  1. Past hour
  2. Too true Ronnie, I’ve been doing research on the internet, and it’s surprising how many insurance companies are owned by the big boys in the industry. One thing I have found out to my surprise, is the Comparison sites are also owned by insurance companies, so not as neutral as you may think. It is proving more difficult to identify who owns what in that sector, not so ‘ Simple’s’ excuse the pun 🤣😂 The Lexus is an expensive bit of kit, so I think I will bite the bullet, take the hit and go with NFU!
  3. …..Maintenance Service Record’s for my Lexus LS 400: I want you all to imagine you are standing, looking down a long, wide, open plan office. row after row of utility desk’s, at least 6 wide, disappearing into the distance, all manned by both male and female, uniformed, service personnel all poring over document’s using magnifying glasse’s with the buzz of continuous activity and whispered conversation’s.. the air feels tense and is a haze of blue cigarette smoke (☹️). the time ? 13.00 hour’s, the date of the month ? the 5th, the month ? May, the year ? 1944 ! your location ? RAF Medmenham, Central Interpretation Unit ( CIU ), Buck’s. the RAF nerve centre for Photo Reconnaissance. startled, you, and many of the Photo Interpreter’s, look up at the window as first a Mosquito PR ( max 396mph ), V12 Merlin engine’s screaming at full throttle, as it accelerate’s down the runway promptly followed by a Spitfire PR Mk X1 ( max 362 mph ). both totally unarmed- sheer speed was their only protection ! both flew at 30 to 35.000 feet. neither aircrew would have known ( or, indeed, even any of the RAF staff ) why they were tasked with endless sortie’s to snap the French coast and inland area’s, day after day….🤔🤫 fast forward to today, 5th May 2024 ( 80 year’s later ! - I was day’s old, blissfully unaware of all this frenetic activity, fast asleep in my cot, I remember 😳 ) and you will all, shortly, become ( Lexus Owner’s Club ), civilian Photographic Interpreter ( PI’s ) ! how ? because I am about to reveal the detailed Maintenance Service Record’s of my Lexus LS 400 ! I just know you, like me, will all scrutinise all the recorded details like date’s, mileage, continuity, sequence’s, dealer’s, garage’s, workshop’s etc…..but remember, luckily, for us, no D-Day next month ! 🙂 voila….. anthony ps: for £ 4.495 - what ? pps: actually, your location would have been Daneshill House, Medmenham - I don’t believe it was near an operational airfield RAF base - call it author’s licence ? 😳
  4. Had 4 Accords. The last being a 2008 latest shape. Great looking even now. This model had an atrocious appetite for rear brake pads and seized calipers. When the model was discontinued in around 2014. Honda didn’t have a suitable saloon. That’s when I got the Lexus bug and bought an IS 300h. I wish they still available with the refinement of the ES.
  5. Yeah, as the canbus tin plates are just, errr, tin plates they won’t be Thatcham approved and therefore no insurer will take them into account - this is the same as the Ghost type immobilisers - they’re not categorised under the Thatcham system. Unless EVERY single at-risk Lexus is protected AND theft rates go down AND insurers and the press and the public realise ANY Lexus is at no more risk than another manufacturers car we’re ALL stuck with insurers pricing in the high likelihood of theft, together with the resultant knock on effect on resale values. The only way that’ll happen is via Lexus’s ‘imminent’ solution (stop laughing at the back) protecting every affected car in the UK.
  6. Hi , before i end up spending loads of money on 4 brand new tyres and powdercoating the rims in a different colour , is there anyone that might be interested in my wheels ? Forged HRE P40SC 19” No cracks , scratches or buckles on them , been powdercoated 2 years ago in matte black and they look perfect spec is 9.5j rears and 8.5j fronts , ET40 all around reason for sale , wanna go 18”
  7. I’d disagree it’s a waste of time harassing your dealer - the more flak they get at a local level (loudly, front and centre of showroom, weekends preferably) the more likely it’ll be passed up to the ivory tower that is Lexus UK’s anti theft team (unless, as I suspect, they all left their laptops in their now-absent company cars a few months ago).
  8. Today
  9. Mmm, yes I can believe that in this day and age! The companies you relate to are Equity Red Star, and Highway, are Lloyds backed companies. That means the insurer lays off your risk between several insurance companies within the Lloyds so no one company takes the full hit of any claim. This process can take longer to resolve as they all need to talk with each other. I know ERS do get reasonable reviews, Highway, not sure, but thanks for the heads up .
  10. Nothing Surprises me there..Should have called it Your Way My Way Or The Highway.... C.E.O. Possible ***** Turpin..!!
  11. I am a bit of a Honda fan (not sure if you can say that on here 😚) although I personally have never owned a Honda car. I still have a lawnmower and motorbikes which have been very reliable. Great to get a photo of 100,000. I'm sure I would have remembered at 100,003 🙈
  12. Nothing on claims efficiency (apart from the general reviews) but last year they placed me with a company called Equity Star, and the renewal this year is a company called Highway who (brace yourselves!) having looked them up are part of LV, who are declining to insure Lexus models! Erm…😆
  13. Thanks for the information Ed, they certainly have a lot of good reviews. Just out of interest, who do Chris Knott place their business with , ie, which insurance companies, and does anyone have any information re claims efficiency etc. I note they seem to favour Owners Club members, but we ain’t on their list, I wonder why that is, as it appears they are getting business from the LOC , and from the reviews, probably better that Lexus insurance?
  14. I wonder if it fails due to lack of use? I don't have to manually adjust the mirrors very often but use the auto dipping function a lot (on all 3 cars) and I don't recall a single failure. They might need manually realigning after a thorough wash and polish where the glass just needs to be re-centred but otherwise I've found them to be useful and reliable.
  15. I once had a Honda Jazz Hybrid as a rental and that for me was the surprise of the year. Great little car and due to the hybrid fast in city traffic. Great little thing and what more do you want from alittle runabout. BTW not so special for a Honda to reach 100k miles. Now , if it was a Range Rover...
  16. Yes, the civic looks nice but seems expensive at £36k. Maybe all cars look expensive these days. Still got the wife’s MK3 Jazz which has now been passed down to son as a first car. Worst Honda we’ve ever had though. Gutless 1.3 engine and clunky gear change. Only good feature is it is huge inside. More space in the rear seats than an S class Merc. Good for the tip run or if going on holiday.
  17. There are instructions on the Lexus website detailing how to do it yourself… but I couldn’t get it to work either (you need a license code for the new update, and the part code showing was invalid according to the Lexus system!).
  18. ….very good question, Malcolm ! patience ! I do have a post pending titled ‘ so what exactly does not work on your Lexus LS 400, Anthony ?’. release likely tomorrow, now. need to compose / release ‘my Maintenance Service Record’s for my Lexus LS 400’ - within the hour - stay on this channel, folk’s ! 🙄😃🙄😃 anthony
  19. Anthony …….. which negatives are you aware with your Ls400 ? Malc
  20. New review of the 300h, not Thomas presenting as usual, so not as thorough, but I think AJ does a pretty good job. Interesting to know they have added additional sound proofing.
  21. Car is inside garage with double electric doors. Today we have a power cut. Fortunately not planning to drive today. Is going to be a scorcher.
  22. Civic perhaps? I’ve also had a few Honda - before moving to Lexus in 2016. They are great cars, well engineered and beautifully built. The interior materials aren’t as plush as a Lexus, but then the prices aren’t as ‘plush’ either! I’d have another Honda, and will likely end up with a Jazz at some stage once I’m drawing my pension 😇.
  23. ….wow ! 😃 - 8.37 this morning, I am now granted The Explorer Badge ! Lexus Owner’s Club Suit’s - thank you - another badge to be worn with pride! I remember, when I was a Cub, 12, ( junior Boy Scout’s ) I was obsessed with the range of colourful ‘achievement badges’ to be worn on one’s sleeve’s of the dark green jumper ( remember those ? ). the best badge was for First Aid, bright white cross on bright red, triangular, backckground ! when Arkela was not looking I pinched that badge, and a handful of other’s, got my mum to sew them on both sleeve’s ( 😲) - no one ever said a word, not even mum ! ironically, have just attended a 2 day First Aid ( Driver’s ) Training Day and am now a fully qualified, certificated First Aider - what goe’s around, come’s around ! ( no bl**dy badge, though, wish I’d kept the old Cub one ! ☹️ ). anthony
  24. Richard I saw the the Video that is what happend to me exactly, its the battery I bought my car 3 years ago from tunbridge wells I live in yorkshire the car had been on the forecourt 3 months I picked the car up on the saturday and the car never moved till Monday. Thats when i had the sound Tunbridge wells where ok the contacted Lexus Hull and told me to take it there and they would fit it. The fitter told me that clicking is the relay that as not got enough voltage to set the startup proccedure in motion I have not had a problem since as John as remarked those batteries last a long time if they are kept charged but if you let them run down they will fail and let you down. Just one point have you checked that the Battery conections are clean and tight.
  25. Is your car a mk3 or mk4? Sami's battery dimensions work for the Mk3 but I believe don't for the Mk4. I'll say it again - I don't believe a Panasonic battery (which cost you what? Not far off £300) would only last 3 years - mine is Panasonic and is coming up to 10 years old. Don't forget the heat sensor and the gas vent tubes.
