Daylight Running Lights

Hi All

Would it be possible to wire the side lights to come on when ign turned on  I like the concept of DLR but i dont like the garish LED clusters that some cars Have esp Audi. I wouldnt dream of fitting extra Light module as it would spoil the look of my  450. I did fit a LED bulb in the sidelight  and it does light the reflector up well and is visible during day.

I know i could switch just side lights on for normal running but knowing me i would end up with a flat Battery.

I am sure someone must have done it some where

Ditto.

I did also change to LED side lights at the front and use them.

As the Summer ends, headlights become the norm ...

A 12volt relay with it's coil connected from ignition to ground with it's normally open contacts in parallel with the side light switch contacts will do as you want.

I'd quite like to do this, but would likely need a step by step to do it - although it's probably actually pretty straightforward with the right parts!

What John suggests would work, but that would put the tail sidelights on as well, and trigger any other circuits related to sidelights.

If you want just the front sidelights, you'd need to run the relay for just those and not just mimic the sidelights switch (which may need a diode or two in the mix to avoid putting the rear taillights by feeding power back up the circuit to other things (and any interior lighting hooked into the sidelights, possibly things like cig lighter illumination, Window switches, clock dimming, etc).
