Heated Windscreen Wipers.

Can anyone tell me if cars that have the bottom part of the front screen heated have a visible element in the glass please?

The OEM heaters are visible.

Aftermarket screens may have invisible heaters.

Many thanks. Mine's 'Pilkington', so I assume a replacement....no element visible. When the Mrs. gets back, I'll check to see if it gets warm!

I had mine changed recently and the chap from AA windscreens was suprised the replacement window didn;t have the element, but when he removed the old one, we couldn't find any wiring, so it seems it was never fitted to mine.

Is it an available option on other IS's?

I think it was a feature Lexus dropped around the first facelift. I had a heated section for the wiper blades on my 07 220d but it's not there on my 10 250.

I don't think it was an option as such.

That's an interesting point.

Is your model actually a facelift version or an 08 registered in 09?

If you have a USB drive in your armrest and the L shaped reversing light detail then you do indeed have the facelift version.

Maybe its something retained on the 220Diesel but not on the 250.

Any other facelift cars out there with the heating strip in the windscreen?

Its a 2009 registered model, 148g/km with the revised backlights and mirror indicators

I forgot to update this! My screen's definitely a replacement, no visible element....gets very hot at the bottom when its switched on!

i had a window replaced today as I was not sure the last one had the heater element.

I am not sure if this one does either, its luke warm-ish on the bottom of the windscreen. how hot does this actually get? !

Same here...mine gets luke warmish also. The manual refers to it as quite hot and not to touch it. Mine I'd say, doesn't even get as hot as my wing mirrors.

Mine's hot.....as in, not too hot to touch and stay in contact with....but not just warm....if that makes sense!
