  1. Mostly... I tried to go below 60mph in sixth yesterday and found that it wasn't really viable - the thrum and vibration kick back in; certainly couldn't get 50 mph :( Economy wise: * around town - never seen it go below 35 mpg since the mod. * motorway with a heavy foot - 42 mpg+ * motoroway with a light foot (legal speeds) - 45 - 50mpg easy
  2. What colour you got. Mine's black and the white chips really show up; I've given up worrying about it now.
  3. I was told that it was only a problem on Jan-Mar IS220d non-sport model
  4. Jamboo, a good indication is if you can do 60 - 65 mph in sixth gear and still accelerate when you press the pedal - not fast mind you, but you get acceleration. I caught myself going up a hill the other day in 6th gear at 60 mph, not something I could possibly have done prior to the mod. Other changes I've noticed: * I can feel the turbo kick in when I accelerate hard in second/third; although it doesn't last long it's a positive surge of power. * In sixth at 65 mph I'm getting about 47-50 mpg - it doesn't last long because I'm a bit impatient, but I've tried it a few times and been really surprised. * Sixth gear/65 mph has much less vibration, especially the mirror - you can now work out whether the car behind is being driven by a male/female B) As I said on my other post, Lexus GB are well aware of the problem and the solution that Poole have offered (not just to me). Hopefully you'll hear some positive news soon.
  5. Wow! Are these interchangeable like the Xbox 360 faceplates :D
  6. I had all the injectors swapped out and the difference is night and day. I'm now happy that I bought the car which was advertised on the web site and it drives and feels like a Lexus should.
  7. I've just spoken to Lexus Poole and I had ALL my injectors swapped out and my case was not unique. The whole issue about the injectors is now with Lexus GB. I can't say any more other than watch this space and keep in contact with your Lexus dealer. Not all Lexus dealers are equal; some are clearly better than others when it comes to customer satisfaction - well done Lexus Poole ;)
  8. I have had the injector mod and was told by my dealer that it ONLY is required for early IS220ds - mine is Jan 06. Prior to the mod I was only getting mid 30s on a motorway run when other IS220d owners were getting mid 40s. I also couldn't use 6th gear at anything less than 75 mph. Since then I'm in the mid 40 camp and can comfortably use 6th gear at 60 - 65 mph; there still isn't much acceleration in this gear at this speed, but the engine no longer labours or harshly vibrates.
  9. Now I know where all my bits of sandwich, pizza, crisps etc end up I'm not convinced either, tried for 60 miles today to get some air blowing through them, gave in and used the air con. The passenger one always works though
  10. How did you say it ... were there any inflections or accent, loud or soft :D Maybe Lexus can provide a phonetic dictionary for their Sat Nav system.
  11. I think the new spec (07) cars have them side by side in a horizontal line. You can switch off the "Say voice blah blah" in the Sat Nav settings; page 3 from memory. Something about say back command in voice assist. Once it's switched off you just say the command.
  12. Something which is bugging me is that if this is a known problem with a solution then where are the recall notices for those who are affected. Also, if there is a recall - will I still get another bottle of bubbly
  13. Much less mirror shake ... but still there. I normally stick the ML on 35-40 which dramatically increases the shake. I guess we need to find out : 1) Which injectors did the early diesels have (Jan-Mar) 2) Which were on Mar/Apr onwards. 3) Which were installed on my car - are these the same as Mar/Apr onwards or a different set.
  14. This was a pleasant surprise for me after the upgrade. I was expecting the improved fuel economy but didn't expect to be able to do 65 mph comfortably in sixth, and the car feels nippier throughout the gears.
  15. The missus has a fully load 807 with the 2.2 hdi engine. Not as quiet as the Lexus BUT compared to my IS220d SE: * No rattles whatsoever. * Auto sensing wipers. * A navigation system which allows the passenger to enter/change destinations on the move. * Full access to radio and CD text on the move. * Integrated phone system that will also read out received text messages. * Full access to the phone on the move. * Voice activation that actually seems to understand me :D * Audio/video inputs in the glove box. * Headlamps stay on when you arrive home and go off after 60 secs (programmable) * Auto fold wing mirrors when you lock the car/start the engine. * Air conditioned cup holders !! Keeps the drinks cool in the summer. * Last 10,000 service cost £41.00 AND they washed, hoovered, picked up and dropped off the car. The pug cost £19,000 ex demo. If Peugeot can do some of this stuff on a bog standard family people carried then I'm sure Lexus can bend a bit.
  16. I found a new one the other day which is "warmer" - turns the temp up by a couple of degress. Try as I might I can't get a "colder", "cooler", "chill" etc to work :duh:
  17. That will be "Air Conditioner Off" in my car I said some random gibberish the other day and she answered back "System is showing Toyota Garages" - maybe I said some Japanese :D
  18. What a bummer! I'd insist on a decent loan car until your arrives - I think somebody on the forums was loaned a GS until their IS arrived. Also I'd insist on free servicing plus the Lexus goodies; umbrella, golf stuff etc. The dealer is going to have a hard time shifting a fully specced SE-L without MM though.
  19. Ask him to speak to Richard at Lexus Poole - they swap out the injectors for new (modified) ones when customers complain about poor fuel economy; providing the car is an early (Jan/Feb 2006) model. Since the injector swap, my mpg has gone from mid 30s to mid 40s and this is driving mostly motorway at 80 mph.
  20. Nice pics. I'd forgotten what colour I had ... but now its all coming back :) Good luck with the cleaning and watch out for stone chips - white primer on black doesn't look so hot.
  21. Check with your dealer - you may have an early IS220d with the faulty fuel injectors. Mine is a Jan 06 and now that I've had the modified injectors fitted I'm seeing an easy 45mpg, the ability to use 6th gear at 65 mph, much less vibration and the icing on the cake which is an improvement in performance
  22. AFAIK: * Shark fin radio antenna. * Illuminated petrol and boot release switches. * Ability to switch of VDIM. * Some new/changed colours e.g. metallic black. Of course, there is no guarantee that we will get the above in the UK spec.
  23. The poor fuel consumption appears to be related to early (Jan/Feb) IS220d and Lexus now has a fix that involves fitting new fuel injectors (different type to those supplied).
  24. Nice write up Jamboo! I think I've said in previous posts that performance improved around the 4-5000 miles but not the economy. However, since the new injectors things are really improving; I've done about 900 miles with a tank average settling about 43mpg, and this is a major improvement on mid 30s.
