So What Kind Of Mileage Do Is's Start Going Wrong?
scott replied to petayV8's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Agreed! The performance for a diesel is average off the line, over taking though is a lot of fun - bit like the IS in that respect. I would say mid range it's on par with the 300 (from what I can remember). The MPG is outstanding, no matter how hard I push it I get 47-51 MPG for a tank. Handling is also pretty good - I keep pushing it on the corners and its never let me down yet. Even performed well in the recent snow much to my surprise. -

Well when i asked the question i certainly didnt have the diesel in mind! we all know its **** Yeah, sorry. haven't been on the forums for a very long time - so fed up with my lexus. For some reason this thread ended up in my inbox so I felt compelled to reply - realise now you guys were talking about the 200/300. I had a 200 and a 300, both high milers and never had a thing go wrong with them. The 300 was a top notch car and I really missed it when I traded in for the 220d. -
So What Kind Of Mileage Do Is's Start Going Wrong?

My IS220d started to seriously go wrong at about 70,000 miles. I sold it (dumped it back with Lexus) at 140,000 miles when the diff went. It was the final straw having had am almost replacement engine and 3 head gaskets go, not to mention countless other problems. As a rough estimate the cost of maintenance and repair was almost what I paid for the car brand new. Worst car I ever bought. And it was 100% dealer services with FSH. Got a nice new Peugeot RCZ now which does 50 MPG, looks amazing and drives way better than the IS220d ever did. -
Ipod Connection
scott replied to Jerome K Jerome's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
The proper iPod connection is an aftermarket add on from Lexus or another supplier. The Lexus connection is about £250 inc fitting. -

To Walk Or Not?
scott replied to Teeonethousand's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
One thing to watch is there might be a clause regarding fair wear and tear - brakes/tires etc. My mate handed back a Discovery only to find they charged him for every scratch that had to be "fixed" to bring the car up to showroom condition. I understand that the finance companies/dealers are loosing money on these deals so might be keen to extract a pound of flesh. -
Is250 Rattles
scott replied to F.A.'s topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I had some rattles in my 2006 220d which were completely sorted by Lexus with a special rattle kit. Since then I've been rattle free, so I would imagine that either the car you ate interested in has been de-rattled or you can ask the dealer to fit the kit. The areas of rattle that I had fixed were lower dash driver/passenger side and the top of the dash where the center speaker is. HTH -
Folding Rear Seats - Not!
scott replied to Voodoo's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
We're getting close, I believe 2009 IS has folding rear head rests - just what is needed for flat pack Ikea furniture :D -

What is the change to Park Assist? I have the reversing camera but not the sensors. Also, does the voice command work with the iPhone? Cheers. -
Have to agree with SiWhite - my iPhone 3g call quality is excellent - evan when connected to the iPod connector in the glovebox it still works brilliantly. However, I have to agree with the others that the iPhone is lacking in the bluetooth dpt - with my old Nokia I uploaded the complete phonebook, yet with the iPhone I can't evan do one by one.

Hi, I have the Lexus iPod integration kit and it's pretty sweet, showing 6 playlists, and the playlist name and song name for the current song being played. Integrates nicely with the steering wheel controls allowing you too change playlist and change sony in playlist. It also charges the iPod and pauses it when the phone rings etc. HTH Scott

Hi Matt, Was this with the "Include CD Text" under the iTunes Advanced->Burning preference? Do you get CD text evan for those CDs that didn't have it? Cheers Scott -
Yep, and my drivers rubber mat now serves time in the boot due to the couple of times it almost killed me. Mine didn't have any clips and used to creep forward and then get trapped between brake and accelerator. What was bad was that it stopped the accelerator from returning so you go to brake, take foot of accelerator, press brake which was covered by mat and find accelerator was stuck, pretty scary the couple of times it happened. Welcome back Scott!! Hope you're well!! If the one you now use as a boot liner has the poduct code on it, then I'm sure they will replace it for one that actually works. Thanks Jamboo, sporadic visits as I'm up to my neck trying to deliver a government software project. I will be going back to Lexus soon for mat replacement and a new set of alloys - mine are now corroded. Also, my recent iPod installation is not so hot, it seems to lose the connection on bumpy roads and I have to pull over, stop the engine, re-attach the connector, re-start and be on my way. It's a hard life being a Lexus driver :)

Just an update now that I have read the manual It appears that you can have an UNLIMITED number of playlists but you only ever see 1-6 on the screen - you just page through them 6 at a time. You can also hold down (long press) previous/next on the steering wheel to skip to to the previous/next playlist. The playlist name is always displayed so you could have individual albums as a playlist which means you will then see album/track on the display. Also, if you name your playlist album-artist then you now have all the information displayed. I'm going to do some investigation and create some more playlists as there may be more mileage in this than initially meets the eye. There also seems to be a "magic" playlist that collects together all the songs on the iPod and lets you play through these, I'm not too clear on this as it isn't the best manual in the world.

Hi All, I've been off work for almost five months with a serious back injury, the IS220d has not been driven and has been standing still until a few days ago. Inevitably the battery was flat and I was got going by the RAC. I then took it on a round 50 mile run and have to say I was impressed, performance was great and not at all sluggish - in fact I was taken by surprise on a couple of corners, easy to forget how fast you are going Economy wise it is too early to say as I need a much longer run, prior to my injury I was getting low-mid forties on a 220 mile run averaging about 70 mph most of the way, oh, and the car has done 26,500 miles. I honestly expected it be really rough after standing for so long so was quite pleased to find that wasn't the case at all.

Mobile Phone List
scott replied to ebbo's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
The iPhone does have a SIM, but it is locked to O2, you can "Jailbreak" an iPhone and use with a different carrier. The phonebook isn't a problem for me as I have and old Nokia, MacBook and the iPhone. I use iSync on the MacBook to keep the three in sync and then transfer the phonebook using the Nokia. -

Apple iPhone works and displays signal, BT connection and battery indicator. However, you can't transfer ANY phone book entries (at least I couldn't ). The iPhone also works with the Lexus iPod integration kit.
