  2. Hi all Got a RZ450e Premium Plus on order for delivery in September to replace a Tesla Model 3. Got a few observations which might be useful. If you're new to EVs - unless you're doing a huge mileage (in which case I question whether you should go the electric route) forget range anxiety. It's not once crossed my mind after nearly 3 years of driving the Tesla. Average 200 miles a week mostly local and the biggest plus is never having to go to a petrol station. Plug in each night, wake up in the morning with a fully charged (80%) battery and drive. Also had a few long trips in the UK, and driven to the south of France and Amsterdam from Yorkshire and had no issues with charging. Yes you need to allow 20 minutes every so often to charge but you need to plan in coffee/toilet breaks with an ICE vehicle so no time lost really. Big plus is round trip to France on holiday cost under £200 in charging compared to over £800 the previous year! Maybe range on the Lexus is more of a worry but for 95% of my life, around 200 mile range is not an issue. Lexus are giving these away. Cost to replace Model 3 with a Model Y would be £735 a month which is £200 more than I'm paying now on business contract hire. RZ Premium Plus with bi-tone is only £580 and list price is about £18,000 more than the Model Y. Love the Tesla which I never thought I'd say trading from a 740iL BMW but I do have a few worries. Will I miss the tech? Will the range bite me on the ***** for longer trips? Never owned a Lexus so not sure what to expect from them as a brand or the service from the dealership. But taken the leap of faith so we'll see…
  3. Ref the reading of manuals…. I got chastised for recommending owners read the manual when they have got a query/problem but if you look in the ‘F’ section of this forum a RCF owner comes along asking with an ‘Engine oil is Low” warning on dash what does that mean, and this is the second time it came up, just ignored it the first time🙄go figure😩
  4. Well, thanks for reading anyway, those that did, because of course it was a very localised question so I wasn't expecting a myriad of responses. 😊 Anyway, for anyone interested, I've been to see them and was very warmly welcomed and, I think, reasonably quoted so will be transferring my business to them when the time comes for my next full service & MoT in July. 👍
  5. My IS came with a tow bar fitted when I bought it. I must admit that it didn't look right, even without reading p165 of the manual (didn't realise that men read manuals 😄). Anyway, I was never going to use the thing so took the whole assembly off and sold it. On here actually. That was a while ago so sorry Alan, no good to you now. I believe it was a Witter if that's any help 🤔.
  6. Today
  7. Agree, just spoken to them (LV) as taken private number off current car, and still not added, the guy I spoke to said ring closer to time to see if added. so looks like I will loose my 10% multi car discount
  8. Hahahaha ….. yes our Honda Legend v6 . 3.5ltr is brilliant but to my mind not a patch on the Ls400 Wow only 1100 …. I have 2, my local buddy whom I coffee with also has 2 😂 BUT I rarely see one on the road these days sadly 🥵 Malc
  9. I recently saw a car advertised…was it a Lexus?…where the seller had had the sunroof sealed. As my partner isn’t a fan of ‘wind in her hair’, this would suit me. Anyone share this approach? Would seem to solve one source of water.
  10. Kev look at this video it might help...I used Fabric electric tape worked a treat!
  11. I suppose it's not too bad compared to the ridiculous prices for some electric vehicles. Maybe Admiral know that the isf has no CANBUS and has no mega expensive battery to replace or write off🤔 in the event of a bump. I don't really know? Some of the other quotes were in the thousands though, maybe they were just plain ignorant or trying it on?
  12. Something to be said for the KISS approach? Seems like overkill, to have to have £300 worth (‘worth’?) of gizmos just to tell you tyres -which are meant to stay inflated, need attention. Surely easier to check manually every so often?
  13. What utter nonsense. In the category of 'they'll tell you owt'. My battery is coming up to 10 years old. A Yuasa battery (if that's what it is) should last for more than 6 years at least. Hopefully it's a one-time glitch.
  14. That price sounds a “ bargain “ for a go-faster sports car type 😂 Malc
  15. Couple of options ….previous and current SC’s….
  16. Mine is pre facelift and these fitted perfectly from ebay. They are the ones that light up but the fitment in the bumper is the same. I am not sure if later models are the same dimensions mine being 183mm length x 38mm high. I am not sure this seller is still selling them. Alternatively SC430mods sell them https://www.sc430mods.com/product-page/clear-corners-all-4-included-smoke-also-available
  17. Mine were starting to get battery failure (2007 car).Local TPMS 'specialists' (!) ended up fitting but not programming ("anything but a lexus mate"), so didnt pay for installation, but.....ended up getting all 4 replaced at a jap cars specialist whilst biting a largeish bullet. Cheaper than Lex dealer though, and now I am assuming no more tpms woes for me.......I hope!! Warning lights flashing on the dash were driving me mad. I looked at techstream coding but way way out of my league, i can only manage a mobile phone. My Lex dealer refused to code any sensor not supplied by them.
  18. What a palaver! It's taken me 5 hours to get insurance sorted. In short the problem ( apart from the price ) was that I declared an exhaust modification in the compare site and on the insurers website and it all entered correctly. When you go to the summary it wants me to declare NO modifications and will progress no further. Only Admiral's website and helpline worked. All the others seem to use the same forms and formulas which create the error/impasse. Finally got it done WITH the declared exhaust mod. Flippin 'eck!!! FYI - ISF with H&S exhaust Fully comp with legal cover £600 - not great but not too bad considering all the grief some of us have had.🥶😵‍💫

  20. I’d like to update my orange reflectors front and back for clear but notice that the replacements are actually indicators? Are they for the American models? Will they still fit ok?
  21. Colour choice is very personal, neutral like grey, silver or gold, then do the brakes hubs as well.
  22. Lexus made move from DVD to HDD around ~2010, and HDD (and later solid state) versions are updated via SD card. For RX specifically 2010 model (which lasted until 2015) came with "new HDD based system", meaning that 2015 car definitely has that.
  23. I'd be very surprised if the navigation system in something as recent as a 2015 RX runs off a DVD. It's likely updated via USB.
  24. ….Malcolm - how good are you! yes, your right, I am a bit nuts to sell her ( him/other 😳 ) and the distance could be a challenge but 3 point’s to consider: 1. my location is a mere 15 miles from the county line with England! 2. as a guide, Edinburgh to Southampton is just £52 return by a ‘national’ coach carrier - so one way ( with cash in wallet 🫠 ) is £26 ! 3. if you really, really want the best, you will know, Malcolm, you have to endure just a little pain and inconvenience to acquire a rare example of whatever! ….at September 2022 there were 33.5 million cars on UK roads ( RAC ). there are, allegedly, less than 1.100 Lexus LS 400’s remaining! £26+ to view, inspect and purchase a carefully maintained and upgraded ‘last of the line’ model’s - surely, a no brainer! I believe, like a Mini, everybody should own / drive a V8 motor, at least, once in a lifetime! availability of V8 engine powered car’s are already dwindling from The Big Player’s with a V6 as the, ‘environmental’ (🙄 ) replacement. ok, the same, maybe, more power but I doubt ever as smooth running as a V8!……hey! I am just and old git - what do I know! 🤣 ideally, low mileage, Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz or similar oriental - ok, let’s swap 😲! anthony
  25. I’m getting there. The stereo certainly runs down the battery quick. I left the radio on for maybe an hour whilst fettling other things before the battery died again! I wonder what other owners have done regarding the tyre puncture kit? Mine has a Dunlop Reifenpannen-Soforthilfe-System brochure. It has been deployed some years back it would seem. I’ve managed to lessen the roof knocking a bit although I’m quite concerned at how much I’m adjusting the stop.
