that on ebay and e-mailed the person to see if they could supply me with the specific bends that I need. I explained that I was doing my intercooler piping in 3 different diameters and that I would have to buy 3 of his kits and prob still would have all the right parts and he just said he couldn't supply the parts needed. I think he was expecting me to go ahead and buy the 3 kits I wanna gradually increase the diameter of piping from the turbo to the inlet of the intercooler. Partly due to lack of space but mostly because it should gain boost quicker that way. I will be going from 2" diameter from the turbo, then into 2.5" diameter just before the intercooler inlet and then it will go to 3" diameter at the intercooler inlet and will be 3" all the way to the intake manifold.
  11. Not got much done with this the whole of January but I decided I had to get a move on and finish the project. Here is what I have been doing the last couple of nights I finished my exhaust finally. Here is the down pipe with the heat wrap on and finally fitted I have some pics of the full exhaust finished and heat wrapped before I fitted it to the car but they are on another camera at the minute so I will post them later. As mentioned before I had to cut away a section of the spare wheel well to allow me to position the second box at an angle instead of being straight on. Apart from giving better flow due to less bends in the exhaust I wanted it like this because I personally think it looks a lot better. Here are a couple of dark pictures as it was 1am when I finished it.... And a couple of day light pics... I also made up an air intake so I could fit my air filter And here is an engine bay pic with everything but the intercooler pipe on the intake manifold present.. I have been trying to source some aluminium bends to do my intercooler piping but I have only been messed about by the few people who can supply them. As i want the car finished asap I am going to make the intercooler piping from stainless steel for now. There are no real disadvantages to this apart from an extra bit of weight but the difference is not really that much. I will probably re-make it all with alu in the near future. Unfortunately I am still awaiting my new front bumper from the states but it should be here any time now. Once the intercooler piping is complete I will start to concentrate on getting the car running incase there are any teething probs when we turn over the engine for the first time Anyway updates will follow as usual......
  12. I had a UK crx vtec before I bought the lex. Superb little car, I loved it. Reg was J22 CRX. celestial blue one. Think I have a couple of pics of it here somewhere..... Ahh here we go. not great quality pics though
  13. Good news mate, get that turbo fitted asap as it is a shame not to be enjoying it at the minute. That seems like a good price even for a quote over there. A 20 year old over in N.I would be paying that for a 1.6 corsa with no mods!!!!!
  14. Elliot, Your wastegate is set to 0.4 bar. It will run fine at that but if you wanna increase the boost to 0.5 bar then you will need to buy a boost controller. Just dont buy a cheap mechanical one. Buy a proper one to get better results.
  15. lol...someone has been telling fibbs!!
  16. Yeah Dizz thats my car alright. Jonny who owns AI. Autosport is the guy who fitted and mapped the Autronic ECU to my car. He asked me if he could use that video clip on his site. :D Sorry you are mistaken there buddy. The car has never been up for sale since I bought it and has most deffo not been back to the mainland either. Must be another car your thinking of. The banging and popping is the antilag which is a feature of the ECU.
  17. nissan mazda most jap fitments so long as they are 5 x 114.3 PCD and have the correct offset. Spacers can also be used to get the right offset for some wheels.
  18. If you fit the camcon first then the zorst you would be better getting the camcon re-mapped again after fitting the zorst. I would do zorst first so the camcon when later fitted will only have to be mapped once. Anyway back on topic.... we still don't know what this throttle mod is?????
  19. will be fine if you have the correct tyre pressure.
  20. I heard the later spec ones were only £90 each from the dealers????
  21. At a guess it would be an electronic mod. There is a throttle cable fitted as standard but only as a back up. When you disconnect the fly by wire motor the EM light comes on as well as the TRC light and the car doesn't run correctly at all. Reason being that all the idle control etc etc is all incorporated in the throttle control motor. If it is disconnected the ECU doesn't know what position the throttle is at so doesn't know what fuel etc to flow, and hence the car becomes very lumpy and hesitant and is very difficult and unsafe to drive. Infact nearly impossible to drive. For this reason the throttle control motor must stay connected so this mod that Dave says exists would have to be electronic. Somthing to sharpen the reaction of the throttle motor or even to bring it into "real time operation"...... I had this problem when I turbo'd the IS as the Autronic ECU doesn't work with electronic throttle control. As I had a standalone ECU we were able to do away with the ETC and just use the throttle cable which meant no delay in throttle!!!
  22. Haven't seen you post here in a long while buddy. If I am going we could probably do a kinda mini convoy type arrangement if it suits of course. BTW...seen your motor the other day and it still looks as smart as ever mate. Not looking to sell it yet then LOL
  23. OOhhhh very technical!!! LOL But good to know these little facts.
  24. I didn't get much done to the car over the christmas period as expected but I have recieved my fan cowling for the viscious fan. Sourced from a TT supra that a guy was breaking on ebay. Although I don't have any pics I had some modifications to do to the fan cowling. It originally had two holes, one for the viscious fan and one for the aircon fan. As I didn't fit the aircon pump I needed to cover up the second hole which I did with a section of aluminium plate simply cut to fit and screwed over the hole. The mounting points on the IS radiator are different than the supra rad too so I used large washers to clamp the housing onto the rad. A few bits needed trimming to allow the cowling to sit fush with the radiator. Here is a pic of the fan cowling in place I had to cut out a small section to allow for the top rad pipe which was also previously shortened. Each of the fan blades as Matt mentioned to me before needed trimming down. This was because the fan cowling is now positioned closer to the engine as the IS engine bay is not as long as the supra one and everything is closer together. here are a couple of pics taken of the trimmed blades in place behind the cowling. I have also made up the exhaust section from the down pipe back to about the rear diff where the exhaust splits into 2 x 2.5" pipes. This is for the twin exit exhaust. I have welded in a flex to the down pipe and am just waiting on a flange coming in the post to join the two exhaust sections. As I want the two back boxes to exit the car at a slight angle similar to the HKS dragger and prolex kazama I will need to do some more mods to the spare wheel well. It does not allow room for the second exhaust box to be mounted at an angle so I will have to cut out a piece from the passenger side of the wheel well to make some room. I will then weld in another plate section to seal up the boot etc. Pics to follow as usual :D
  25. get it lowered - its too high just like mine was I've not got the money at the mo. I would like a supercharger first.... I'd like to do performance before i do anymore on the looks.... get it lowered first and get a set of TRD anti roll bars too. They are both performance mods and not just for looks. Many would say it is essential to sort suspension before SC'ing etc. Oh and grill deffo looks better. :winky:
