  1. Found quite a few company's that sell powerchips but they dont list lexus at all...it's either too new for them to show or it's another company called powerchips!
  2. Yep...think i'll go for the eibach...Lowering isnt what im really interested in as usually when you have more than two people in the car the tyres start rubbing on the arches...so from previous experience this doesnt happen!! Thanxs all of you for your invaluable feedback!!
  3. Hmmm...Think I might stick with the devil I know then ,but have they helped the handling of your cars??
  4. Hi all, Wondering if any of you can advise me on what lowering springs I should go for. On previous cars I have always gone for Eibach lowering springs & they have always transformed the road holding of the car & also kept a pretty smooth ride, but cant help thinking that maybe I should go for the TTE springs instead....
  5. Im on about 12K now myself & the tyres im using are the bridgestone potenza's. Although wear is fairly good, my results differ....My front tyres have worn about 1-2m, but my rear tyres are half worn! So ive just had them rotated. In my last IS200 I decided to put yokahama tyres on because from previous expereince they have been outstanding on previous cars, no matter what weather conditions, but because they are made of a softer compound they do wear out pretty quick! But they seemed to make little difference to the roadholding on the IS, so a testament to the road holding of the car!! Ive just stuck with the bridgestone's they seem an all round good tyre!
  6. Ive been thinking in investing in one of these...but it seems like every time you buy one..a few months later they bring out a new speed trap that the gizmo wont detect..Ive got a lot of friends who have bought them & rely on them so much that they end up getting badly done for speeding. I use my own method: I use the force!
  7. I use wireless networking too...Your right its grreeeeeat:tumble:
  8. Hey I found an auto dismantlers the other day which I picked up the whole of the sat nav..centre console with screen + ecu for £300 + Vat....give them a ring they specialise in jap cars: International Car Spares Tel: 01616332221 Or you can crack a couple of eggs in it
  9. Great!!! Thats brightened up my morning!
  10. Just to let you all know....I have the prob & rang head office & seriously complained....I really went to town about it & I mean I went to town on it!!! They are quite happy to change the synchro rings but no way on earth are they changing my box...I repeatedly phoned saying that I was really unhappy about it...& the answer was 'Your still not getting a new gear box' :( Ive settled on getting the synchro rings changed & they said they have noted my dissatisfaction & if the problem reocours after my 3yr warranty has finished then the will fix it again! It's the best I could get...but it's something!
  11. When i had my first IS I kerbed every alloy within 2 wk's... Doh!! My local dealer called out some guy who came out repaired them (& they really looked liked brand new!) but stung me £35 per wheel!!! I think you can get them done pretty much anywhere so dont stress too much about it:smilegrin: Ive had my second IS about 8 months now & just the other day was thinking 'I havent kerbed these alloys once...great must be getting used to the high kerbs! Guess what?.... The next day my little girl who was sitting in the back decided to throw her anyway up cup at me...knocked me on the back of the head & I steered to the left & smacked my left wheel on the kerb at about 40Mph resulting in an alloy which is badly kerbed all the way round!!!! Who cares going to get some 19" wheels anyway....it's a good exuse for it
  12. Apparently not!!! My car came without sat nav so I bought an aftermarket system. As there is pretty much nowhere to install the screen without it getting in the way I tracked down a S/H centre console unit with the screen in it from a breakers yard. I tried to get this wired up to my system but i was told by many places that it wouldnt be compatible with anything but the lexus navigator + was told by another place that was a bit more knowledgeable on lexus products that the screen has a 'lockout' feature which would disable the screen if anything but the lexus navigtor signal was inputted to it!! This could be a load of rubbish.....but thats what ive been told!!
  13. Well I will definatly be there....even if i do only live about 50 miles away! Hope I can meet some of you there!:P
  14. Your doing a tob job! Keep up the good work.....cant be easy for you!! Im sure I speak for all of us when I say it is much appreciated! Cheers Vic
  15. Hey thats funny!!! went to my local wheel man the other day & asked him what 18" wheels he had for an IS & he said 'radius R6!' He didnt have have a pic so ive been waiting to see what they look like. I think they are nice but look a bit like the standard wheel...so im prob going to go for something else. found a great place online think its called the wheel upgrade or something..here's the link http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_garage/Whe...0&autoYear=2001 & you can actually see the wheels on the car & pick your car colour too!! Great fun when youve nothing else to do
  16. HEY that is MY Car!!!! & what is that jap guy doing in it???? *** damn....Id only just got it valeted too:smilegrin::smilegrin: Seriously...I like it...I like it Nice one george..where did you find it?? vic
  17. Your def going for the best on resale value with the sport...basicly because its the only sporty one in the is range...its got the drilled pedals, lsd, gangster style tinted back windows etc.... If you look second hand auto's are v easy to find & always sell cheaper at dealers cos they are harder to shift...I know I had one! It was great for about six months then i got really bored of the performance...when i tried to sell it i didnt get a sniff & ended part ex'ing it losing about 5K in six months for what i paid for it! My dealer has still got it on his forecourt & its mint!! Ive asked about on my my sport through various dealers & im looking at only about a 1K loss on selling it now...which isnt too bad!!! Considering anyway! If you want sat nav...get aftermarket one..then you can take it out & put it in your next car...so no loss..unlike a body kit!
  18. I think there is something about headlight eyebrows that really set off a kit on an IS. Every kit that ive seen that looks 'the dogs' has got some on it. But your right mat..that bumper really is cool.
  19. Id say that it would be really touch & go on the performance increase...may even get worse without them!!!! all works on backpressure etc.......so you would be taking a risk. I would either just stick to the back box or wait til someone else has tried it!:)
  20. Ive run in quite a few cars & have been told so many different ways of doing it!! Out of experience the best way....definatley is just to drive the car normally...Not thrash it but just normal through the gears keeping the engine as free revving as possible. If you keep sticking to a certain speed then the engine develops a flat spot. But saying that...pretty much all of engines nowadays dont really need running in.
  21. Hi guys Im 33, got banned for 6months for speeding about 4 yrs ago , full no claims, £250 excess, Girlfriend to drive too, its a GOOD policy & I pay £550 per year in monthly instalments!! Thats with the priviledge.
  22. Just out of interest.....anybody know how easy it is to change the 6pot lump in the uk models to maybe something thats in one of the imports???
  23. Cheers guys.....that has been some help! Im Trying to find out if the screen that comes with the navigator is compatible with a different navigation system. I bought a vdo navigation system as my car didnt have one when i got it & ive just managed to pick up the original centre console bit...which has come with the screen....so wondering if they can work together or not...thanx again
  24. My local dealer has got a kitted up red Is200 as a demo car & it looks really good! But Ive got to say yellow for sure!!! Especially if its going to look like that!
