  2. Are people having a day out or going all serious and having a night in Coventry?
  3. If it was serviced at Lexus & passed the Hybrid check you should have a 12 month warranty irrespective if its been maintained within the main dealer network or not historically. Under the Lexus Relax scheme you should be covered, best to enquire with your dealer. Have you had the cooling fan & filter serviced (cleaned) ? if not try that first before ruling out a dead cell when it's blocked up with dust etc owners may experience errors or overheating usually throwing out a cooling performance is low warning message on the dash.
  4. I've a 2015 IS300H and today noticed on my OBD reader I've got a pending POA80 code indicating a possible issue with the hybrid battery. I noticed the mpg readings were acting very strange on my last journey, so this must have been the reason. I just had it serviced at Lexus last month, and it passed the hybrid test after initially failing ( I had to bring it back after driving 500 miles). The previous owner opted to service it independently for a couple of years, and didn't get the hybrid battery check during this time, so I was wondering if anyone knew if this mattered with regards to the hybrid warranty? Or am I covered from last months pass certificate? Thank you
  5. I’m with Classicline on a modern classics policy (no NCB build up and must have a daily driver). Tracker required, last year was £900 with 500 excess, the renewal was £964 but I’ve just reduced mileage from 5k to 3k and value down from 87k to 80k and got it down below £800. As previous, IT’S WORTH IT! But I really need to get more miles in!
  6. Try pressing the odo/trip switch to change the info. Press and hold resets the info, but a quick press should show different info.
  7. Today
  8. Confirming the battery linked above is the one I have. One thing though is the vent tube doesnt fit it probably needs an adapter or something maybe it came with one but the used car dealerthat fitted the battery probably didn't bother. I have heard of people calling up yuasa and being sent an adapter free. I have just left mine disconnected for now.
  9. Protected my Lexus today by buying a second car! The Mrs is getting a puppy next week and I was freaking out at the idea of a dog being in my beloved Lexus - hence I was inspired to purchase a cheap 'dog car'. The new car allegedly gets 60 MPG too so hopefully that will incentivise me to drive the LS less as I've done over 7000 mile since I got it in November and that's with no daily commute to work; I just love driving it!
  10. Still to get to the trip/odo section part in the handbook. Really impressed by the fuel economy on my LBX.
  11. My neighbour who currently owns a 3 year old top of the range BMW, ordered a brand new top of the range RX450 earlier this week. Got home, contacted his insurance broker, quoted £7,000 for insurance. Rang the dealer and cancelled the order! Where will it all end?
  12. Search the forums on this site. There are numerous posts about this subject and a conclusion would be that it seems that the insurance companies are using the increased report of thefts of newer Lexus models to justify declining or massively the increasing premiums on Lexus models that are not affected by the sole issue that only affects these newer cars.
  13. MPG in HV only mode: I wanted to know what MPG my RX450h+ was achieving when using petrol only. So rather than attempt some devious calculations, I decided to actually measure it! So during a week away from home I ran the car in EV mode until the battery was depleted and it switched permanently to HV mode. I then topped it up with petrol and zero'd the mileage trip. I then drove 189.2 miles on non-motorway South Devon roads and again topped it up with 19.6 litres of fuel. If my calculations are correct, this gives a figure of 43.9 mpg. During this period I did not charge the battery. Not bad! Tom
  14. As per the link from @Tickedon that is the price for a full service but in addition the 10th year service includes the first engine coolant change. If your previous services haven't been that costly I would say you had a friendly dealer.
  15. At very long last and with some help from my insurance company and a careless neighbour repeatedly opening his rear door denting my car…I’ve removed minor but annoying damage from the port side of my barge. Front bumper sorted. Wheels next. Just picked up new mot with no advisories. Tester complimented the car as being all tight underneath and all clean. Bless it…it’s going to pay towards a new kitchen. 🫢
  16. Hi TJ Things might be different in Ireland, but here there isn't an upgrade for a LS500H, as far as I can find. Why not give your dealer a ring and see if one exists for you, but I think the news is bad. : o (
  17. Trust me Ronnie I feel your pain! Mind you, what goes around, comes around, and the next thing we'll hear is the insurance companies bleating about loss of business. As I often say to my daughter (and anyone else who will listen to me) insurance companies are nothing more than a bunch of spivs dreaming up more and more "creative" ways to legally rob you.
  18. Your vehicle is cheaper to insure as it one not have the canbus issues!
  19. Well, all this talk of security devices, to protect what is probably our second most expensive investment, quite frankly is disgraceful. We put or trust and faith in purchasing, what for the motoring press, is a left field choice, a Lexus. I feel we are entitled to be annoyed, angry and let down by the brand. Not only has our investment dropped frighteningly in value, and we are raped by the Insurance industry, we now appear to have many RX450h owners suffering fear and anxiety, and talking about extreme lengths to protect their vehicles. Where are you LEXUS, are you proud of your response to your loyal customers, because I fear you may be losing more customers customers than Rishi Sunak votes! We have paid a lot of our hard earned cash to purchase one of your vehicles, we have paid additional cash out to add immobilisers, cameras, steering locks, and have a right to expect better while you are sitting on your hands.
  20. Bu Bum !! If I wasn't doing Ernie for you how else would you get laughs !
  21. Are we sending you to Coventry then 😂👌👍😅 Malc
  22. The problem is that politicians from all parties believe that taxing and spending more is the solution. It isn’t. For instance the cost of building HS2 before the project was cancelled was £200 billion. A similar project in France and Europe costs £30 billion. No politician is willing to investigate why there is such a disparity but it is the key question. HS2 is an example but the same happens in the other sectors. Anyway going back to my initial post I will wait September before ordering the RZ, hopefully I will have more visibility by then.
  23. Whatever turns you on Gray ... I'm told it takes all sorts 😉 .
  24. I see. No worries. I am quite new in the UK and still improving my English 😏 i will put a hair in that crack and make it hairy 🤣
  25. Apologies for the "Carry on" double entendre style remarks. I just couldn't resist it. I think we should be talking about hairline?? So the old joke goes - --- -- Like the bald sales chap that turned up at the door and my son answered and shouted " Dad! - There's a man at the door with a bald head. "Tell him I've already got one" I said.😭
  26. I received my reminder yesterday and unless yours is different to mine, the red writing actually says - From 1 April 2025, vehicle tax rates will change for electric vehicles and low emissions cars. Link to the Gov UK info on this - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vehicle-tax-for-electric-and-low-emissions-vehicles#:~:text=From 1 April 2025%2C drivers, pay a fairer tax contribution. It all looks a bit ominous for all of us🤨
  27. I've had a paint specialist go over the whole car and correct any blemishes by polishing them out before a decontam pre-wash, rinse, main wash (Car pro shampoo), rinse, then after thoroughly drying it, he applied Car pro's "3 year" Si02 paint protection, and advised I use CarPro Reload after using the same car washing stuff, which maintains the ceramic coating, extending its life. Like you Gary, I've always done my own detailing and have a Daspro6 I use for the occasional paint correction but elected to use an independent detailer to get a good base from which to continue the paintwork maintenance. Everyone has their own routine, and favoured products. I really like Maguire's techwax but won't use it over the ceramic coating as it will hinder the build up of the reload stuff, so my routine (weekly) is to start with a quick blast to get the worst of the muck off with a power washer, then snow foam (Autoglym's prewash PH neutral stuff), and power rinse, immediately followed by the car wash shampoo (hand applied with a fleece mitt), one final rinse and towel dry. It gets treated better than I treat myself Lol! The Reload coating should only be needed every month or so to build up and maintain the hydrophobic coating and swirl resistance. I find it therapeutic but it does take a good few hours to do properly.
