  1. My UCAs I obtained from Amayama and worked out to less than 50% of the Lexus UK supplied part many moons ago now ............. after carriage and vat and import duties too .......... my parts supplied from Amayama had Toyota stamped on them ( from the factory ) one of my earlier n/s front UCA I had to replace at about 173k miles ( from original ) and I did so with BluePrint but that only lasted 40k miles before needing replacing with a good and sensible genuine Toyota part from, as I say, Amayama .... delivery times probably now about 2 weeks but should be checked of course BUT as above, I would have a fresh independent MOT done to see what Advisories show up and if the UCAs are ok then I would leave well alone ........ I only knew about my initial UCA needing doing was when I heard a clunk driving up the Italian Dolomites .. I stopped, didn't see anything awry and the car drove perfectly fine .... some months later at MOT time the UCA needed changing ............. and long before I had heard of Amayama etc . coz even then Lexus Main Dealer parts were double BluePrint prices ...... I would always go for OEM ...... but from Amayama tbh .... the Rockauto offering at £85 sounds like a further replacement wanting to happen not too long down the line Malc
  2. just a helpful thought for a potential buyer ......... . might it be good to quote the part numbers and state if they are OEM and bought from ? Amayama or Rockauto or ??? Malc
  3. maybe the originals can be re-gassed by SGS ( if indeed they are gas ) .... SGS the people we Ls400 owners have happily used for many years Malc
  4. and offsetting the changeover capital costs of xxx£000's doesn't hugely overshadow the extra tiddly bit of fuel used on his " short trips " maybe Malc
  5. today filled up, 71.37 ltrs at my local Tesco with their standard Momentum 99 E 5 at 172.9p cost £129.40 ........... ( E10 is 164.9p ) oh . and I got 61p in Tesco points too ,,,,,,,,,,,, so that's almost a penny off the pump price I guess ..... makes a mockery of the thieving Shell garage last night at 189.9p thankfully I only put in £15 last night thinking I'd run-out at midnight trying to get home .. silly me, there must have been at least enough fumes to get me to the front door Malc
  6. Not seen a Ford fiesta for such a long time ..........two of my neighbours have a Bentley, just ordinary one's mind you .. as one of several cars they each own ... and I have the only Lexus for miles around I beleive now ........ Bentleys two a penny, well a halfpenny each then in Queenborough Malc
  7. last night driving around half of Kent with unannounced ridiculous roadworks everywhere ....... trying to get back home from a Greek night ( that was BRILLIANT ) at the Walmer Castle Inn at Westgate .... and the orange light on seemingly forever and the needle dropped to ZERO I thought ...... not good panicking at midnight for fuel so I popped into the Shell garage on the A299 past Whitstable way and E10 175.9p and the E5 189.9p bl00ody rip off for sure a 14p spread in the uplift for E5 ..... disgraceful Malc
  8. Steve, surely you're tempted to buy it back ............ especially now with those essential improvements seriously ........... you must be sorely tempted ? Malc
  9. looks a stunning Aspen Green Mk3 sadly without original wheels whereas the real Top Guy has kept his originality a lot better ( that's Bill Gates of course ) . with original wheels .. just like mine Malc
  10. I feel for your sad loss ............. 💔 Malc
  11. Thank you, yes it's a lovely looking Aspen Green ? Mk3 just like mine BUT mine's done 240k miles tho' .... and she drives a dream too can you tell us more about the car and history etc ? I don't wish to pry but any and all info about a Mk3 is good to know ... so rare these days maybe Malc
  12. have you a photo of the front of the car to share ? Malc
  13. Dan hi .... is this for a Mk3 or the first of the Mk4's ? yes, I too would feel totally bereft should I " lose " my Ls400 😭 Malc
  14. Thank you ........... reason i asked was coz on my Honda Legend 2006 the lens misted over with time it seems and like you, the cost of OEM was ridiculously HUGE and I managed to just buy an appropriate sized cut stick on/over existing " glass " from a general supplier in the uk ............. AND it cost about £25 ......... didn't keep the heating demisting feature tho' ..... it was just a mirror glass effectively and not what the purist would wish I know .... but £25 compared to, I think at the time from Honda, @ £300 just for the glass Malc
  15. please advise ..... is this coz the glass misted over thru' time and difficult to view properly ? or was it damaged perhaps ? Thanks Malc
  16. the gargages are just taking us motorists for a ride I'm afraid . if one can provide at a keener price .......... Costco at 151.9p ........... then there's no reason on earth that the others can't too ... shame on them ......... may their Chief Executives, especially those of the petrol companies, simply ROT IN HELL Malc
  17. .......WILL BE PRESENTED WITH A MOT TILL 22nd DECEMBER 2022 with no advisories ........ They've had it a while then ................ then the price is probably too steep- maybe ! Malc
  18. reading somewhere these past days that Costco selling E10 at 151.9p ..... I'm many many miles from my local store sadly Malc
  19. I would be inclined to ask Lexus how to proceed with the ( free ) warranty claim tho' ... just in case there is a real problem Malc
  20. Sam wow, what a lot of really really useful info for you to ponder upon .... ...........do let us know how your thoughts are after all this please Malc
  21. Welcome Sam to this elite Forum .... hehehehehehe ...... I sort of envy you the choices before you in buying a Ls600 .... they are going to be superb driving machines and with good servicing and preventative maintenance shoud provide you with aeons of brilliant comfortable and, comparatively inexpensive motoring when you're comparing similar costs to those on a RR or Bentley etc I don't know for sure but I'm quite thinking the comfort levels would be similar ... whichever age model you decide upon ..... just don't expect a miracle of any aged car ..... 2008 is now upcoming 15 years young ... and stuff will start to go awry I'm sure BUT a 2008 Ls600 would have long gone from being an initial company purchase car with any maintenance and servicing costs covered at Lexus Main Dealer with expense no object ... subsequent owners would hopefully have been astute and careful and looking after such a prestige car ......... go get the service history and MOTs of the cars you're looking at . those details will tell you a myriad of useful detail I'm sure Steve's words of wisdom above are good Best wishes with your hunt Do keep us in the picture eh ! Malc
  22. Marque caps eh ! ..... little story to tell Last week my nephew, you know, the one holding my 1932 Triumph, was taking his 10 y/o lad to London for the day and was passing the Jack Barclay showroom .... Berkeley Sq is it ? .......... lad nose against the window to see the everyday stock they hold ......... when they're invited in for a chat and a closer inspection, open doors to the newish Bentley convertible and happily invited to be sitting in there, yes, in the car playing with all that stuff when a kind salesman brings the lad out a Bentley cap ........ which he assured ONLY gets given to purchasers of their cars Probably got Jack Barclay logo on the inside edge too methinks Malc
  23. and I've even seen my local Tesco yesterday reduce their E10 fuel price to 164.9p ... about blo)dy time too eh ! Maybe the cartel locally has stopped and Morrisons and the BP garage will " compete " going forward . miracles do sometimes happen eh ! Local Aldi store bursting at the seams with customers ( I was inside too ) ..... and driving past Tesco, clearly not the same fervour there ... customers have learnt some salutary lessons about these conniving garage petrol supermarkets maybe Malc
